Understanding

I couldn’t help myself, but smile. He seemed surprised at first, but he smiled too. He really did help me. I’m so glad.

The fluid from eyes stopped going. My sight is still blurred, but I start to notice more details in his appearance. I wonder why it happens now. Probably I was too much focused on dealing with my hunger that nothing else mattered to me.

I had a quick look earlier on gathered people and he looks different from them. He has no hair on his face. He doesn’t seem to be much muscular as others. I think even his hair is longer than theirs. And something weird is hanging from his ears. Hmm...

I don’t know why now I recalled the moment he was angry.

If you want to destroy something, destroy something else elsewhere!

It wasn’t that much long ago and now... I didn’t feel any anger from him when he spoke to me after that.

„Mr Ouranos!”

He reacted to that. Is that his name? I think that was the word for that.

„Can you wait for me here? I will be back in a moment.”

„Yes.”

„Thank you.”

And he went.

Hmm... I still wonder about this sudden change, but, he helped me, right? Because of him, I’m not suffering anymore. So, I don’t think there is a point to think about it. I feel grateful towards him. He helped me, so I should do something for him as well. That will be fair. Uh... but what should I do exactly? I don’t even know what to do...

Right. I don’t know what to do now. I only wanted to satisfy my hunger, but it’s satisfied so... Uh...

„It’s at the peak. It means it’s midday. Evening is when the Sun is going down, close to the horizon.”

Ohhh... I don’t think I get it.

Anyway, I have time till this „evening" to find more food, but I don’t even know where should I go... I feel really dumb. Also, I need to do something for him, while he helped me.

„Hm?” he turned back.

„Thank you.”

He looked at me weirdly. Like... he’s surprised? I can’t really tell, but it would be good to explain why I said that.

„For help.”

His gaze changed, it’s calmer.

„It’s fine.”

„Umm, can I do something for you as well?”

He’s again surprised... I thought that would be fair this way. His help meant a lot to me, so it’s only natural to do something for him as well.

„For me?”

„Yes. You helped me with problem I couldn’t solve. Even if it’s temporary... I want to help too. Somehow...”

He straight up and starts looking at something behind me. He’s thinking about something. Barely few seconds left and he already made up his mind.

„Can you wait here again for me? I need to ask about something.”

He went again to the group. They are standing quite far from me. Probably they are still vary of me... Well, I wanted to destroy their place. They have the right to feel that way.

I know nothing about this place. I don’t know any of these, what they are, I can’t even name them, but whenever I look around... I stop for a few seconds to have an even closer look. I don’t know why, but such view makes me calm. I could stand like that for some time. It’s a good feeling.

„Sorry to make you wait.”

Oh, he already came back? I didn’t even notice. Hmm... Maybe he knows about them?

„Do you know what are those?” I pointed at green things in distance and he looked at them.

„What exactly?”

„Those green things, down there.”

„You mean trees?”

„Trees?”

„That’s how we called them. To be exact, tree is the plant that grows from ground, and from trees, its branches, grow leaves, the green things. I think that’s what you meant.”

Trees, huh? So that what they are called.

Eh? He’s looking at me again. With his wondering gaze... He spoke after a moment.

„There might be something in which you can help me.”

„Is it?”

„Yes, but...” he started to think again; he’s really thinking a lot. „you won’t be able to do it right now, I think.”

Huh? But why? Uhh... I wonder when I’ll be able.

„It will require some preparation before we can start. I will take care of it.”

Well, if he says so. He knows better what to do than me.

„Is it alright for you?”

„Yes, of course! To be honest, I don’t even know what to do.”

I really want to help, but I don’t know what can I do to help him. Even with those preparations. I feel dumb again and it doesn’t make me feel okay.

I wanted to ask him about those people in group, but they were already gone. Where did they go? Eh? Where did he go? Ahhh! He’s not waiting for me! Need to catch up to him!

Luckily, he didn’t go that far. I think I can ask him anyway.

„About those people...”

„Hm?” he looked at me again.

„Where did they go?”

„To work.” he looked away.

„To work?” another word I don’t understand.

„To do their duties. Everyone has their own.”

„Ah... You have your own too?”

„I have.”

I think there is no point to ask more about it, while I have a feeling I won’t understand his duties.

We get closer to those „trees". They are even taller than I thought. And it’s really coming from the ground! And it has those „branches" and „leaves"! It’s really impressive. Oh! There are so many leaves on a tree! I thought it’s just one big pile of them...

„I wanted to have a closer look on a tree.”

„And what do you think?”

„It’s more impressive than I thought.”

„You think so?”

We were in a place, where there are a lot of them gathered close. It seems to be... colder, I think? And there is not much light here. Probably because there are so many of them.

„Can I ask you something?”

„Feel free to ask.”

„You mentioned earlier name of your kind.”

„Humans.”

„Yes, humans. Everyone here... they are all humans?”

„Yes.”

„Are there more humans?”

„Probably.”

He doesn’t know?

„Probably?”

He deeply sighed. „I said probably, but I’m sure there are more humans in the world.”

„How many?”

„Way too many.”

He seems annoyed. I guess I asked too much. My bad. I just am... I lack the word here... I just want to know more.

