Chapter 66:
Two in the Abandoned House
“There’s a really cute girl, so come meet her.”
That’s what Sayuri-chan said, so I came to check it out—but this is a ruin, right?
There’s no way anyone could be living in a place like this.
I opened my phone just to make sure, but I shouldn’t have looked.
The rating for this building was ★4.7, and the comments were—the ultimate haunted spot.
Why is it rated so high? This should be low-rated, seriously.
I definitely came to the wrong place.
I need to head home—fast.
“Ah—! Yuina-chaaan!”
When I looked up toward the voice, Sayuri-chan was waving from a second-floor window.
…So it really is here…
“Wait there—I’ll come get you, okay?”
But if Sayuri-chan is living here, maybe the inside is normal?
“Welcome.”
With a creaking sound, the door opened, and a cute smiling face appeared through the gap.
Then, when the door opened all the way, there was another—
an adult woman who greeted me with a gentle, “Welcome.”
Even though I didn’t want to look, I ended up seeing the inside—and no matter how I look at it, this is a ruin.
It’s dark, it’s run-down, and it was even labeled a haunted spot—I want to go home.
And this woman is staring at my face, like, really staring… why?
Did I do something to bother her?
“…You’re not good with scary things, are you?”
She hit the nail on the head.
It might have been written all over my face—I need to be more careful.
“So yeah, ghosts and scary stuff—I’m really, really bad with that!”
If she understands that much, then she’ll let me go home like this, right?
I feel a little bad about Sayuri-chan, though.
“I get it. I can’t handle it either.
People who actually like scary things—there’s something wrong with them, right?”
It was a sigh that carried a lot of real feeling behind it.
But… you live here, don’t you?
It was labeled a haunted spot, you know?
When I took a breath, she smoothly reached out her hand.
A handshake?
“Alright, I’ll take you there, so close your eyes and follow me.”
Wait—does she mean I’m supposed to take that hand?
That’s… not what I mean.
I want you to say, “Go home.”
I want to leave, but—Sayuri-chan is looking over here with an unbelievably bright smile.
It’s hard to leave… or rather, I can’t.
…I guess I have no choice but to brace myself.
“…Please.”
Giving up, I took her hand and closed my eyes.
As we started walking, I heard the creaking sound of the door closing behind me.
With my eyes closed, it feels even scarier.
Is this really going to be okay…?
