The Doorway

The door felt massive but not big enough to stop me. I rang the doorbell to see what lies ahead, and heard running footsteps from inside. I slightly adjusted my bangs as I got ready to answer, hoping it may be Natsuki. To my dismay, it was her little sister.

"Oh, Saya-neechan? Nee san is having her breakfast. Want to wait inside?" she inquired.

"Nah, I'm fine. Can you let her know I'm waiting outside?"

"Sure!" She exclaimed and ran like a cheetah. Kids do grow up pretty fast, I surely don't remember her bolting so fast before.

I waited for two minutes, which felt like a lot of time in retrospect. Again, I heard a fast pair of footsteps but they felt a bit heavier. As the door was left open, I could see Natsuki walking hastily toward me, with a piece of bread in her mouth.

"Oh hello. Hope I didn't force you up to eat hastily?"

"Nah, it's fine. I wanted out anyway, thanks for dropping by. Did you want to go to school together?" I could feel her awkward gaze at me, but didn't question it. It was already hard to piece together my own feelings at the moment. This Natsuki is something that was always hiding behind a silhouette and felt a bit mysterious but I didn't have the courage to uncover it.

"Yeah, given we are going out I wanted to go together." Ah, even saying these words is making me red and hot.

"Oh, sure. Just give me 5 minutes more, I'll ready up in a quickie", as she said this she bolted out again. What's with this family and running?

Well, I don't mind waiting for her, she will be back shortly.
