Chapter 2:
your morbid screams are melody to the dreadful ones.
Detective Francesco Miller walks around the streets with a gun on hand. with the other hand he holds a cigar that burns without touching his lips. the fog seems to be clearer. the bright moon cast a shadow on the detective that makes it seem like if a beast is standing behind the detective. he stands with a clear mind.
a man hitting his sixties comes into the picture. at his side is a preacher holding a bible tightly. the two of them seem to be under stress.
"The night as an evil mistress is trying to seduce us. to find shelter and rest should be our primordial duty as men of fate." said the preacher.
"I agree with the puritan next to me. something here smells, and it isn't like flowers. it smells like human waste in a not so literal sense. let's get some refuge to rest for the night."
"I fear we haven't introduced each other properly. the name is Francesco Miller. I am a detective who has been under the trail of an infamous killer." said the detective.
"I am Anton Borisov, I am a preacher. nice to meet you." said the preacher with a serene and harmless voice as he keeps darkness hidden behind his eyes.
"The name is Massimo Bianchi. former crime lord." said the old gangster with no care in the world if a person or two know of his past.
the three men meet on the way with the doctor and the nurse. there are two of them missing. but they don't have all the time of the world. they keep searching for a place to spend the night.
then out of nowhere the fog makes way directing them right in front of a massive hotel. out of nowhere all the lights around the hotel turn on. the lights are of a purple color. Massimo feeling exhausted for the age decides to go inside. the doctor and the nurse follow him. Anton and detective Miller return to inform the others of the hotel.
for a moment the doctor stops the nurse. they walk towards a room full of mirrors. Doctor Robert Hall seems to be sweating nervously. as for nurse Helen Mayers seems to not care. there is a massive secret as chains holding them back. stopping them from finding moral freedom. and Doctor Hall has finally given up on pretending to be alright.
"We are sinners. I saw what you did to those kids. the ones you terminated before their time. and I am a fool. I didn't do or said anything out of love. but maybe if I let the authorities have you. maybe then I can find peace of the mind." said Robert almost whispering.
"don't let ideocracy reign on you. you are as much of a monster as I am. you may even be worse than me. I did it for the little ones. that was the only way to save their souls from this realm of sin and indecency. but you, you didn't do a single thing. you knew what I was doing, but you kept silent thinking that way you could win my heart. once you realized I wasn't one to be won, then you choose to see me as a monster. then tell me doctor. who is the real monster?"
there is a moment of silence. then laughter interrupts the silence. the laughter seems to be coming from the mirrors decorating the room. the door is locked. it becomes clear that they are trap on their tomb. then long twisted tree branches with claws try to grab them.
"Oh god. oh, no." whispers the doctor stupefied.
hands with orange gloves come out of the mirrors and pull parts of their bodies distorting the proportions of their bodies. they start to look grotesque. the human element erased from their bodies as a cosmetic gene that was long gone on time.
the two of them look like grotesque specimens exiled from a circus due to the fact that they were too vile and disturbing, even for the standards of the most extreme circus. then two hands start to push them closer to each other until they fused into a single entity. the monstrosity that was left was too unpleasant to look at to describe.
that creature was swallow by the biggest mirror. then figures are reflected on all the mirrors in the room. the figures start to laugh manically.
on the meantime, old Massimo is sitting on an antique sofa by a chimney. the fire jumps illuminating the rustic room of a greenish, closer to yellow color. there is a small, rounded table in front of old Massimo. on top of the table a chessboard. he plays by himself with a glass of wine on his right hand. a lit cigar on the table close to the king.
there is a loud noise as that of footsteps. the floor is so old that every step makes noise akin to that of sorrowful cries coming from the wooden floor. a person finally presents himself. he takes a chair and sits in front of Massimo. he is silent. there is something sinister about him.
"You are brave child. not many have the guts to sit next to an old dog like me." said Massimo with a smirk that was hardly visible.
"I don't see the reason to be afraid of old dogs. the older the dog, the bigger they bark. old dogs have the quality of being all about bark, and nothing about bite." said an arrogant young man who lacks the self-awareness to understand the gravity of the situation.
"There lies a fine line between arrogant bravado and stupidity, you are not being brave. you are being foolish by presuming to be courageous while marking your own tombstone." the gentle smirk of an old gentleman turned into a sinister smile full of malice.
"The name is Antonio, Antonio Valverde. as I was born fatherless, my mother had to use her own surname instead of that of the man who wasn't alive at the moment to grant his own. as a fatherless man I had to work hard to not become a Godless man."
before they could continue with their conversation a young beautiful lady presents herself with a humble smile and gratitude. a blonde beauty named Jessica, who seems to be the person running the hotel all by herself. she asks if there is anything they could need.
both men deny any kind of service. they seem to have a lot to talk about. then another lady joins the heated conversation. a young lady wearing green contact glasses, a blue thick sweater, brown jeans, and curly brown hair on a ponytail. she presents herself as Beth.
"I hope I wasn't distracting you gentlemen. but I saw the chessboard. is any of ya fellows down to have a fun little play with a beauty as myself." said the cheerful Beth.
the two men laugh loudly. then they say goodbye as they return to their respective rooms.
