Chapter 1:

Akio and Chiharu

A Life Of Teasing My Cute Junior

Yuuki Akio is currently a 3rd year in high school, preparing for his university entrance exams.

Ayakouji Chiharu is in the same school as he is, currently in her 2nd year.

The both of them met back in middle school during student council activities, and it was love at first sight for both.

"Damn, this is the cutest girl I have ever met!" Was what Akio thought.

"W-wow, he's the coolest guy I've ever met in my life!" Was what Chiharu thought.

Akio is a sociable guy who is fairly popular with both guys and girls alike. He has a cheeky demeanor, and having fun is his number one priority.

Chiharu can be described as always trying her best, innocent, and easily flustered.

Upon their first meeting, Akio kept sticking to her and tried to make conversation, which Chiharu eventually responded to by opening up to him.

Their bond is precious in both their hearts, and they love each other deeply. However, neither of them are bold enough to confess, and their relationship remains as more than friends, but not quite lovers.

When Akio graduated from middle school, Chiharu promised him that she will attend whichever high school he decides to go to.

Fast forward to the present...

It is April, the start of a new semester. The students are given a 30 minutes break to rest in between lessons.

Yuuki Akio hunches over the railing outside his classroom, staring into the distance. His academic results hasn't been all that stellar, and he is starting to worry about his future prospects. His university entrance examinations will be coming soon, and he feels like he'll do badly.

His family doesn't give him pressure at all and simply tells him to "try his best", and he accepted that as an excuse to slack off and not study, telling his mother that "being able to barely pass all my subjects is already my best!"

Now that the consequences of being so lazy finally hits him, he feels highly pressurized to study hard and do well.

"But I don't want to study!!!" He lets out a scream and strikes the railing.

Despite causing such a ruckus, none of Akio's friends went to him to comfort him or provide encouragement. They themselves too, are suffering from a boatload of exam stress.

"Senpai?"

Chiharu was making her way to Akio's class from her own, as she wanted to see him.

Akio's gloomy expression immediately brightened up from seeing her, and he turned to face her.

"Chiharu-chan!!! It's so nice to see you!"

"I-I heard you shouting. Is something wrong?" She asked him out of concern. She knows that he's struggling academically, but the first day of school and he's already this bummed out?

"If something's wrong, t-tell me, okay!? I'll do my best to help!"
Akio smirked and playful thoughts flooded his mind again, allowing him to forget all the stressful things instantly.

"Hehehe, you're so cute, Chiharu-Chan."

"W-What's this all a sudden!? You're not answering my question!" She got flustered and the tone of her voice immediately weakened.

"Nothing. You're just so cute, Chiharu. You're the cutest thing in the universe." Akio's smirk transformed into a flirty smile, and he stared at Chiharu intently.

"C-calm down, Ayakouji Chiharu! You know he's just teasing you to get a reaction out of you!" Chiharu thought to herself. However, her embarrassment continued to build up and words escaped from her mouth.

"Me, cute!? I-I-I'm not cute!! You're making fun of me, aren't you?" She shrieked in embarrassment.

"Hehe, that's up to you to decide, whether if I'm making fun of you, Cute little Chiharu-Chan!"

"Geez, Whatever! Just take care of yourself, okay!? T-take this and focus in class after drinking it, okay? See you later!" She handed him a can of green tea and left as fast as she could, as she felt like she could no longer contain her embarrassment.

"He-he called me cute...! HE CALLED ME CUTE...!" Was what went through her mind repeatedly as she made her way back to class.

"Ah, she's so cute.. I just can't be honest with myself when I'm around her!" Was what he thought to himself as he grasped the can of green tea closely to his chest.

He wants to tell her that he loves her every time they meet, but he gets cold feet every time he sees her and instead unleash an endless barrage of teasing on Chiharu to hide his lack of confidence.

She wants to let him know that she loves him through little acts of kindness and showing that she cares about him, but she is too timid as well to let her feelings be known.

From an outsider's perspective, it's very obvious that the two of them are lovebirds, just that they are too hopeless to take it further to the next step.

Will the border of "More than friends, but not quite lovers" be crossed between the two of them?
