Chapter 6:

The chapter after the rainy chapter

It's yuri after all!

Ugh, this is going to be awkward….But I need to apologise to Yaoi-senpai!

Yuri thinks as she is standing in front of the student council room. She takes a deep breath and:

Okay, here we go. - she opens the door.

“Ah! Oh Yuri, it’s you.”

But this time it’s only the vice president, who is present.

He hid his phone in a quick motion as Yuri opened in.

“Don’t scare me like that, I thought you were a teacher.”

He relaxes and casually puts away his phone. He is not sitting at Yaoi’s desk, but instead at a desk that wasn’t previously in the room.

“Uhm, sorry. Where’s Yaoi-senpai?”

Yuri asks, a bit taken aback from the unexpected situation.

“Oh, she is sick, so she didn’t come to school.” - Minato answers.

“Huh? She’s...” - Yuri thinks back on the events of the day before and guilt washes over her.

“Is she okay?”

“Hm? Oh yeah. But you don’t have to worry about her too much. She gets sick quite often, so I’m sure she is going to be alright soon.” - He says.

“I mean it’s prez we’re talking about.”

“Wait, really? I didn’t know she had a weak constitution.” - Yuri now feels even worse about yesterday.

“I don’t really know the circumstances, but I think she’s always been like this.”

Upon hearing this Yuri sees Yaoi in a bit of a different light.

She’s like that and she’s also the student council president… Huh? Then what about the... - Something pops into Yuri’s mind:

“The sports day! Do you need any help with it? I don’t know how much use I can be, but I want to help!” - Yuri exclaims.

“Oh, you don’t need to worry about that either.” - He says with a proud look on his face.

“It’s another strong point of the president. She knows that she can become sick at any moment, so we’re always working waaay ahead of schedule. Ah, this just goes to show how great she is.”

Wow, that’s actually pretty impressive..Oh, so that’s why we started preparing for it so early.

Yuri now understands the meeting that happened a few weeks before.

“But still, there must be something I can help with...” - Yuri says, still feeling somewhat responsible.

“Hmm. Actually there is something...” - He says and gets a bit embarrassed:

“I thought I was mentally prepared for this, but it looks like I’ll take the easy way out.”

Yuri gets a bit curious from this leadup. He takes out a folder that has a few papers in it and hands it to Yuri:

“I was supposed to take this to prez’s house, but I don’t have enough courage to do it!” - He admits, in an honest tone.

“Oh, right! Weren’t you supposed to like Yaoi-senpai?”

Yuri asks as she remembers what the vice president said when she first met him.

“I-I mean yeah, but still. And anyway this is the only thing you can help with, everything else is pretty much done for the sports day.”

“Okay, I’ll do it.” - Yuri says and thinks:

This way I should be able to apologise to her as well.

“Thank you and then here’s the address.” - He gives a small note with an address on it to Yuri.

After school ends Yuri goes searching for Yaoi’s house.

Ugh, senpai lied when she said that she lives close to the station.

Yuri thinks as she is about 30 minutes from the spot the two of them parted the last time.

But I think this should be the place.

Yuri looks up from the piece of paper that the vice president gave her and she is left speechless. She is standing in front of a huge mansion.

Yuri checks the address a number of times, but it looks like she is at the right place. She just stands there for a few moments, wondering what she should do.

Eventually she gathers the courage to carefully press the bell. Almost immediately an unfamiliar voice comes out from the panel connected to the button:

“Yes? Who is it?”

Yuri gets startled by the unexpected development, but she quickly answers:

“Uhm, I’m Miyuzumi Yuri, a student at Haruki high school. I help out Yaoi-senpai with the student council and I brought a few things for her.”

A few second of silence later the voice answers:

“Alright, come in. I’ll escort you to Miss Watanabe.”

As soon as he stops speaking the large gate opens by itself. Yuri looks around, but she still can’t see anyone. She carefully starts walking in while letting her eyes wander.

...Wow, I didn’t know her family was this rich.

Yuri thinks as the scenery around her screams expensive.

As she gets to the front door of the mansion it opens and an older looking gentleman is waiting for her:

“Good evening Miss Miyuzumi. My name is Sabastian and I serve the Watanabe family. Now, let me escort you to her room.”

Wow, a real butler?! Even his name fits his image. - Yuri thinks to herself.

He leads Yuri down a few hallways and eventually he stops in front of a room.

“This is Miss Watanabe’s room. If I can be of service in any other way, just ask me.”

“O-okay, thank you.”

“Now, if you’ll excuse me.” - He says and walks away.

Yuri looks around and after confirming that there’s no one in sight she takes a deep breath.

Okay! Let’s do this. - she thinks an opens in.

“Ah Yuri, what a surprise!” - Yaoi says after recognising Yuri.

