Chapter 5:

The walk

R.E.M.

Children playing, people talking outdoors and many walking in their vehicles, that was the movement that generated the first weekend of every month on the main street of the city. The climate was relaxed and affable, very contrasting with the mood of Mio, who walked slowly towards the laboratory as he did every day except Sundays. That contrast struck her greatly, so after walking two blocks down the main avenue, she took a detour throught a residential aream where the movement was noticeably minor. On the same road is Tam, who is also fleeing the turmoil.

"Tam! Good morning," Mio says as she hurriedly approaches.

"Hi, Mio. I didn't expect to see you around here," Tam replies in surprise.

"Today I preferred to take a little detour, so many people are a little overwhelmed."

"I'm in the same situation."

"by the way, yesterday I read one of the papers that Lucas sent me, but the truth is that I didn't understand much, could you help me?"

"Of course, then let me see it and we'll read it together, okay?"

"Sure!" Mio was relieved.

Despite the situation they were in, the girls were doing their best of keep their spirits up.

"And how are you doing with Lucas?" Mio asked.

"Well, the working relationship we have is excellent, I can't ask for more, can I?"

"I think so."

"And what would you ask?" Now the one who was interested in a prompt response was Tam.

"Being me, nothing, but being you..." Mio Smiled.

"You only get ideas, between us there is only a relationship of study colleagues, of research."

"If it were only that, Lucas wouldn't have paid with his own money for the date at that fancy cafe at the mall." Mio finished, as she got ahead on the road.

"W-wait, didn't that purchase charge as a per diem? Mio?" Tam claimed an explanation, but the girl just kept getting further and further away.
