The Elite Four

"So tell me... Mio...? Mio is it, right?" the girl asked, folding some papers as if this was a job interview.

Two other girls sat next to her, eyeing me with clear skepticism.

"Uhm... yeah, I'm Mio. Mio Tanaka." I stuttered, feeling like an absolute fool.

She let out a quiet "Mhm" as she continued to fold the papers.
It was getting really quiet and awkward as we all just sat and stared at each other.

Finally, the girl finished her weird paper-folding business and spoke up.
"You know who we are... right, Mio?"

"Yeah, I do. You're the Elite Four! The popular girl group who goes around and bullies people."

She looked up at me and gave me a death stare. "Is that supposed to be an insult?"

"W-What? No, no of course not—"

"Good!" she said, annoyed, now fidgeting with her fingers.

"We've realized that you've kinda taken our... spot... if that makes sense."

I raised my eyebrow. "Uhm, not really... could you clarify?"

She sighed. "I mean like we've seen things. We saw you forcing two nerdy girls to lick the soda they 'accidentally' spilled the other day."
She began to smirk.

I became a little more nervous and began scratching my head. "Oh that? Well... they deserved it. I mean, how clumsy can you be to walk into someone with so much force that you spill a drink on the floor, am I right? Hehe..."

She smirked even more, then looked at the two girls next to her, then back at me. "Girls. I think she's the one..."

The girl sitting on the left with blonde pigtails and a cute pink heart-patterned skirt spoke up, "Are you serious, Sato-chan? We know absolutely nothing about the girl yet and suddenly she's 'in'?"

"I didn't say she was in. I just said she might be the one."

The girl on the right, who was a little chubby and had long pink hair, spoke up next, "Well, we need more info on her."

She then glared at me. "Speak!"

"M-Me?"

She sighed and rolled her eyes. "I'm looking at you, I'm speaking to you, so who do you think?"

I nodded. "Ok, sorry... so uh, you need info or—"

They all groaned except for the girl in the middle, who I believed was the leader of this group.

"Yes, otherwise you can scram off. The door's right there!" the girl on the left yelled.

"Shut up and let her speak," the leader said.

Ok, calm down Mio. You're about to join the most feared group in the entire school. Don't mess this up. Tell them about your backstory and your bullying skills. Yeah... yeah, that will work!

I took a deep breath. "Ok, so my name's Mio and—"

"Well, no shit—" one of them interrupted.

"LET HER SPEAK!" the leader yelled.

"Thank you. As I was saying, my name's Mio and I've been a bully since I can ever remember. I've made people's lives miserable for fun, because you know... bullying is fun...?"

Why am I rambling? Come on Mio, you got this! Don't get off track!

The leader nodded her head. "Keep going."

She began taking notes, which made me more nervous and made my heart beat faster.

I nodded my head back and continued.
"I'm an expert at making people fear me. I used to have a lot of people who feared me back in elementary and middle school... and I have cool parents, kinda... they don't care about me, so I do what I want around the school and they can complain to my parents, they won't give a shit."

"Good, good... continue," she said, taking notes.

I nodded and began stuttering. "W-Well... I-I don't have much to say..."

"That's a bummer..." the leader said. "Nothing? Really nothing?"

I then thought of something I could include to boost my chances of joining.
"Actually, I have a story on how I made a nerd's life so miserable he changed schools. Wanna hear?"

"Make it quick," she said.

"Ok, so in elementary school there was this boy with the name Kai, and he was like the nerdiest boy ever. He was so lame and like... nerdy, so I bullied him constantly, every day and every time I saw him outside school. He then switched schools to escape from me because of all the damage I've done to him and—"

"Let me stop you there, Mio," she interrupted.

Crap... did I say something wrong...?

"You got some potential, you seem like a genuine bully,"

I smiled. "Thank you—"

"Don't interrupt me."

And now my smile faded. "Sorry."

She sighed and continued. "Given we need a fourth member and that every other student in this school is a freaking geek, I think it's best to let you join. You just gotta learn some stuff, you know? But don't worry, we'll teach you."

My smile returned as I heard that I was now officially a member of the group. "Really? Thank you, I won't disappoint."

"I hope not," she muttered.

She then wrote the last few words on the paper before looking up again and reaching out her hand.

"I suppose I should introduce myself," she said as I took her hand and shook it. "I'm Koharu Sato. Call me Sato-chan if you'd like. I'm the leader of 'The Elite Four,' everything I say, you rock with it without complaints, got it?"

"Yeah, got it. A-And nice to meet you."

Sato turned around and gave the two other girls a look, signaling them to introduce themselves.

The blonde girl with the cute skirt rolled her eyes but eventually walked up to me and also reached her hand out toward me. Although she looked chill, she still had a skeptical look on her face.
"Name's Fuma Watanabe. Call me Wata-chan for short..."

I shook her hand and nodded, muttering, "Nice to meet you too."

The pink-haired chubby girl also walked up to me. She looked more chill and even had a little smirk on her face.
"Himari Ito, call me Ito for short too. If you ever want me to teach you some bullying skills, just tell me, alright?"

I nodded. "Sure, I'll do that."

"Mio," Sato said.

I instantly shifted my focus toward Sato. "Yeah?"

"Sit with us in class tomorrow. No more needing to sit next to that nerd Mei, alright."

I nodded. "Yeah sure, I'll sit with you guys tomorrow."

"Good. We'll see you then."

The girls then walked away and I was left speechless and shocked at what just happened.
"No way that just happened..." I muttered. "Now everybody will actually fear me! Hell yeah, hehehehe!"
