Chapter 5:

V1 | N3 - A Chance Encounter

Re:Wraith

This time tomorrow I'll be four years old since arriving in this world. How do I know? Well, it just so happens that the humans here celebrate birthday's yearly as we do back home. The first time when it all happened, I wasn't quite what was going on at the time, but on my second and third birthday, I had a pretty good idea what the celebrations were all about at least I presume that what they were about.

When I first reincarnated I'm not going to lie I wasn't sure how I should keep on living from here on out. You see in my old life my family were rich so I took things for granted especially when you're being taken care of by the servants that worked at our house. It just so happens as well that I was reborn into nobility when I ended up reincarnating.

The tell-tale signs were of course the furnishings, the decorative designs and the intricately and elaborate engravings of gemstone and rare materials within ornaments that were scattered around the mansion. The exquisite paintings that rivalled or flat out beat the national treasures of art itself in our world.

Having my very own room full of luxury was, to be honest, rather surprising. Don't get me wrong in my old life I had similar quirks within my family, but here in this room I was surrounded by what some might say is a little girl's ideal fantasy life. Which admittedly for me was the perfect scenario seeing that I am now a little girl in this world.

Neatly packed on the shelves in my room were various books all of them fairytales based on various legends and myths within this world. It was only then when I got my first look at the writing that I realized it wasn't too different from Japanese kanji. The only stark difference was the more flamboyant stylization of the writing symbols in this world.

There were shelves packed with toys from stuffed dolls to toy sets of things that were alien to me. Many of the latter were contraption based, but no matter what I did nothing happened so after a while I gave up on using them, to be honest, the toy sets themselves seem to need a sort of device that powers them. And I had no idea what or how to get something like that if I needed to.

I spent most of my time reading the books that I had in my room mostly to teach myself how to read this worlds language. Although it seemed similar to my own, at least, in terms of writing whenever I tried to read it to anyone they would give me a confused look for a moment before correcting my phonology or just awkwardly seeing me off.

At that point, I came to the conclusion that the pronunciation of words was completely different which meant that I had to completely learn a new language from scratch. Which I had been trying to do for the last few days to no avail.

"Buev-v..." I sighed in defeat.

I've been at this for days now and still, I can't figure out a single word any of these books say! I say them how I perceive to read them, but clearly, it's wrong. It seems strange and unusual, but I guess I'll have to put aside the Japanese language if I'm going to get anywhere with this.

I fall back against the soft carpet laid across the middle of my room. My red and white dress of fine craftmanship was crumpled and I just knew that my mother would have a go at me about it later. But, to be honest, that was the least of my worries.

Seeing the flashing diamond symbol in the bottom left of my vision I concentrate on it and the familiar chime of the user interface appears in my vision outlining the main menu system.

[Character Profile]

[Skill Tree]

[Traits Tree]

[Inventory]

[System Settings]

There were a few other options that were still blurred out even after all these years so I figured that I had to meet some sort of requirement, however, I thought it was best to not think too much about it at the moment.

As for the system settings, every time I tried to access the option it came up with an access denied notification I thought I would try again and see if it would let me access it this time around.

[Access Denied...]

Well, I guess someone doesn't want me using this. Which also begs the question, who is stopping me from using the system settings? I pushed the thought aside for the time being it wasn't like I had anything to work off to bring the mystery to a close anyway.

I continue to lay upon the floor with my menu still open within my visual thinking to myself. I decided to access my Traits Tree and doing so it listed a few traits that I had unseemingly acquired over the last few years that I have lived in this world.

[Magical Affinity: Water]

[Magical Affinity: Light]

[Language Affinity: Erellian]

When I first obtained these traits it surprised me most in part to the fact that I got a random pop-up window notifying me at the most unsuspecting times. But what was even more surprising to me was how in fact I obtained them it wasn't like I did anything special to get these traits anyway.

From memory, I couldn't fathom how so my instinctive thought was that these traits carried over through bloodlines similar to how families would have specific gene traits unique to them.

