Chapter 4:
A World Without You...
"Shion..."
A distant voice called out to me in the vast darkness.
"Shion!"
Whose voice is it?
"Shion! I want to tell you something reeeeally important!"
No... Don't say it!
"I..."
DON'T SAY IT!
Jolted awake, I feel lightheaded, like I ran a marathon.
"Hah... J-Just a dream..."
Looking outside my window, I noticed that the sun was high up in the sky.
Damnit! I overslept!
I dashed towards my wardrobe, but the sudden ringing of my phone stopped me. Picking it up, I rolled my eyes as I answered.
"Why are you calling me now?! I'm going to be even more late because of you!"
"Oh, are you meeting up with someone on a saturday morning? Is it a date?!"
Haruto's voice radiated with excitement, which in turn made me irritated.
"I'm talking about— Wait, today is saturday?!"
With my effort wasted, my body slowly collapsed onto the bed, feeling relieved.
"You didn't know?! Man, and they call me an idiot..."
"Two to the power of five equals?"
"Um... Ten?"
For the first time in a while, I wished that he didn't go to the same school as I.
"You are hopeless..."
"Hey!"
"Anyway, why are you calling me?"
"Oh, yeah, almost forgot! Since I don't have practice today, I thought that we could hang out together? Maybe even hit on some ladies at the mall!"
Not wanting to go with him, I tried to think of a good excuse.
"Um, sorry man, but I..."
Not even a moment after, my bedroom door was violently kicked open.
"Oi, Kojima, drag your ass down! You're on breakfast duty today!"
The blonde haired boy, who was wearing a black shirt and white shorts, glared at me with his green eyes.
"A-a, I'll be down in a second, Shin!"
Giving me one last final glance, he walked down the hallway, disappearing from my sight.
"Look Haruto, I'm preparing for an upcoming exam, so I really think that—"
"Don't give me that lame excuse! You're coming, and that's it! We haven't hung out together since the beginning of high school!"
Feeling defeated, I let out a heavy sigh.
"Fine... Just—"
"KOJIMA!"
A shiver ran down my spine as I heard an angry voice yell from downstairs.
"Nevermind, just send me the details."
"Okay, I hope you come out alive!"
I gritted my teeth as I hung up and ran downstairs.
Dorm life sucks!
Waiting for me downstairs were all eight boys I shared the dorm with, sitting around the wooden table.
"Huh, it's weird seeing you all together."
"You expect us to ignore this cocky bastard's yelling?"
Raku, the green-haired boy, adjusted his glasses while he glared at Shin.
"Hey Raku, did you just say that you want to get pounded?! Cause I could do that EASILY!"
They both stood up and walked over to each other while glaring.
Not another fight...
"Now, now, I know you two are grumpy, but let's just calm down a little bit."
Hiro, the brown-haired boy, got in between them while speaking in calm manner.
"Just because you're a third year doesn't mean you can order me!"
"Yeah, you're only good at kissing teachers a—"
Before Raku could finish his sentence, he and Shin were punched in the gut, which made them fall to their knees.
"There we go! Have you both calmed down?"
Hiro towered over them with a sinister looking smile, making the scared boys nod in fear.
"Shion—"
*yawn*
"could you—"
*yawn*
"hurry up with breakfast?"
"Alright, Ren—"
Facing the red-haired boy, I noticed that he already fell asleep. Again.
How tiring is his chess training?!
Waving to Jin, Tetsuro, and Takashi, I walk into the dorm's kitchen and opened the fridge.
That dumbass!
I leaned over the counter to see that Raku and Shin were fighting again.
"Hiro, it seems that Shin devoured your ceasar salad! He even left a note. The salad sucked!"
The blond-haired boy started shaking while Hiro glared at him with murderous intent.
"H-How can you be so sure it's me? I didn't write my name on it!"
"And how did you know there was no name written on it when I didn't even show you the note?"
A smug smile was on my face while Shin gulped as he turned around.
"Shin... What did we say about eating other people's food?"
Not wanting to keep the others waiting, I grabbed a pan and heated it over the stove while Shin's cries were coming from the dinning room. When I served scrambled and sunny side up eggs, everyone devoured them like they haven't eaten in days. After we finished, I cleaned the plates before collapsing onto the sofa in the living room.
I'll be meeting up with Haruto around three PM, so I still have four and a half hours to kill...
Just as I turned the TV on, a knock came from the entrance.
Who could it be?
I wondered to myself as I walked over to the entrance and slid the door open.
"Miss Saito...? Do you need something?"
Standing in front of me was Miss Saito, the assigned professor for the boys dorm. She would often come to check if we've been keeping the dorm clean. There was an instance when the other guys held a party, and when she came to check next morning... Everyone wished they didn't exist... Since then, we've been keeping the dorm as clean as possible.
"If you have paid attention to the news, you should know."
Suddenly, I noticed that behind her was a group of girls with their belongings.
Don't tell me...
"One part of the girls dorm was caught on fire, and there aren't enough rooms left there."
God, why?
"Since there is more than enough space left in the boys dorm, the headmaster decided to move the girls, who don't have a room, over to the boys dorm for a while."
I just knew it...
Surprisingly, the group of girls didn't seem displeased.
"The school already installed a door that separates the boys and girls sides, with a key given to every girl. We even installed security cameras inside every area, except bedrooms and bathrooms."
Ah, now I get it... Fair.
"Now that you are caught up, could you inform the rest of the boys while the girls settle down?"
"Of course! I'll bring them down!"
Oh boy, this is going to be hectic.
Climbing up the stairs, I started yelling.
"EVERYONE, EMERGENCY MEETING DOWNSTAIRS!"
It took a few minutes for everyone to get down. They were all sitting on the sofa and armchairs with irritated looks.
"What is this about?"
"Thanks for asking, Ren. You see... some girls are going to be living in our dorm for a while."
It took them a moment to process my words before collectively yelling:
"WHAT?!"
