Chapter 1:
A Curious Encounter
Once upon a time there lived a tribe of curious little nun creatures known as Speaki.
“Joayo, Joayo kutagaleji Joayo!” All the Speaki sang happily in tune while they migrated together through the forest, not sure where they were going, but trusting their instincts would lead them to fresh pumpkins.
“Hobagi?” The leading Speaki with a crown over her head paused, spotting a patch of round rinds in the distance. She leaned forward on the hill to glance more closely… Her eyes did not deceive her! For just ahead, their long journey for hobagi was rewarded. “Sonba koji Jo-”
“Hueeeh!” Due to the queen's abrupt stoppage, a closely following Speaki who wasn’t paying attention bumped into her from behind. “Auuw!”
“Hueeeh!” Cried Queen Speaki as she tumbled down the hill. “Delujibadeyo!”
“Supikip?”
“Supikip?”
“Supikip?”
The many other followers within the tribe uttered as they paused their trek to witness their queen roll down the hill.
“Hueeeh!” Cried the chorus of Speaki at the frightening scene of their rolling royal. “Delujibadeyo!”
“Eeeuh!” Sobbed the queen as she unsuccessfully attempted to stop herself in her tumble. “Etchiminun-de…”
Finally at the base of the hill she collided with a tree, which nearly shook the whole forest. Little did she know as she sulked in her misery, a creature of ancient times had been slumbering on one of the branches and fell on top of her.
“Eeeuh!” Queen Speaki cried as she flattened under the unusual several tons of weight of this creature, who was no bigger than she was. “Etchiminun-de…”
The creature rose up and crawled away on all fours, similar to how Speaki were accustomed to moving on their knees. But she was different. She had no natural clothing, only bearing white fur across her chubby body. Her hair wasn’t bleach blond, instead a bright pink and neatly done with a nice purple bow, despite being wild and not having a mirror. And her eyes were crossed, making it hard to tell where she was looking.
Queen Speaki assumed this creature was hostile, recovering hastily while aggressively teary eyed and shouting “Mateyo!” She raised up her hand and slapped the ground repeatedly, a sign of her willingness to defend her tribe.
The creature was still, her head filled with contemplations of infinity as she discerned the nerves of the leading Speaki. As a sign of good will, she reached behind her into a non-existent pocket and pulled out a pumpkin, which she knew was precious to the Speaki.
“Hobagi?” Queen Speaki ceased her defensive slapping of the soil.
A silent staredown ensued between the two as Queen Speaki discerned whether to trust this creature or not.
“Joaya!” Finally she joyfully concluded the new creature as no threat, and happily accepted the pumpkin, placing it on top of her head in the center of her crown. “Joayo, joayo, hobagi joayo!”
The ancient creature wiped the sweat from her fuzzy brow, thankful to have avoided a conflict with a potential friend, of which the forest was not plentiful of.
“Ah!”
“Ah!”
“Ah!”
Just then, the tribe of Speaki followed in their leader's footsteps and rolled down the hill after her.
“Hueeeh! Delujibadeyo!” A Speaki announced so the queen and creature would clear room for their personal tumble. “Ah!”
*SLAM! CRASH! BAM!*
The many Speaki clashed with the tree, piling up on top of each other as they failed to stop their miserable feat of acrobatics.
“Hah?”
“Hah?”
“Hah?”
Uttered all the Speaki as they saw the ancient creature before them. Nobody knew her name, so the queen found it proper to find out what it was for herself.
“Supikip?” A thought bubble appeared above Queen Speaki. Within it, a nametag that read ‘Hi, My name is_____.’
The ancient creature reached into the thought bubble and pulled out the nametag, using a deep purple sharpie, which might as well been black, to write in the name DORO.
“Auuuh!” Queen Speaki joyfully sang as she shared a peace sign. “Joayo, Joayo! Sumbakochi Joayo!”
“Joayo, Joayo! kutagaleji Joayo!”
The Speaki’s sang and danced, encouraging their new friend Doro to join in on the merry making. What fun they had!
But little did they know, calamity was on the horizon. A flock of birds had flown in from above, hungry crows searching for pumpkins to snatch up.
The tribal army of Speaki was at the mercy of the crows, unable to fight given their small stature and lack of wings. But Doro in her infinite generosity summoned a pipe bomb, which she tossed to the 2D crow gifs assaulting the vegetables. Actually, pumpkins are fruits.
“Hueeeh!” cried all the Speaki as they saw the grenade be lobbed, frightened it would ruin the pumpkins.
*KABOOM!*
The pipebomb exploded into a scarecrow, because Doro knew this story had to remain safe for all ages, despite her desire for chaos. Oh, and she didn’t want to blow up the pumpkins either!
The scarecrow frightened the crows and forced them to flee, leaving behind only their loose feathers, which blew away in the wind.
“Hueee!” Queen Speaki cried at the loud noise, but turned to see the ravenous birds had been driven away. “Supikip?”
“Supikip?”
“Supikip?”
“Auuuh!” The queen declared the pumpkin patch was saved, grateful to her new friend Doro for her aid.
From then on, Doro was knighted by Queen Speaki, officially making her the official defender of the Speaki. As a visible sign of her position, Doro donned her favourite suit of armour.
“Ah?!” Suddenly the pumpkin on Queen Speaki’s head began to shake, increasing in size by the second. A crack formed on the surface of the rind, like an egg ready to hatch…
*POP!*
The pumpkin fell apart and revealed a baby Speaki was born! This one had a crown on her head, making her a little princess of the tribe.
“Hueee!” little princess speaki cried, as newborns naturally would. “Hueee! Hueee! Hueee!”
“Joaya!” Gleefully sang Queen Speaki to her baby as she rocked her back and forth. “Joayo, Joayo kutagaleji Joayo!”