Does it mean that in this world I had ancestor's that used water and light magic or was I simply lucky to obtain these specific traits? For now, I'll leave it be, after all, I don't really have any that I can work with to figure all this out anyway and doing so is making me tired anyway.

"Velrisia!"

I could hear Frea calling my name she was one of the many maids that worked within the mansion of the Uo Flourante family. I couldn't speak their language even though I had an affinity for it so instead, I used expressions and body language to convey what I wanted to say and believe me it's a pain the ass.

The door to my room had been left slightly ajar I heft the door open slightly and I could Frea down the end of the corridor looking for me. She wore the typical maid outfit that I had grown accustomed to seeing in manga albeit a more modest approach thankfully I wasn't a big fan of the sexy maid trope anyway.

When I tried pushing the door open it tired me out so when I ran towards her I was almost out of breath. I noticed shortly after being born and I was able to crawl along with my hands and knees I had the misfortune of having a weak body so a lot of physically demanded activities were pretty much out the question for me which annoyed me a lot.

Being tiny like I am when I bumped into Frea's legs I grabbed a hold of her dress tightly I tried my most damn to hold myself up not wanted to fall over and tear Frea's skirt just because I was tired. Frea looked downward at me giving me a sweet and gentle smile, she then kneeled down as far as she could picking me up in her arms.

I had to admit I was somewhat envious of her dark purple hair, obviously, it wasn't something that I had seen in my old life. So seeing Frea with that hair colour was to put it shortly mesmerizing in and of itself.

Her hair is tied in a simple ponytail and her glasses just added to that simple yet beautiful look of hers giving her that aura of cuteness which I know a lot of the boys in my class would have lost their minds over such things.

"Wuox nuesm tuonm muey suop"

To be honest, I honestly wished I knew what everyone was saying. Like I mentioned before I had to rely on portraying my feelings through body language and expression or simply just going along with whatever was happening at the time. Admittedly, the latter didn't happen too often, but when it did it was honestly mentally distressing for me as I hadn't a clue what to expect.

As usual, I just nodded or shook my head whenever Frea or anyone in the mansion tried to converse with me and hope that I didn't end up worse off for it. She carried me through what seemed like an endless maze of highly decorated corridors lined with various paintings and sculptures.

I know I just said that it felt like an endless maze, but to be honest, the corridors and the size of the house itself didn't seem too much larger than my home back in Japan. It was the unusually accurately crafted wall coverings that had the same patterned design that gave an almost hypnotic effect giving that endless illusion.

It wasn't long before Frea took me into a room with me still in her arms. As the two of us entered I see my father, Velirian Uo Flourante and my mother, Resia Uo Flourante. Back when I first saw their forenames for the very first time I put two and two together and figured that they both combined their names which lead to me being called Velrisia.

My parents were wearing the typical clothing you would expect nobility to be sporting a finely trimmed and pristine to a tee combination of luxury garments. Sitting across from them was a couple within similar standing like my family judging by their attire.

[Belr Ru Norin] appeared over the man.

As for the woman, [Helina Ru Norin]

I probably should have mentioned this before, but shortly after reincarnating my user interface would immediately identify and notify me of a person's name. At the end of the day, that's how I came to find my parents and maid's name. And to be honest, I was sort of disappointed that nothing else was set to automatic to make my life easier until I figured it all out later down the line. My train of thought was interrupted when I spotted something unusual in the distance.

At the other end of the sofa where the Ru Norin family members sat, I could see what looked like a little patch of hair almost like it was growing off the furniture itself. It was black like the night sky, in fact, it was very similar to that Belr Ru Norin's hair colour.

A few seconds later, a boy emerged from behind the sofa he was clearly around my age maybe one or two years older.

[Rine Ru Norin (Youta Genji)]

At first, I didn't think much of it when it suddenly hit me.

W-Wait, Youta Genji? That's a Japanese name is he another one of those reincarnations?

Just looking at the boy's face and seeing his expression a mixture of shock and surprise just moments later. At that point, it was pretty obvious to me that he too just found out about me being a reincarnation.