Her bedroom is pretty huge as well, although from the size of the mansion it’s kind of expectable. What isn’t however is that Yaoi is sitting at her desk, instead of lying in bed.

“Ah, ehm. Hello senpai. How are you feeling?” - Yuri asks as she looks Yaoi over.

She is wearing a nightgown so she probably rested a bit already. Regarding her physical wellbeing, she more or less looks alright and her face doesn’t show any sign of sickness. These observations make Yuri feel a bit more relieved.

“I’m doing relatively well.” - Yaoi casually replies.

“Really?”

Yuri knows that Yaoi’s acting skills are very impressive, so she wants to make sure.

“Oh? Were you expecting to find me in a delirious state? Sorry to ruin the clishé, but I’m fine.” - Yaoi says.

“As you can see.” - she motions to herself, but she keeps sitting. After a moment Yaoi remembers something:

“Ah sorry, I forgot to stand up.” - She says and then gets out of her chair.

She wobbles a bit, but she manages to do it.

Eh? Is she really alright? - Yuri’s concerns resurface.

“The vice president asked me to bring these for you...”

Yuri hands over the folder to Yaoi, while keeping an eye on her.

“Ah, yes! Thank you. I’ll take care of them later.”

Yaoi says and puts the folder on the very edge of her desk. And after a moment it falls down to the ground. Yuri looks at Yaoi, however she just keeps talking like nothing happened:

“But now that you’re here, I have something I would highly recommend to you.”

Yaoi says and walks over to her bookcase, which is completely filled with mangas.

Yuri is momentarily shocked by the amount of books that the bookcase has, but she shakes it off and walks over to pick up the folder from the ground. She is about to put it on the desk, but she notices something weird.

On Yaoi’s desk there are a number of papers scattered about, but what’s more unusual is what is on them:

They all have some kind of drawings which either a kid or a psychopath would make. Yuri carefully picks one up to take a closer look at it.

It depicts Kei and Rin doing something like a three legged race. Yuri can tell who those characters are, not because of the quality of the drawing, but because it has their names written above them. The “art” itself is pretty bad.

Eh, this is what she has been working on?

Yuri thinks as she glances around at the other drawings, but they all have a similar a style.

*Bang*

Her thought process gets interrupted by the sound of something falling down. She turns around to see Yaoi still standing at the bookcase, but there’s a pile of books on the ground that weren’t there a moment ago.

However before Yuri could react, Yaoi goes back to her with a book in hand, like nothing happened.

“This is my favourite manga, so I think you would like it as well. Here, you can borrow it.” - Yaoi says and hands out the book.

Yuri has a bad feeling about how Yaoi has been acting so far and she decides to address it.

Instead of taking the book she places her hands on Yaoi’s shoulders, looks her in the eyes and says:

“Hey, are you okay?” - with sincere worry in her voice.

“...” - Yaoi averts her eyes.

After the lack of response Yuri places her hand on Yaoi’s head and sure enough it’s way too hot.

She shakes her head a bit then places the book on the desk from Yaoi’s hands and then leads her towards her bed.

“Wait, what are you..”

Yaoi tries to resist, but she can’t really put up much of a fight. Then Yuri sits her down on her bed and either because of the sickness or she’s just physically not really strong, but Yuri does it relatively easily. After that she pretty much puts Yaoi to bed.

“There, you aren’t allowed to get up until you’re really feeling better!”

She says and then she brings a chair to the side of the bed and sits down.

“But I’m..” - Yaoi is about to object, but Yuri’s stern look stops her.

“Come on. You should sleep. I’ll stay here for some time.” - Yuri sincerely says.

“...” - Yaoi looks away from Yuri and stays quiet for a few moments. Then she quietly says:

”..Thank you.”

Ah, it would be nice if she was always this honest.

Yuri thinks, as she could barely make out what Yaoi said. Yuri smiles a bit and murmurs to herself:

“I mean, it is kind of my fault.”

But it seems like Yaoi caught that as well. She looks at Yuri and then thinks for a few moments.

“Hmm. Not really. Like, it’s my shortcoming that I’m so bad with physical contact. Although, I didn’t really experience it before, so I’m not used to it… But I couldn’t believe that you would immediately exploit it.” - she says while pouting.

Wha.. I didn’t know she could make an expression like that.

Yuri thinks to herself as she makes the discovery. But then she remembers that she kind of came here to apologise:

“I-I’m sorry!”

“Hmm. It’s okay, it didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. It was a bit different...”

Yuri waits for Yaoi to finish her sentence. However when nothing happens for a while she looks at Yaoi. But she seems to have fallen asleep.

“Hm, it’s much easier to deal with you like this...but be sure to get better soon.”

After this Yuri stayed with Yaoi for a while, but then she left with the book she was recommended after tidying up the room a bit.
