Chapter 1:
Livelihood Dungeon! (English Version)
When he regained his conciousness upon his arrival on the goddess' world, Peter immediately heard a rustling sound. His jaw dropped open at the same time as he opened his now widening eyes. What his vision sighted for the first time upon arriving in this brand new world was a tall and rocky hill in front of him.
When Peter recovered from his euphoric feeling, the new representative of the goddess immediately tried to find the source of the sound that was becoming more apparent to him. It's increasingly sounded like trickling water rather than the rustling of some tree leaves.
When Peter looked down he finally realized the true source of that sound.
What he saw amazed him to no end. It's a crystal-clear body of water that was free-flowing. A gargantuan stream that he can't see the whole size just by using his mundane eyes. That's when Peter became so sure that he's no longer on his old world, Earth.
In his twenty plus years of living on Earth, there never was a time he saw a stream as clean as this one. All he ever saw were bodies of water polluted in the hands of humans.
He touched his face.
As a testament to its cleanliness, Peter was able to use the inflowing stream water as a mirror.
"There's no change. Did I really die? Why do I look the same then?" the lad asked, partially rotating his head side to side as he also squinted his eyes hard.
After his initial amazement of the stream subsided, Peter began to look around.
The young man turned around and he saw another tall and rocky hill. Afterwards, he turned to his left. He realized something in doing so. The distance between the hills is too narrow. And although the stream's length is close to infinite, its width is quite the opposite. Just like the distance between the two hills enclosing it, the stream is narrower. That's how he concluded that he's inside of a certain type of landform right now, a valley.
Meanwhile, the ground he stood on is a narrow road made of dirt located in between the stream and the two hills.
Peter wiped his sweaty forehead.
He glanced at the sky.
He put his right hand across his forehead so he won't have to look directly at the sun. The sun was not hazy. There's a low chance of raining. The blue sky was full of white floating clouds, all slowly moving eastwards.
The sun shines majestically on all beings who were busy with their daily activities, he hypothetically assumed.
Based on Peter's observation, it was still noontime according to the positioning of the sun as well as the current heat of the atmosphere, that is if this world was indeed a parallel Earth as the goddess have told him.
Peter dropped one knee on the ground. He put both of his palms together. He lowered them to the stream to scoop some water. The young lad used the first one to wash his perspiring face. He then drank the ones after that to relieve the dryness of his throat. He felt refreshed.
Peter started to walk away from that place after quenching his thirst.
With every step he took, his heart thumped uncontrollably.
Peter felt a mixture of nervousness and excitement.
Nervous because he had no idea about the new world he will now have to live in.
There's also concern of the dangers that he may face from now on.
Excited because of his growing expectations for the good things and events like being able to use magic.
Peter began threading the narrow passage hoping to find some sort of a community. Hopefully, a human settlement and a kind one at that.
...
"Aaah!" Peter shrieked on the top of his lungs, the roof of his mouth was in plain view.
The young lad was running fast. He was running faster than an Olympic runner through a woodlands. Not long after, the real reason of why he was able to reach this amazing feat despite being a normal person was revealed.
A wild wolf was chasing after Peter.
The colour on Peter's face completely disappeared after he took a quick peek behind him.
He grumbled. "Damn my shitty luck!"
He saw that the once ferocious wolf chasing after him now looked just as desperate. Right now, a huge figure was running after that wild wolf.
Because of that, Peter was able to surpass his own limits to run even faster. Though, the young lad was panicking too much that he didn't remember the new power he acquired from this world's goddess.
The huge figure lunged at the wolf who was chasing Peter. When the huge figure was about to get ahold of the much smaller wolf, a larger shadow descended on the huge figure.
Peter alertly looked behind him when he heard a banging sound there.
The man's heart thumped wildly in terror. What he saw was a gargantuan bear feasting on an equally humongous wild boar. Well, the wild bear was a bit smaller than the wild boar, but still, the two are more or less two meters in height from Peter's estimate. They're both enormous.
The man stopped himself from throwing up after witnessing the bear feasting on the now dead boar.
On another hand, the wolf who used to chase Peter was now lying on the ground, with both front paws covering its eyes while it quivered.
Peter's fear was somewhat relieved by the wild wolf's odd and funny state.
Thanks to the wolf's strangeness Peter have calmed down. Also, compared to the wild bear and boar, Peter now find the wolf adorable. Because it's merely three feet in height and four feet length, it ended up looking like a puppy next to the two monstrosity.
That's when Peter remembered about his newly-acquired power.
"Dungeon open!" a portal suddenly appeared out of nowhere in front of Peter. This is the first time the dungeon gate leading to his Livelihood Dungeon opened.
The man released one deep sigh.
Peter felt relieved. He escaped certain death on an unknown woodland.
Peter was about to enter his dungeon for the first time when the foot he stepped forward stopped on its track.
The man froze when he heard sobs.
He knew it was the hopeless wolf who lost complete control of its muscles out of terror and was now lying on the sandy soils of that woodland.
He feel guilty at the thought of leaving the wolf to its death.
He turned around to look at the wolf.
"You're doing another stupid thing again, Peter. That dumb mutt wanted to eat you alive but you're going to save it instead! You thought you're a damn hero now? This is the reason why you became a good-for-nothing on Earth! Because you always thought that you are a cool, kind man but in reality you're just a pushover! You're really dumb!" Peter lectured himself.
However, the young man continued to move while he was speaking.
The man was quick but careful when he approached the wolf. That's for fear of disturbing the busily eating giant bear, getting its unsolicited attention and end up as its next meal.
When he successfully got closer to the wolf, while there was a crease in between his eyebrows, Peter poke the whimpering wolf using his fingers.
With that done, the wolf turned noticeably quieter, it also slowly removed its shaking paws that were covering its own eyes. It looked weak.
What appeared before it was the human it intended to eat earlier.
The human's index finger was touching its lips gently while it pointed upwards. The wolf didn't know what those signage meant but it instinctively knew that the human have the intention to help. It perked up its ears and wagged its tail. It focused all of its attention at the man.
The human repeatedly shook its head then it pointed at the back of the wolf.
After several repetitions, Peter's persistence finally paid off. It finally looked at what Peter was pointing at and that's when the poor wolf turned pale at what it saw. It saw the gigantic wild bear that's sloppily eating the boar that it successfully hunted.
The wolf finally understood what Peter was trying to convey. It turned its head to Peter's direction and it hurriedly shook its head in an attempt to tell the human it finally understood his instruction.
Peter motioned for the wolf to follow him. It obediently followed his cue.
The wild wolf stood up and step one foot forward but the still weak animal fell with a thud.
Peter quickly looked at the gigantic wild bear's direction. He swallowed under the pressure. He tensely observed the bear to see if it will make them pay for their mistake.
