Chapter 1: The Lonely Baby in the Forest

If this is like an isekai, I can probably see my stats. So I raised one of my arms straight forward and opened my hand. Since I couldn't speak properly, I just said this in my mind: 

"Status". 

I was amazed at what I saw. Suddenly, letters and numbers appeared. They spontaneously wrote themselves in the air, in front of me. Afterwards, this is what it stated:

Wow, that's great, it worked! 

I can see my own stats. Hm, let's see... Oh, it seems I don't have a name. Why is that? Well, my stats are pretty normal for a baby like me, except for the Intelligence which has two digits. So the system maybe recognizes my knowledge and the fact that I'm a baby with its own consciousness makes me feel unique, huh. 

My HP is the real problem here because I'll be dead in two hits from an enemy, or maybe even just one hit. After checking my basic stats, I look down at my skills. The first thing that caught my attention was "magic". My spirit was revived. This is an otaku's dream come true. Earth magic... makes sense, huh. Maybe this is because I came from another Earth or another world. 

I don't quite understand my skills, but let's try. 
First, "assistance voice activate", I said in my mind. Suddenly I heard a voice.

"Hello, I'm assistance voice, your helper".

Woah! Hey, what can you do?

"I announce every update in your body and I can explain some basic things too, just like your skills."

Wow, that's pretty useful. Can you explain my skills now?

"Very well. The Basic Skill Collector is a skill with the ability to adapt just one skill from your enemy. This means you can learn the adapted skill by consuming your skill points. Meanwhile, Basic Appraisal is the ability to see the stats of a being, but it is limited only to G-rank monsters. These two skills work together; appraisal is used to see the enemy's skill, and you use adapt to choose one skill to acquire the skill you want."

Ohhh, that's great... So it's like a combo skill. 

Another question, assistance voice, what does my spell "Stone bullet" do?

"Stone bullet is your only offensive skill. Making a stone like a ball out of mana, at the size of an arm's fist, then launches it straight at a high speed." 

Okay, that's impressive. 

Good thing I have been given these skills. It's like a great blessing for me. Now I need to make a move. Let's get out of here. Once again, I looked at my location. 

It's actually high up. How can I get down? I changed position to crawling and peeked below. I estimate the height is about my height when standing. But for a baby, this is very dangerous. It seems I have no choice but to wait here for a while. So I sat down first. I only now noticed that the altar I was sitting on was covered with cloth. I looked around again and observed the beautiful scenery of nature. In the distance, I seemed to spot something where there were fewer trees. It looked like a floating ball. 

I have a bad feeling about this. My natural instinct activated, so I immediately stood up and assumed a position. As it approached, I clearly saw it. A monster?

It was about the size of a basketball. It was a pale green color with a slight yellow tint, and the surface looked wet and shiny.As it got closer, I noticed the bulging parts that resembled eyes, even though it didn't have real pupils. Below it was a small crack that looked like a mouth, and thin smoke was slowly coming out of it. 

Okay, just remain calm. I will show the capabilities of a gamer like me. So, without further ado, I used "Appraisal", and its stats appeared:

Assistance voice: "Danger is approaching" 

Thank you, Voice, so I immediately used my other skill: "Skill Collector Activate".

Even though I don't know how to use it yet, so let's try.

Yes! Nice.

Now for my magic:

I raised my hand forward, pointing at the enemy. I imagined a stone. Then, a warm current seemed to flow from my chest down to my arm and hand. 

Woah! So this is the feeling of my magic...
Slowly it accumulated in my palm. Then a stone the size of a grain appeared. Krrrk... krrrk..., slowly it grew, until it was the size of a fist. 

"Stone bullet"

Fwhoosh!, the stone flew from my palms very quickly. Shhhk!, It went straight into the monster's body. 

Thok!, it hit the monster. SPLAAK! Sssplrrt...Pshhk. Its body exploded and fell apart. Along with this was the spread of poisonous green gas from its exploded body. 

Nice, I hit it!

Yay, I leveled up. It's a good thing I one-hit it, because if it got close to me, I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to avoid its explosion. Basically, this is a type of monster that's like a bomb. 

Now let's see the updates, "Status."

Updates: Status points: 2; Skill points: 1; Learnable skill: Lesser levitate: Requires 1 point 

Hmm... Because I'm relying now on my skills, and the fact that a baby can't fight head-on. So I put all these points into my MP. Then I consume my skill point to learn lesser levitate. 

"Congratulations! You've learned a new skill."

"Lesser Levitate Acquired!"

"Your body now can levitate at a maximum of 3 feet above the ground. This costs 1 MP per minute." 

Cool. Now I can get out of here and move freely on the land.
