Chapter 3:

Horror Upon Extra Horror

To All the People Who Don't Understand

It takes me a few solid minutes to process what Heather just said. What does she mean that I'm not 'human'? Of course I'm human! Why wouldn't I be? It's not like I'm some wild animal!!

"Don't touch me" I shout, lashing out at her. She pulls her hand back, clearly hurt. "Sorry..." I mumble, barely audible. I instantly regret shouting at her, because I'm worried she won't explain.

"Please, Heather," I say softly, "I really want to hear what you have to say. I'll listen to it all. I promise." Heather draws in a breath and sighs.

"Well, all right then. I guess I do owe you an explanation." Heather walks towards the kitchen and opens the cupboard. "But, it's going to be a long story so, do you want some snacks first?" I leap out of my chair and dash towards the kitchen, as I can tell she is specifically referencing her famous blueberry muffins. YUM!

I grab, like, seven of 'em and sit back down in my chair, happily munching away. "Okay, begin!" I say, ready for whatever information she throws at me, or so I thought...
