Chapter 1:
Magic Is Delicious!
My name is Matthew.
I moved to japan about a month ago.
It’s been a hard adjustment with work and not knowing anyone,
well things are pretty lonely.
I work at a software company making the newest hot game:
Super Ninja Samurai Warrior 7.
I was offered a job here making this game but as a transplant for Texas in the US there has been a lot of cultural and language gaps.
I grew up watching anime and learning to code so one day I could leave and have a good job abroad.
Never thought a big studio in Tokyo would reach out to me.
Well after the month here, there was only one person that really talked to me.
Her name is Suyeon, She is originally from Korea, but spent a lot of time in the US so we kinda hit it off.
I asked her to meet with me for drinks and I think I want to get closer to her.
Now I’m leaving work on this gloomy rainy day to meet with her at a local bar. She left before me so I’m meeting her there.
Leaving the building I notice I forgot to charge my phone, also I forgot my umbrella and it’s pouring rain.
Starring out the door of the building out to the street has my dreading the run I am going to have to make.
“It’s really coming down,” I mutter under my breath.
“Forgot your umbrella again?”
I turn around and see my boss starring at me.
“No worries, I don’t’ have far to go, just gonna make a run for it”
“Be safe out there!”
My boss waves at me as I bolt out the door holding my suit jacket over my head.
I begin running towards the bar, I pull out my now dying phone to message Suyeon that I’m on my way.
I am frantically typing when all the sudden I notice I’m falling.
I look up from my phone and see some caution tape and signs surrounding a manhole I just stepping into.
“Shit!”
The last word I got out as I fall down like some cartoon character.
I fall down this deep dark hole.
I am still falling…
still falling…
What time is it where is my phone.
Damn, I should of worn a watch.
Wasn’t there suppose to be water in here.
Seems like I’m falling into the center of the earth.
Wait I see Light!
And, it’s getting closer fast!
Really Fast!
“Oh no!”
Matthew is seemly falling from the sky now, eyes wide open with the wind fast whipping around him he is scared for his life.
“Please be something soft to land on!”
About that time he crash lands in a large sand dune.
After his shocking fall from who knows how far, he is amazed to be alive.
Am I immortal? I am pretty sure at that speed I should have died?
He slowly comes to his feet, brushing sand off his trousers. Looking around sand is all that can be seen.
Whelp, I’m fucked I don’t see any water, food, and this is clearly a desert.
