新しい友達　(A New friend)

After class finished, I ran down to the place where we planned to meet each other. Sayuri wasn't there yet.

"Oh, I guess she isn't here yet-"

"Heyyyy"

"OH, you scared the crap out of me!"

"Hahaha, do you want to go buy some snacks? Don't worry. It's my treat. Let's go!"

We started walking towards the bread shop. I was following behind Sayuri's back like a newborn chick. It was my first time walking with someone other than my family. I looked up to see Sayuri's face.

Momoe's thought: "She's so much taller than me, and her hair is short and smooth. But I wonder why she always has her hair half up and half down. Well, I can't hate it because I kind of like the bad girl look. Hehe," I giggled.

Soon enough, we arrived at the bread shop with Sayuri.

"Which bread do you want?" Sayuri asked.

"Umm, which do you recommend?

"The Anpan here is good."

"Okay! I'll get that! I'll treat you next time." I assured her.

"Nah, it's fine. You are new here anyway. Oh, here is your bread." She said as she handed me my Anpan.

(Anpan is a round bread with red bean stuffed inside.)

"What bread did you choose, Sayuri?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I got Melon Pan. I like to eat sweet things, how about you?"

"I don't have a preference. I eat what I get." I answered.

"Not the answer I expected, but I'll still take it."

We walked to the nearest bench to have a seat.

"So when is your birthday, Sayuri?" I asked before taking a bite of my Anpan.

"Mmmm! Sayuri was right! The Anpan tastes so delicious!" I screeched with happiness in my head.

"December 5th." She answered.

"2002, right?"

"Yea, wh-"

"Yesss! I'm older than you!" I exclaimed pretty loudly.

"So, how about you? When is your birthday?"

"Mine is September 30th, so haha, I'm older than you!" I teased her.

"It doesn't matter. We are the same age anyway." Sayuri said, looking away with a slight pout on her face.

Then suddenly, The school bell rang. Break time was over before I knew it.

"I'll come over to your class for lunch. I'll bring my lunch there too! Wait for me, ok?" Sayuri asked for my approval.

We started running up the stair to get to class.

"Okay, I'll be there! Don't take too long, or I'll start eating before you!" I answered.

"K, see you!" Sayuri exclaimed before we split to run to our classrooms.
