Chapter 1:

ONE: INTRODUCTIONS

The Boy With A Monster In His Head

DISCLAIMER: SELF-HARM AND MURDER ARE IN THIS SERIES.

The boy woke up that morning, the same as every other morning.

Tiring

Sad

Boring

And worst of all.

Guilt shredding.

The boy’s name was Kit, alone in his apartment, 15 years into life and still nothing has been truly accomplished.

Can you skip to the part where you kill people, this part is boring” The monster said.

Kit ignored him, just like he did every other day.

“You talk too much.” Kit's voice came, deep, and tired.

But worst of all his voice had less emotion than a robot, or than the AI’s that people believe will take over our world.

The boy’s clothes were darker than his past.

The elevator’s mirrors avoided his eyes, like it had learnt better.

Passing men and women that looked at him as if he had threatened their children.

He arrives at the gate of his school. The gate stood bigger than Kit’s hopes.

“You're boring.”  The monster narrated to Kit as if this was his story.

Kit had to pay rent one way, as he is alone, and may be forever.

After roll call Kit goes to class. He sits down, still as ever.

Through periods Kit focuses on the chatter of the students. It would be about anything, parties, romance, shows and even the news.

Class goes and then the whole day goes by, Kit walks to the rooftop where people end their lives. The roof of the school.

You gonna jump?”  The monster asked.

The monster laughed.

Kit looked over the skyline.

But even the darkest streets that you would find in the monsters heart wouldn’t compare to the darkness of this stories past.

Kit looks at his phone, “I better get to the Times.”

The Hourly Times, a news agency Kit works at and takes pictures of.

He goes down the stairs of the school. The place was dim, darkness filled the hallways. The smell of cigarettes wrecked in the hallways that the students left behind.

On his way on the walk to the Times, it started to snow.

Kids pointed to the sky telling their parents how they loved the weather.

“What, you're jealous you never got that moment?” The monster whispered to Kit’s ear, clearly trying to anger the boy. The monster laughed, worse than an old man at his silly jokes.

Kit stared at the list of things he was supposed to picture. Randomized things like it was picked out of a hat.

Coffee shops, parks, bridges, tall buildings and farms.

“I don’t understand why your boss wants this stuff, it's all a bunch of random stuff.” The monster said.

Kit shrugged, like always, as he wasn’t bothered with what the monster said.

Click.

Click.

Heard the camera.

He stood up, and noticed that a teenager was watching the kids. Too young to be a parent. Too focused to be a brother.

“Kill him.” The monster whispered.

Kit was walking towards him, sat next to him, and immediately recognised him. It was a boy that went to Kit’s school.

Kit was wishing the teen had a name tag on his shirt.

“What are you doing here?” The suspicious teen asked.

Kit replied. “Nothing much.”

“Stop following me.” The teen ordered, in a threatening voice.

Kit didn’t reply.

Kit noticed how the smell of the teen reeked of cigarettes and alcohol.

It meant he was partying and doing these things underage or he was in a household full of junkies.

“Do I know you?” Kit asked.

The teen rose from his seat.

The teen shouted a slur at Kit.

The teen stormed off.

Something held onto Kit’s bag.

Kit’s face still was frozen, stone cold.

The monster laughed louder than ever.

“He tagged my bag. A tracker for some reason.” Kit told the monster.

Kit went to a store, bought a bag.

Kit’s old bag now lies in the trash in an alleyway.

He continued walking, but now somebody knew where he was.
