Chapter 2:

TWO: Aya Kurose

The Boy With A Monster In His Head

DISCLAIMER: SELF-HARM AND MURDER ARE IN THIS SERIES.

Kit was walking to his apartment.

It was dark, the streets empty like the hearts of the people Kit killed.

“Why did that guy tag your bag?” The monster asked.

Kit didn’t respond.

He pointed to his ear to signal.

“Someone may be listening.” Was what the signal meant.

Kit entered the apartment building. He said hello to the apartment receptionist and walked towards the elevator.

The elevator was quiet, the loudest noise was the breathing of the monster. Kit arrived at the 13th floor, where he stayed.

He entered his apartment, locked it, took his shoes off, and put his new backpack down on a chair on the dining table.

The monster laughed, raspy, deep, a laugh that would be used in a horror movie.

“Someone is in your room.”

Kit noticed there were shoes at the front door that didn’t belong to Kit.

Kit froze as the monster uttered those words.

Eyes widening, mouth goes dry, breathing gets quiet.

Kit was focused on hearing the person in the apartment.

He walked slowly towards his room. His steps were silent but he could see someone.

A girl in a dark turtleneck trench coat. Her hair went down below her waist.

Kit scanned her, he couldn’t see a weapon in sight.

He revealed himself.

“Who are you?” Kit asked.

She froze. “Former vigilante turned photographer. I’ve never met a teenager who is responsible for over a 10 dozen murders. Did I miss a detail about you?” Her voice was cold.

She put her hands up like Kit was a cop who found her stealing something.

Kit froze. She knows his secret. He thought he kept it hidden well.

But he knows he can’t kill her, not here, and she is obviously too smart to just come here to a killer’s apartment.

“And before the thought enters your mind. I told my parents that I was coming to my friend’s apartment to do a school project. They know your exact address. Which means if I die here then you’ll spend your life rotting in a cell.” The girl knew she had bested Kit right now. She predicted every single move of Kit.

The monster laughed.

For the first time ever somebody has beat Kit in a game of minds!

Kit slowly walks closer to her. He was about a metre from her.

“Then tell me, what do you want?” Kit asked.

She began tapping her chin with her finger.

“I don’t really want anything from you. I just think you’re interesting. Oh and I just got a job at The Hourly Times with you, so we will be working together.”

The monster laughed loudly when the girl said that.

“Seems like my time with you will be much more entertaining to watch!” The monster was laughing in Kit’s agony.

“I should get going. My mother will likely call me soon.” The girl told Kit.

She began to walk towards the door, putting her shoes on, prepared to leave.

“I’ll come down with you cause the elevator only works with the apartment keycard.” Kit told her, still wondering how she got into the apartment.

“I think it would be good to tell you I am Aya Kurose.” She tells him.

“Kit Odoka.” Kit tells her.

Kit guides her to the exit. They exchange phone numbers then part ways.

As Kit goes back to his apartment, he feels worried.

6 months of no killing then a girl his age finds out that he is a vigilante.

Was his ego the reason he got caught?

Will he be caught by the police one day?

Will he be sentenced to prison or be given capital punishment for his crimes?

Is it even possible to bury your crimes?

His mind scatters through these thoughts as he puts his head on his pillow.

For the first time ever Kit has been shown as beatable.

He knows that his killings are still known to the world.

Word of a mass murderer was going around a couple months ago.

On social media people still sometimes mention the situation.

Forums online of people discussing who they believe the vigilante was.

There are also forums of people talking about what happened to him.

But Kit hopes everyone believes that the vigilante is dead.

But for now Kit will rest while the innocent families of the victims have to suffer.

Kit never considered them victims though.

He never saw the ones he killed as victims. He considered the ones that were family to the killed as victims.

But for years to come the vigilante will be spoken about.

The person who killed over 200 criminals lies in a bed, waiting for his sad, miserable life to end.

Because Kit Odoka is the person who is responsible for one of the biggest mass murders in all of mankind.
