Chapter 25:
Unforgivable Vengeance
The sun casting above the barren woods after the wildfire subside from late night, leaving the snap tree behind. The wilderness before disaster was normal, from the scent of wild and freedom, but now replaced in burned plot and cruelty, Triceratops and couple of Brachiosaurus approach the last remain survived tree, the rest was now covered in ash as the smoke drifted through the snag trees, other animals emerged from their hiding spot, injured but survive from the hunter's attack.
I emerged from our damaged shelter, alongside with my survived brother let a low whimper, wrapped in bandages that I've found from the hunter's health kit, abandoned on the pathway as they escaped. I approach the last tree, my ears flattened, lowered my gaze.
"This is my fault…" I mumbled under my breath, blamed myself, placing my hand on my chest beneath my heart, my fingers curling against the fabric of my coat, my long hair fluttering behind on my back, fluttering from the wind.
"I've supposed to fight, not being stupid." tears flowing silently on my eyes, squeezing my eyes shut, despite my heart ache from the lost of my love ones from the ambush. "This is my fault, I've supposed to help my family… but I failed… I failed to become a queen."
I collapse on my knees, slamming my fist on earth, crying, feeling hopeless despite everyone chose me to become a queen, but I was still vulnerable to fight back. My survived brother wrapped in bandages nuzzle it's small snout on my side, I let a sharp gasp, not from shock—
in disbelief.
I sobbed harder, wrapping my arms around his injured body, not to tight, pressing my face on his neck, inhaling the last scent of our family.
"I'm here… I'm here… shh…" I cooed softly through his scales, trying to chase his fears away. "Big sis's here…" the little Rex whimpered, almost he's crying because he missed his momma, pressing his snout on my chest making my heart ache.
"I know, I know you miss her, she's now living in peace, with your siblings, and your father. We're both left behind." I gave a gentle pat on his back, the survived animals watch in the distance, giving us a silent respect. Except the sound of rumbling engine reverted through the barren woods. My gaze darkened, stood up in stance pose, cape and hair fluttering behind me, my tail lay still on the ground, placing myself between my survived brother and the upcoming ambushed.
"They back!?"
I clenched my fist on my side, gritting my teeth furiously, exposing the razor sharp tooth reflect in harsh sun light as the sound drawing nearer and nearer.
"You gonna be kidding me." I spat, my gaze still furious aftermath.
~~~
Inside the hunter's vehicle, a man sat on the driver's seat, beside him another man no older than his fifties, combing his mustache, staring at rearview mirror, his gaze was furious, holding a walkie-talkie on his left hand.
~~~
"Kyou Naoryuu!!! You've better to surrender before I take your damn territory by my own!"
My ears perked up at mention my name. Really?! He came back for me?! I shook away, attempt to forget it from now on, focusing on present, still on my stance.
My little brother cried, biting my coat, desperately to drag me away from the intruder. I shift my attention, glancing over my shoulder, my gaze softened, I turned around, kneeled at front of him, pressing my forehead against his snout, mumbling.
"Run." I said simply, my little brother chirped in concern, almost he's not going to leave my side, just as before I could turn around—a dart landed on the side of my neck.
"Gah—!" I let a sharp gasp, my hand flew towards the strange object, the needle pressed deeper against my skin, I plucked it away and threw from afar. My vision began to blur as my legs began to wobble and collapse on my knees, my little brother wail, he froze as the armored vehicle halted at front of us, causing the living things fled for their own life, birds flew to flight as the vehicle door slammed open— armored figures stepping out from the vehicle.
I let a low-pitched moan, despite my vision hazy I saw two figurines rushed towards my weakened form, my survived brother wailing at the distance, the figure approach him but he let out a low-pitched snarl to defend himself and retreat from the thicket, I crawled, my hand reaching out to someone—my survived brother watch helplessly in the distance let a whimper.
"Run!" I barked. "I said Run!" I said repeatedly, my survived brother let a low whimper before return in the thicket. I cried helplessly as I felt myself, slowly dragged away, slowly loosing consciousness, hearing a muffled voice one last time before I dragged away, unconscious.
"We've found her!"
"Look, General! We caught your daughter!"
~~~
I found myself in unfamiliar room, I sat on the chair, bounded in reinforcement chain, steel muzzle was forced over my mouth despite I wasn't a wild wolf, electrodes attached on the side of my head, I let a weak groan escape from my lips, spiked collar wrapped around my neck.
