Chapter 2:
Encore!
“Gabriel! What the hell are you doing? Get on this bike or we’re going to be late!” William yelled.
“…Huh? Wait, William?!”
Gabriel realizes that something is off. Not only is William frantically riding his bike, but he also has bruises all over his body. Worried, Gabriel tries to figure out what could’ve happened to put William in such a state.
“Gabriel! Come on, get on my bike! Remember our promise the other day? We can’t miss that train!”
Gabriel hesitates for a second, then jumps onto the back of the bike.
“You’re gonna explain what’s going on, right?” Gabriel asks.
“Later!” William snaps and pushes the pedals harder. “We don’t have time!”
“At least explain what happened to your body, you’re hurt everywhere!” Gabriel responds.
“I will! Once we get on that train! For now, just be quiet, I’m trying to focus!”
The wind rushes past them as the bike speeds up faster and faster. Gabriel stops talking, but still glances at the bruises on William’s arms.
Arriving at the train station, Gabriel and William sigh with relief.
“We made it…” Gabriel muttered, catching his breath.
William, already scanning the station, tensed up.
“Something’s off…” William said quietly.
Gabriel looks around. The station is busy as always, but something about it doesn’t feel right.
“Something does feel wrong, but who cares? We have a train to catch!”
William looks around nervously and says, “Yeah… maybe it’s just nothing.”
A low rumble echoed throughout the station.
“Finally, it’s here!” someone yelled.
The train headlights appeared in the distance, growing brighter by the second.
“Look Will! It’s the train! We can worry about it once we’re on it.” Gabriel said excitedly.
William doesn’t respond right away.
“Yeah,” he says after a moment. “Just have your guard up Gabe.”
The train pulls into the station with a long, disgusting screech of metal and brakes, slowing to a stop.