„Can you do me a favor?”

„Favor?”

„Can you do something for me?”

„Sure.”

„Can you keep your questions to the point we reach my house?”

Oh no, he’s angry.

„Sorry...”

„No need to feel sorry. I put it wrong. I will answer your questions when we get there. We’re close.”

So he’s not angry?

I have a problem with understanding him. He seemed to be angry, at least I thought that. He didn’t say it like he was once angry at me. His voice was much louder and, he was clearly angry. I felt that straight away. Now, he said that quieter, but, there was something in the way he said that... I don’t know. Maybe he was annoyed? Hard to say.

„We are here.”

This is... I don’t have a word for that thing. I saw something like that earlier, in the place where there wasn’t much trees. He entered it, I went after him. There were so many things that I have never seen... I start to feel a bit confused. I guess it’s too much for me.

„You can sit in there.”

He pointed at something in the middle. It kind of looked like something where I can sit. Oh, it's comfortable. He put something in the corner. Huh? He had something like that with him? It looks like a giant, long stick, but it’s upper part is more circular.

„It must be confusing to you.” he said that after taking a seat next to me.

„Huh?”

„Everything.”

Well, he’s right.

„It is.”

„I believe you have way more questions than I think, and I’m afraid there won’t be enough time to tell you about everything.”

Uh?

„That’s why I want to talk to you to understand the situation. And to be able to make a decision.”

„What decision?”

It’s even more confusing...

„It’s related to the thing in which you can help me.”

Oh, okay. I get it.

„You don’t need to feel forced to that or feel uncomfortable, while it’s not my intention, but I need to know how much knowledge you possess.”

Again, I don’t get it. Also, this uncomfortable feeling is coming back. When he was angry at me and now, he’s nice towards me. I don’t understand it at all.

„I’m doing that, because you seemed to me confused with the situation in which you’ve found yourself-"

I need to ask him. I have to ask him. It’s devouring me from the inside.

„Why did you help me?”

He kept silent.

„I’m thankful for that, but... at first, you’re angry at me, and now...”

It doesn’t have any sense...

„I don’t know.”

? What does it mean?

„I don’t know why I did that. I won’t deny anything either.” he kept silent again for some time. „At first, I was improvising to stop you, while I didn’t want you to destroy this planet, but then... I don’t know. Maybe because I felt no malicious energy from you. No evil. Maybe that’s why. Your behaviour only confirmed that.”

No evil? Evil was something bad... So he thinks that I’m not bad? But...

„That’s why I want to ask you about yourself. I won’t do anything.”

I don’t have a reason to keep it from him.

„Where should I start?”

„From the beginning.”

I sighed. I don’t know why I feel... chained? I don’t know. I still lack words.

„I’m not sure if I remember everything...”

„It’s fine.”

„First thing I remember is that I was floating in a void.”

„A void?”

„Mhm. It was endless, dark. I could go up, down, right, left – everything looked the same.”

„Space?”

„Maybe. They were the only things besides me in there.”

He said nothing. His gaze changed, but I couldn’t tell how. I only know that when I look at him, I feel weird. I’ve never felt like that nor I saw face like that.

„I didn’t know what to do with myself, so I decided to go straight all the time.”

„When did your hunger appear?”

„I’m not sure. At some point. At first, it was nothing, but later, it started to be unbearable. My intuition told me to try eat something. There were only planets around, so...”

„You ate it?”

„I tried, but it was much harder than I thought.”

„Planets are usually made of hard material that even you won’t be able to go through with your teeth.”

„I figured it out. But I had to somehow eat it. I found out that I can eat its energy.”

„Energy?”

„I can’t explain it, but, after destroying planet, I could devour its energy. And it was somehow filling my stomach, but, it was never enough. No matter how much I ate.”

„Hmm... And that’s why you were so desperate...”

„I... just wanted to satisfy it. So it won’t hurt anymore.”

Again he had the same gaze as before.

„I understand.”

„I didn’t know... about anything...”

„When did you learn how to speak?”

„Uh... I think I could since I remember.”

„Same with your vocabulary and everything else?”

„Yes.”

„Right...” he was thinking again about something. „So I wasn’t wrong.”

Suddenly he stood up and looked at me. I don’t know what’s going on in his head nor what he’s going to do. He came closer and bend next to me.

„I think that it will be easier for you, but also for me, to just share with you some basic information about this world, life etc. They will be base for you to understand things and experience world in your way.”

„You can do that?”

„I can. As I said, they are the most basic of basics, but you won’t feel that confused as you feel now.”

He’s really nice... Oh!

„Does it have anything in common with helping you?”

„It does. That is the decision I had to make. To be honest with you, I’m not sure how much you know, but I think it’ll help you also with understanding yourself.”

Will it? There are many feelings that I have experienced, but I wasn’t able to tell if they are good or no. I couldn’t even name them.

I’m curious of this world, and if it’s needed to help him to get this knowledge, then I’m fine with it.

„Okay. Do it.”

„Are you sure?”

„Yes, I want that.”

„Fine. You may feel weird at first, but you’ll get used to it.”

I nodded. He put his hand on my forehead. Nothing is happening for now. Eh?! I feel something!