As my vision began to sharpened, I didn't realized—I've found myself in metallic room. The hunters laughed, and took a picture with their phone.
"Can you believe it? We've found the hybrid girl from years!"
"Yeah! The travellers said to us she's freaking REAL! But She's the last kind."
I let a weak bark, squirming helplessly in chains, watching them left in the room with a mocking laughs reverted through the chamber. I was no longer feel the smell of wild and freedom, but I ended up caught, to exposed at front of crowded citizens to take my life for execution.
This is definitely a death penalty for me. I thought to myself, squirming helplessly, but it's still hopeless, I just harden myself even further, my eyes sealed shut, but until a electric shock surged through my veins, forcing me to wail.
"AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!"
I trashed violently, feeling my muscles straining. This is very cruel! Let me go! Suddenly, my vision began to grew hazy. I'm not a subject! Let me go! I let a muffled, agonized cry in the steel muzzle, image from my childhood days replaying on my mind, a full of happiness in the wilderness, my mother defend me from the wind python, playing my siblings, I've encountered the king Rex, every image swirled together into as one.
~~~
As the torture ended, my gaze lowered, my breath shuddering, chest rising and falling in each breath I've made, the hunters laughed and left in room, they said I have no fun at all.
For the first time in my life; I felt helpless, almost I wanted to give up, but the memory of my little brother's cry, made my heart stirred, but still weak to fight back, I drifted back into unconsciousness; lost, wounded, but refused to give up so easily.
~~~
The claustrophobic chamber was silent, very quiet, I sat on the electric chair, which is now deactivate after the attempt execution, trembling, but refused to surrender. My body was chained in my chest to ankle, the light above buzzed coldly. Still unconscious, waiting for someone to rescue me.
Until my ears perked up at the sound, almost small, too light to be a human. When I flutter my eyes open, I saw a faint silhouette from the darkness, not massive, but small size of the Velociraptor; a pair of juvenile T-Rex eyes peeked out, I've realized—my brother, the last survivor, the youngest I've risked my own life to protect him, he tracked my scent from the wilderness into these weird claustrophobic chamber. He came to save me.
He let a low-pitched chirp, his reptilian gaze darting around through the bars if there's hunters guarding the hallway, but nothing. Without a warning, he squeezed himself from the bars, and successfully stepped himself inside, I watched him silently as he rushed towards my side, starting to bite the electrodes from the side of my head, back, arms and tail while the machine was deactivated.
~~~
Despite everything he have done, I'm still chained, squirming helplessly, gritting my teeth in frustration, my reptilian feet stretch, making my claws scrapping on the metallic floor.
This isn't end… I hope we've break free from this oddly chamber.
~~~
Still trapped, bounded in chains, my brother rex nibbling the metal with his sharp teeth, desperately to let his sister free, but still hopeless. I let a deep breath in frustration.
"We cannot get out of here." I mumbled, almost surrender, lower my gaze, feeling hopeless, but until my mind sparked, what if I used my Tyrannosaurus form, I can break free from the chains.
I took a long deep breath, mumbling under my breath, to awakened my form.
My brother watched silently, tilting his head in curiosity, watching his sister's form began to illuminate.
My bones reshaped, my skin shivered and shifting as I grew larger and larger to transformed on my bizarre form. Small arms, chains rattling as I moved, thorn horns glinted in the red light, my tail with a sharp tip swaying.
I rose to my feet, towering, shaking, free— but still weak from nearly execution, the moment I stepped myself out from my cell, I lowered my massive snout to him. My little brother nuzzle his snout lovingly, the moment we're just a siblings.
The footsteps reverted around the hallway, hunters and guards rushing towards us, as the sirens flared, I shift my attention back towards the hunters, alongside with guards, I stepped myself between my brother and them, blocking with my massive body, my Q-shaped pupils gleamed, with my brother on my side, I let a deep guttural roar.
"RRRROOOOAAAAAWWWRRR!!!!"
The hunters and guards froze, their eyes wide in terror as I turned away to escape, alongside with my brother, we both ran out from our freedom. Weaklings, must be not surrender.
~~~
We've successfully escaped, but my form began to melt, transformed back on my human form, I collapse on my knees, my little brother whimpered, worried about his older sister weak. My ears perked up at the sound of wild and human, holding their staff.
"Oh my goodness, childrens! Are you okay!?" the voice was ancient and something wild, my brother let a low-pitched snarl, stepping himself between my weakened form and the intruder. I looked up at the elder woman, but I'm still vulnerable to fight back…
