Chapter 15:

Techno Leader of Team Techno

The Cartoon Kid: Shard Hunt.

1:54 PM – New Zealand

The air shimmered with heat as black flames licked the ground around a summon, shadows twisting violently in every direction. Kira and Decibolt moved as one, boots sliding across scorched dirt, theirsuits smeared with ash. Sweat dripped into Kira's eyes, and she wiped it away.

"Fry them already!" the summoner barked, stepping back as his creature faltered under the onslaught. His robes flapped violently, and he winced as he realized he might lose control.

"Prepare to be extinguished!" Kira shouted, launching herself at the summon.

"Black flames can never go out!" the creature bellowed, hurling fireballs that sizzled against Kira's gloves. She ducked, twisting midair, spinning and delivering three sharp kicks. Each strike sent sparks flying from the molten cracks beneath the summon. With a surge of aura, she unleashed a full-body repulsion that slammed the creature into the scorched earth. Dust and debris filled the air as it groaned, pushed further into the ground by Decibolt's series of sonic blasts.

"Kinetic punch barrage!" Kira yelled, striking in rapid succession. The summon shuddered, smoke curling around its black form, then evaporated into a cloud of yellow mist that floated away.

"You know the drill," Decibolt said, brushing soot from his chest and wincing as a burn stung his forearm. The summoner handed them two glowing shards before collapsing from exhaustion.

"We just took down a 597 summon in under ten minutes without transforming," Kira noted, glancing at a small cut on her lip, already bleeding faintly.

"The summons are getting easier to beat," Decibolt said, massaging his shoulder. Bruises were forming from his own earlier impact with the ground.

"I may have made the scale a little too high; none of them have broken 700."

They stepped into the portal, leaving the scorched battlefield behind.

Guardian's Chamber

The chamber glimmered with unfinished crystal structures. Kira's gloves were scorched, and a faint streak of blood ran down her forehead. Decibolt's suit was singed in multiple spots, and a small nosebleed had started after a recent collision with debris.

"You're making great progress; the crystal hanger is starting to take shape. But now you need to rest; you've been at it nonstop."

"We get enough rest," Kira snapped, shaking off fatigue.

"I don't need any rest; I can beat any summon on my worst day," Decibolt said, clenching his jaw as his bruised ribs protested.

"Don't get overconfident. You haven't fought anyone above 700."

"Because there are none," Kira replied, adjusting a minor cut on her arm.

"Just because you haven't fought one doesn't mean there are none."

Decibolt's Galaxom beeped faintly.

"I'm getting a report from a bank in Durban, South Africa. There's a bank robbery, and the robber is threatening to summon a creature if anyone intervenes."

"Let's go!"

They stepped through the portal, bruised and scorched but ready.

Durban, South Africa – Bank

Glass shattered under the robber's heel as she moved toward her getaway car. Kira and Decibolt materialized beside her, kicking up dust.

"Ugh, I'm warning you now: I have a powerful summon. Last chance to turn around."

"Fat chance," Kira said, smearing dirt and sweat from her cheek.

"Well, I tried to be nice, but fine, we'll have it your way—Techno!"

A teenage boy emerged from a cloud of yellow smoke.

"Techno cube initialize."

Blue light flared across his chest, circuit traces crawling over his skin as sleek armor digitized in place. Holographic eyes glimmered across his faceplate.

"His category is tech-based, and combat power... this can't be right—combat power is 750. She wasn't bluffing," Kira muttered, wincing at the heat radiating from his presence.

"So what if he's above 700? If I were a summon, my C.P. would be off the charts. This just means he'll be more than just a warm-up," Decibolt replied.

"Then what are we waiting for?" Techno asked.

In a blur, he appeared behind Decibolt. Sparks danced along his leg as he kicked Decibolt into the air. Bones rattled; a small nosebleed trickled down Decibolt's face. Within moments, Techno was in front of Kira, punching her into the wall. She hit it hard, coughing as blood seeped from her lip and small bruises formed across her torso.

"Oh come on, you should have seen those attacks coming."

Streams of electricity engulfed both heroes, yanking them together and smashing them into each other before they were flung across the floor.

"Okay, so 750 is no joke, but neither am I! Sonic Step!" Decibolt cried, racing forward, fists cutting through air as minor scratches opened across his arms.

"Almost got me, nearly there! You were really close that time." Techno dodged with smirks that revealed his confidence.

"But almost is not good enough." His body sparked violently, and a shockwave sent Decibolt flying into a pile of rubble, reopening old scrapes.

"Kinetic punch barrage!" Kira lunged, only to see her blows neutralized by a wave of electricity, leaving her burned forearms throbbing.

"Normally, I love a good fight, but you guys are so weak; you're making this boring."

"How dare you call me weak? Sonic Storm!" Decibolt responded, only to watch Techno dodge, sparks striking walls and windows, leaving small cuts and burns around them.

"Let's see how you handle this! Gravitational Kinesis Attack I: Gravity Enhance!" Kira launched a final barrage.

