Chapter 28:

Epilogue

FRIEND ♡ LOVE ♡ STEAL: All I’m Trying To Do Is Spend Time With My Best Friend, But For Some Reason His Heroines Keep Falling For Me! - Volume 1

An outlier even among outliers.

Long black hair, tied with a thin red ribbon on each side.

Sharp crimson eyes filled with confidence.

And a full figure—flawless, like virtually everything else about her.

Even the heart emblem stitched onto her blazer is different from ours.

Solid gold, with a synthetic ruby gemstone embedded at its center.

An insignia reserved for only one student at Saishin Academy.

Amamiya Akane (天宮 茜)

Top student in the country.

President of the student council.

Our indomitable leader.

She steps into the room, her commanding voice instantly seizing everyone’s attention.

“Attention, members of the student council!

First, I’d like to thank you all for coming in so early. I hope everyone had a rejuvenating Golden Week.”

You bet I did.

Words can’t even begin to describe how badly I needed that break—or how much it revitalized me.

I don’t care how early in the morning it is.

Right now?

I feel ready to take on the world.

“Second, I would like to thank you for all the groundwork you laid during the first month of school.

I know things weren’t always easy—”

I glance over at Shinomiya, raising an eyebrow.

She blushes.

Readjusting her hair, she briefly looks away—

Before glancing back at me with a playful smile and wink.

“—but the time and effort you dedicated here were crucial in preparing us for the rest of the school year.

Not just for maintaining Saishin’s status as the nation’s premier academy—

But for finally implementing the kind of meaningful, transformative changes that can help elevate this school to an entirely new level.”

“Third, you’ll find a set of documents on your desk containing your assignments for this month. If you have any questions, please come speak with me directly.”

I glance down at my stack.

…Why is mine so much thicker than everyone else’s?

But no matter!

With how things have been going lately, nothing can put a damper on my mood!

I glance around the room at my friends—

Haruki, Yuka, and Shinomiya…

and maybe even Ichino—

all flash me reassuring smiles.

Sure, the student council’s going to continue to keep me busy.

And yes, I still haven’t managed to sit Haruki down for that heart-to-heart conversation I’ve been wanting.

But my relationships are finally back on solid ground.

Haruki’s harem has mellowed out a bit.

As have the three stragglers.

Even my workload feels manageable again.

For the first time since starting at Saishin…

I feel like I’m finally getting into the groove of things.

Plus…

I’m almost ready to finally set my next plan to talk with Haruki into motion.

At this point, I can’t imagine what could possibly go wr—

“Finally, as you all know, the day before Golden Week vacation, I was re-elected as class president alongside a new vice president.

I would like you all to meet…

My adorable little sister!”

The president’s voice suddenly pitches upward, her entire manner of speech shifting in a way I’ve never seen before.

She gazes toward the entrance with boundless affection.

Absolutely smitten.

In walks a stunning beauty.

Not unlike the president in appearance—

But with silver hair, ribbons the same icy blue as her calm eyes, a slimmer figure, and a soft, expressionless face.

She gives off an elegant yet mysterious air.

“Ubakawa.”

“Y-Yes, president?”

“You’ll be helping our new vice president acclimate over the coming weeks, I trust I can rely on you?”

I give her a thumbs up.

“You can count on me!”

“Good.

I humbly ask that you treat my darling little sister with the utmost care…”

A crushing pressure suddenly bears down on me.

“...I trust I need not explain what would happen should you fail her in any way.”

“N-N-No, president!”

She flashes me a terrifying smile.

“Excellent.”

And just as suddenly—

Her tone shifts again.

“Now, go on! Tell them all about yourself! How truly amazing you are!

Our new vice president calmly steps to the front of the room.

She turns toward her sister.

“Understood.”

Her voice is gentle—

Yet faintly eerie.

She then turns back toward us.

We all sit on the edge of our seats, desperate to learn what the sister of someone so overwhelmingly larger than life—

What this mysterious girl—

Is truly like.

“Greetings.

I will be assuming the role of vice president effective immediately.”

Silence falls over the room.

For the first time since entering—

She hesitates.

Then—

“You may refer to me as…”
