Chapter 8:
Now, let me conquer this world!
I sit heavily on a hard, splintering wooden barrel, resting my chin on my hands, feeling incredibly bored and deeply frustrated by the profound lack of violence. My vibrant pink hair falls lazily over my eyes as I watch my completely useless, dysfunctional team having the absolute time of their lives in this supposed war zone. Ishida is currently surrounded by a massive, fawning group of beautiful and endlessly giggling village women.
"Oh, brave hero, your muscles are so firm", one lady giggles softly, her cheeks flushed with admiration.
"There is plenty of my greatness to go around, my beautiful ladies", Ishida laughs his usual, incredibly perverted laugh.
Nearby, Meiyi is happily rolling around in a deep, filthy muddy puddle right next to the noisy animal pens.
"Please, throw more dirt on me", Meiyi begs the highly confused village children. "I am just a filthy magician who deserves absolutely no respect".
Amiya is shamelessly flexing her large, imposing muscles and enthusiastically offering the startled villagers shiny gold coins to punch her directly in the stomach. Meanwhile, Diana is hiding safely high up in the branches of a tall oak tree, carefully petting a harmless little bird while anxiously scanning the ground below for any signs of evil, stray cats.
I am completely bored and heavily impatient with this disgustingly peaceful situation. I get incredibly tempted to just blow something up with my magic to relieve my rapidly growing, explosive stress.
"Listen up, everyone", I shout loudly, abruptly jumping off my wooden barrel and startling the nearby livestock. "If the enemies are not coming to us, we are going to them!"
Ishida blinks in genuine surprise and gently, almost reluctantly, pushes two clinging village women aside.
"Are we really going to invade the goblin hive?" Ishida asks, his heroic facade faltering for a split second.
"Yes", I declare with a dark, genuinely evil smirk. "We are going to completely crush them and take absolutely all their valuable resources".
I look directly at the Village Elder, who is nervously stroking his long, flowing white beard with trembling fingers. The Elder and the surrounding villagers eventually agree to follow my aggressive plan, although they are clearly terrified and deeply lack any real confidence in our impending assault.
"We will do our best to assist you, great heroes", the Elder says, his frail knees shaking slightly beneath his robes.
The highly unusual team and the brave, yet reluctant, villagers walk together toward the dangerous, notorious goblin hive hidden deep inside the uncharted jungle. We march tirelessly for several exhausting hours, hacking our way through the thick, twisting vines and brushing past enormous, dew-covered green leaves. As we finally get closer to the designated enemy territory, I hold up a hand to stop the marching group and raise my arms into the air.
"Stand back, everyone", I announce confidently, my voice echoing through the dense foliage. "It is time for my special, highly advanced tactical spell".
I close my eyes in deep concentration and carefully channel my unique, volatile dimensional energy. A bright, blindingly blue magic circle suddenly appears right on the damp jungle floor, violently glowing with intense, otherworldly power. Heavy metal clanking sounds loudly echo through the previously quiet trees, tearing through the natural serenity. I successfully summon a massive, towering pile of advanced modern weapons, including sleek black assault rifles, crates of explosive grenades, and a giant, military-green bazooka.
"What in the world is that?" the Elder gasps in pure, unfiltered shock.
"This is exactly how we conquer", I smile brightly, effortlessly lifting the incredibly heavy bazooka onto my small, petite shoulder.
Everyone is completely shocked and simply stares at the gleaming metallic weapons with wide, terrified eyes. Emboldened by our new arsenal, we continue walking, feeling incredibly powerful and entirely ready for a brutal, incredibly bloody war.
However, as we aggressively step out of the thick, tangled jungle bushes, we freeze completely in absolute, mind-numbing disbelief. Right where we expect to find a filthy, primitive goblin hive, we instead see the actual, sprawling kingdom of the goblins. It is completely modern and incredibly, undeniably civilized. Tall, majestic skyscrapers made of gleaming glass and polished steel reach high into the clear blue sky. Smooth, perfectly paved asphalt roads seamlessly connect beautiful, lush green parks, and clean, silent magical vehicles drive peacefully down the completely spotless streets.
"What is this?" I drop my jaw, my heavy bazooka dipping slightly as I stand completely confused by the breathtakingly beautiful city.
"I thought they are savage monsters living in dirty mud huts", Ishida stammers weakly, his edgy, dark hero persona completely shattered by the sight of immaculate urban planning.
We slowly, hesitantly walk into the goblin place, tightly holding our modern weapons and nervously waiting for a sudden, violent ambush from the pristine alleyways. Instead of aggressively attacking us, a small group of goblins wearing exceptionally neat, tailor-made business suits walks politely toward our heavily armed party.
"Welcome, esteemed human guests", the lead goblin greets us with a warm, incredibly friendly smile.
"We are so happy you decided to visit our humble city", another well-dressed goblin adds cheerfully, reaching out and casually handing Ishida a highly colorful, professionally printed welcome brochure.
Ishida and the entire supposedly heroic team are getting infinitely more confused by the passing second.
"Are we not going to fight?" Amiya asks, looking very visibly disappointed that no one is attempting to hit her.
I slowly, defeatedly lower my giant bazooka, staring blankly at a nearby goblin who is peacefully sitting on a park bench, leisurely sipping an iced coffee and casually reading a daily financial newspaper. Conquering this strange, highly advanced world is definitely not going according to my grand, villainous plan.
