Chapter 19:

New Beginning

Crossover

The spiky haired male student side kicked the girl’s face with his right foot, and she fell to the floor unconscious as her face turned very red and started to get nosebleed. The student then walked towards the broken window, hopped out of the building, and landed to the ground while he was still standing. He disappeared without a trace after he left through the school gate.

In the present, Ken froze as his eyes widen while he was choked and the teen, who was Karui Makoto, yelped in a loud voice as his tears continuously flowed to his cheeks,

“Finally ring a bell? YOU WERE THE ONE WHO LET TWO INNOCENT STUDENTS TO BE SENT TO THE HOSPITAL!!!” Ken silently bowed down his head as he continued. “After I got discharged out of the hospital and went back to school, I just got the news that my first friend was in a state of coma, and I’ll never see her again! I hope your life will be miserable and it would destroy your sanity little by little and you’ll regret that you were born in this world!”

“I’m sorry”, Ken mumbled under his breath.

“WHAT?!”

“I’m sorry that… I ruined your life… I got you… involved with… my problems… I also have my first friend when… I was in my third year… of middle school but before I knew it... her life disappeared before I… could confess to her... that’s why I hurt couples… whenever I see one... I know it’s too late for… apologies but just… kill me now… Please...”, Ken explained as he continued to choke and closed his eyes tightly.

Makoto sighed as he started to calm down and rage disappeared from his eyes. He then let go of Ken’s neck then he fell to the ground as he continuously coughed and gasped for air with a tear on his left eye while kneeling down with both of his knees.

“Don’t worry about it…” Makoto walked out of that place and Ken was left alone, still kneeling on the ground.

A few minutes later, Ken laughed so hard that he lied down the ground while holding his stomach.

“Whoa, that was priceless! He even believed in that crappy story I just made up. Best first victim ever”, Ken talked to himself as he wiped a tear on his eye.

“I don’t believe you even told that crappy story to get yourself out of the corner”, Euphoria said as she appeared beside him all of a sudden.

Ken explained as he turned towards Euphoria, “I have to. He was my first victim during my first year in high school after all, but still I did apologize ‘cause I never knew that they were just friends. Nah! They would become a couple soon enough anyway.”

Ken looked up at the orange sky while his surroundings is windy.

“The sky right now is pretty.” Euphoria said as she looked up to the sky as well. “What now?”

“Let’s go home. I have a long homework to finish”, Ken said as he slowly stood up.

“Always thought that you never took studying seriously.”

“If I don’t study once in a while, my grades and earnings from that part-time job would be affected and besides, I don’t want to work in that old convenience store forever”, Ken explained as he walked away from the river with Euphoria while he sneezed again.

Euphoria asked, “Bless you. Do you have an allergy or something?”

“I don’t think so”, Ken replied.

“So, what is it then?”

Ken shrugged with a straight face, “Dunno. Don’t care.”

A few days later in the Zero Nana School, Ken casually walked out of the boy’s CR while looking exhausted like he just survived a passing natural disaster as terrible as a tsunami.

“God! I barely answered that pop quiz in science. I hoped I studied earlier yesterday so I have no effort of doing it”, Ken groaned as he saw Sabrina walking in the hallway.

As Sabrina saw Ken, she smirked and stood in front of Ken, “SO, YOU’RE STILL ALIVE.”

Ken casually replied in a straight face with his eyes half open, “And you’re still a big mouth…”

Sabrina complained as she raised her voice, “Shut up! It’s your fault that I have to complain about your condition. You’re the only person who’s crazy enough to leave a hospital after being operated when he had a terrible car accident.”

“It’s a truck, not a car. So, I was right. You studied here too. What section are you from?”, Ken sarcastically said then asked with his arms crossed in front of his chest afterwards.

“I’m at class 2-C. How about you, suicidal maniac?”, Sabrina replied and asked as she eye-rolled and insulted.

Ken forced himself not to laugh by covering his mouth with his right palm and casually countered, “What was that!? Anyway, I never knew you were that dumb."

