Chapter 3:

there is no guilt for the corrupted.

your morbid screams are melody to the dreadful ones.

most of the people had left the bus. right now, there are only five people left.

a man named Norman Blackwood, an old lawyer named Olga, a librarian named Albert, a writer with tendency for the theatrical named Marcelo, and Detective Miller's parter. a young policewoman named Catherynne Swayer.

Olga is an old lawyer who has made a fortune getting the wrong people out of prison. she has a target behind her back from multiple people who had been wronged by her clients. after decades dedicating herself to building a perfect reputation, she has reached a point on her life in which she is too old to create a family. and there is no one to share her fortune. she was riding the bus tonight as she contemplated the possibility of adopting.

Albert is an old librarian hitting his late sixties. he used to be a hitman for the mafia. he executed so many innocent and guilty alike. there was never a moment in which he felt guilt. he justified his actions by saying, "you can't blame a sword for cutting, and a sword I am." now on his elder age, the man tries to help those in need. maybe a way to repent for his sins.

Marcelo Moreno is a writer who drowns on guilt. he was drunk driving once. he was probably under the influence of other things. he loses control of his senses for once. then some lights hit him on the face before losing his senses. that night he was the cause of a crash. he was able to escape with his body intact. sadly, on the opposite side there was a family that lose their lives, all because his bravado lied to him.

Catherynne Swayer is a young beautiful lady. she has used her beauty to her advantage. and she has used her brains to make her life easy. she has taken bribes from criminals. she has slept with one or two married coworkers before. she has stolen from others out of petty. and as of late she has tried to fix her old ways. she actually fell in love with Francesco.

and finally, we have the man of the mystery. Norman Blackwood. a man with no backstory no origins before he was reborn as "Authority" the leader of a cult. a man who has guided his followers to commit atrocities just out of curiosity. a man of twisted morals. a vile creature of the night like no other. a true wolf on human skin.

all five of them are strangers to one another. all five of them are full of twisted and disturbing things that are the core of their being. all five of them on another tale would be the final boss or a villain of the month. in here they all are "normal people," who blends among the normal while keeping their true ego hidden.

while others left in a hurry trying to find a refuge. they stayed behind believing in the words of a simple detective and few other strangers. now it has been about two hours since they left.

"Are you a believer?" asks Blackwood as he approaches Marcelo.

"Not really. I was, but the melancholy, and other things had made the question the importance of believing in what you can't see nor touch." said Marcelo with a sad facial expression.

they have nothing in common. stablishing a simple conversation feels complicated and even more awkward at every attempt. the sound of the upcoming rain adds flavor to the awkwardness that keeps them on the edge of their seats.

then after a long wait Detective Francesco Miller finally arrives with Anton Borisov. the two of them are surprised that there are people waiting for them. and also disappointed that mostly everyone else is gone. they get out of their seats and follow the Preacher & the Detective.

the fog is mostly gone. the streets are empty. almost every building is bright and loud showing off an excentric tone unique of this town. there is something off-putting about the absolute silence embracing them tonight.

"There is something abnormal about a silent street. I am not talking about the lack of people, but there are no cars. to sounds. no animals. is like walking into a ghost town, but it feels alive. the appearance of the town doesn't match its emptiness. is like walking inside a void." said Preacher Borisov as he holds a crucifix tightly.

nobody else mentioned the dreadful scene, as it felt like a bad omen to talk about what obviously is a freaky situation, and not of the fun kind. they all pretended that everything was fine. or at least try to keep their minds occupy with something else.

"May the love of the lord guide you, brothers and sisters." said Anton as he holds a bible tightly close to his chest.

eventually all seven of them reach their final destination. they all stop in front of the hotel. right away a beauty comes out to welcome them. Jessica is kind and nice to them. she starts talking about the history of the town. she guides each individual to their respective rooms.

at the end of the night only ten out of twenty-four people were able to rest inside the hotel while the rest of them had to find ways to survive the night.

among those who had to struggle to survive, there was a small group. three childhood friends who had just reunited after a decade apart. and two strangers at their side. to predict their future is like trying to read a book that haven't been published yet.

the waves of destiny are entangled as roses with spines. it is unclear how much the hand has to bleed before it can reach the rose without getting cut by the spines.

among all the figures walking lost on the streets. or those trying to find refuge inside a building that feel so vivid as if it was a living being. none of them is ready for the grand entrance of the man running the place, Mayor August Fisherman.