"This would have been a great attack if it had more force." Techno broke free, barely phased.

"Cyclonic Gravity!" The vortex hurled him away. He landed perfectly.

"So much potential; you just need an extra kick of power."

"You want a kick? I'll give you a kick!" She spun, but he grabbed her leg, electricity surging, tossing her across the pavement. Small cuts and bruises formed along her side.

"Maybe the reason you're not fighting well is because I'm holding back too much. Let's try Electro Drop!"

Electricity urged all over his body, with lighting speed he raced around them at high speed, the force of the air lifting them up. He then jumped and dived down, and the change in momentum made Kira and Decibolt smash into the ground. Kira groaned; Decibolt's ribs throbbed, his nose bleeding again.

"Now attack!"

"Gigantic Sonic Disc!" Decibolt fired; sparks neutralized it immediately.

"Okay, so a bigger disc. You can do better."

"Molecular Fusion!" Kira fused his leg with the pavement.

"So I can't move—what good does that do you?"

He deflected the disc as sparks danced on his fore arms

Decibolt dashed, dodging his own disc deflection, landing multiple bruising blows.

"Were those supposed to hurt?"

Techno punched Decibolt into the ground, reopening cuts and bruising his side.

"As for you..."

Electricity surged through the ground, shocking her and freeing Techno.

"That was an okay attempt. You get an A+ for effort, but I still want to see more—Electro Bolt."

Electric bolts rained down, and Kira and Decibolt scrambled, dodging with minor burns and scratches accumulating.

"You're running away from an attack? My Team Techno would never run from an attack!"

"Who said we were running from your attack?" Kira said, blood on her lip.

"Whose attack are you running from, then?" Techno demanded.

She pointed upward. A huge fused cluster descended, smashing Techno, sparking it disintegrating on impact. Minor burns and cuts stung them both.

"So you caught me off guard. It would have been better if it actually dealt some damage."

"Nah, I think it did some damage," Kira said, pointing at his suit.

"You scuffed my suit! This... actually, I have no idea what this is made of. But I do know, you're about to feel a whole lot of pain!"

An electrical explosion erupted, sending both heroes tumbling across the pavement. Cuts and burns streaked across their bodies.

"Quit yapping and finish the job," the summoner barked.

"But they are so weak, I can't help but—where did they go?"

A ripple portal opened beneath him, and he fell in. It reopened in the sky where Kira and Decibolt were also descending.

"Kinetic Punch Barrage!"

"Sonic Pulse Blast!"

They attacked before Decibolt reopened the portal, and they went in. It reopened on the ground. Techno released streams of electricity while falling.

"Repulsion Field!" Kira yelled; the streams reduced to tiny sparks.

"You've upped your game. I guess I should do the same." Techno appeared behind them, sending jolts of electricity that left minor burns and cuts.

"I can see you've undergone some changes. You have aura, and you've transformed. Hopefully, they aren't just for show."

"Up and Down Gravity!"

Decibolt unleashed a triple sonic blast. Techno crashed to the ground, cracks in the pavement echoing the impact.

"Okay, you're coming up. I can't afford to be caught off guard anymore."

"Electron Star!"

Kira hurled it back, sending him reeling.

"Redirecting my attack? That's impressive."

Decibolt landed multiple punches, finishing with a Decicannon that pushed Techno back further.

"I guess I'm no longer good in my current form—Electro Fury!"

The cube in his chest began to spark before streams of electricity flowed out of his body.

"Electro Fury 5!"

Electric rings encircled them, leaving burns and faint singe marks on their suits.

"Kinetic Punch!"

The ring exploded.

"Electro Fury 13!"

He charged an electric bolt and fired it like a cannon.

"Molecular Deci Shield!"

Shields shattered. Bruises, burns, and small bleeding scratches formed.

"It seems you've reached your limit. Don't be mad; you far exceeded my expectations. I'll make this quick but painful—Electro Fury 28!"

As he raised his hand, it sparked violently before powerful streams of electricity poured out, electrocuting them. He then punched the ground with great force sending them upwards before using an electric bolt to send them to the ground. He turned and began to walk away.

"We're not finished—not yet! Final Super Sonic Ripple Blast!"

"Superkinetic Punch!"

Techno deflected. They collapsed on the ground, winded, burned, bruised, with small streams of blood trickling from noses and cuts.

"Nice work, but just one thing: you drained my car battery while charging on of your attacks."

"That's not a problem." Techno tapped his cube; a bike materialized from streams of electicty.

They climbed on, battered but functional.

"He defeated me—me, of all people!" Decibolt groaned, clutching bruised ribs.

"Shut your whining," Kira said, smearing blood from her lip, opening a portal.

Guardian's Chamber

"You guys look terrible."

"Don't remind me—he was so strong."

"We only managed to scratch him."

"He said he was part of Team Techno, and you have two members right here. You can summon them and ask for a weakness."

"What were their names?"

"Overshot and Digi Blade."

"It's worth a shot.
