Chapter 2:
Magic Is Delicious!
Looking around for anything or a sign of a direction to walk.
Just sand as far as he can see.
Well maybe I should choose a direct and walk?
He starts pointing around with his finger moving around in a circle then stops.
“This is as good as any!”
He begins walking in a seemingly random direction.
Time marches on and the sun beating down on him starts taking a toll.
He takes off his tie and throws it on the ground and unbuttons his collar to keep from rubbing his neck raw from the sweat.
How long is this day?
He wipes sweat from his brow in frustration
It’s got to have been hours, and why hasn’t the sun moved a bit?
His pace slows goes from a brisk walk to a tired trudge as time moves on with no sign still of the sun giving way.
After reaching the next sand dune top he sees over it and is still more sand as far as he can see.
Then he falls to his knees, tired not able to push on any further.
“Ok! This is it! This is where I die, right here!”
“I have been walking for what feels like more than a day, and this damn sun doesn’t move!”
“Where is this place?”
“This is the worst, is this hell!”
He kneeling there staring at the sand.
“Suyeon…”
“What she must have thought when I didn’t show up?”
“Did she worry?”
“Is she looking for me?”
“Wait…”
Suddenly, he notices he is sinking into the sand.
Fast.
Now he is waist deep in the sand and he can’t move his legs.
Struggling with all his might he can’t seem to make any progress.
The sand slowly begins to cover his head.
Closing his eyes he prepares for the worst.
Then sand below him breaks away.
He falls into some sort of cave.
Looking up he can see the hole he fell through.
Oh! well it was just a cave covered by the sand.
That’s quite fortunate, now I don’t have to be under that damn sun.
He begins looking around the dimly lit cave for anything he can find.
There is a small puddle in the corner.
Wait, is that water!
He runs over and frantically pick up water with his cupped hands
He drinks it.
Stopping for a second to think.
Wait, what if the water is bad?
Screw it! I’ll probably die if I don’t drink it.
He scoops up water drinking.
Handful.
By handful.
Afterwards he sits down leaning against the cave wall and rests for a brief moment.
That damn sun, if it were not for it beating down on me I could have made it further across this desert.
Well, maybe I’ll sleep here, and then figure out how to get out of this cave.
He lays his head on the ground, and bonks his head on something hard.
Clank!
Ouch!
What was that!
He sits up rubbing his head.
He looks down and sees a faint shimmer.
Huh?
He begins digging the sand away from it.
Slowly.
Carefully.
Then the glow begins getting stronger.
Once uncovered he is stunned by the mesmerizing glow.
Is that what I think it is?