“Now look who’s talking. You’re even dumber than me since you can’t even cross the road safely. What class are you anyway? So arrogant for someone so stupid!”, Sabrina rebutted as she mocked him.

Ken began to smirk, “Ho, ho. Do you want to know?”

Sabrina complained with a vein throb on her right cheek, “Why am I asking you if I don’t want to know?!”

Ken crossed his arms to his chest and replied confidently, “Well, if you insist. I’m at class 2-A."

Sabrina yelped in surprise as her face began to turn red, “Huh!? The dumb delinquent is at the Elite class!?”

Ken placed his right index finger to his mouth to hush Sabrina and said as he lowered his voice, “Quiet, will ya? You’ll get us scolded. And yeah. I’m at the Elite class because I always get 95 and above in all of my tests. What’s wrong with studying hard? Anyway, I have to get back to class or our science teacher is going to kill me if I'm late.”

Ken quickly ran back to his respective classroom while Sabrina just stood there silently and all alone.

“I can’t believe he’s smarter than me. Even if I always studied all night, I only get 80 to 90 in my tests”, Sabrina said in shock as she deeply sighed and walked back to her classroom.

At the school garden under the Sakura tree, Ken was sitting under the shade while eating his lunch alone. In the distance, Sabrina walked around and spotted Ken by himself. She walked towards Ken, and casually sat down beside him.

Ken asked as he munched on a sushi, “What are you doing here, dumbass?”

Sabrina said as she took out her lunch box and opened it, “Isn’t it obvious? I always eat lunch here, but somebody got my seat taken.”

“Whatever. It’s boring to eat at the classroom alone or at the noisy cafeteria so I MOVED HERE. It’s way more peaceful here. Just eat there silently”, Ken explained as he continued to munch on another sushi.

“How are your injuries? I don’t see you wearing any bandages at all”, Sabrina asked as she took and munched her Onigiri (Japanese for Rice Ball).

Ken replied sarcastically, “Exactly. I don’t have bandages so; it means that I’m healed. Just how dumb are you, anyway?”

“Fine. Sorry for worrying for nothing”, Sabrina said as she continued to eat her lunch silently.

After a few seconds of silence, Ken asked out of the blue, “Do you want to form a group with me?”

Sabrina coughed when she got choked by her food as she drank water from her water bottle and asked, “What was that for? Besides, we’re not even close. why are you asking something friendly? You don’t want to be alone anymore?”

“Huh!? Why would I mope for being alone? I’m alone ever since I was 13 and it was completely intentional. Anyway, someone told me that sooner or later, the world is going to end, and I have the potential to do it apparently, but I don’t get that last part though”, Ken explained elaborately.

Sabrina hypothetically asked, “Let’s say that I’ll join that team and believe in that nonsense, but how can young people like us save the world?”

“Yesterday, I fought against someone with great abilities. He even almost killed me with that power of his. Remember the news about the broken bridge and dried river?”

“Yeah.”

Ken replied in a straight face, “That was his fault.”

Sabrina exclaimed in surprise, “What!? Impossible. No human could ever accomplish such a thing.”

“There was also a time when I punched him, there was a bit of red lightning around my hand, and I thought that there has to be a scientific explanation about it. I also thought that if I can successfully form my group, I could help them have abilities as well so they could also fight. What do you say?”, Ken continued as he reminisced then lend his right hand to Sabrina.

“Whatever you say, smartass. You better help me get an ability, ok? It actually sounds interesting”, Sabrina smiled as he accepted Ken’s hand, and both shake hands in agreement.

“Ok…”, Ken smiled.

Sabrina yelled cheerfully and pointed at Ken’s face with her right index finger, “Ooohh! You just smiled! You do have a soft side after all!”

“I didn’t smile!”, Ken denied instantly.

At the school’s rooftop, there was a teenage boy who watched Ken and Sabrina from above who were chatting under the Sakura tree.
