Chapter 180:
His Soul is Marching On to Another World; or, the John Brown Isekai
Records of the Gemeinplatz Revolutionary War, volume two, appendix one.
According to historical record, and my personal observations as a participant, the people closely involved in the revolution were doing thusly in the early days of year 1 (formerly Imperial calendar year 5860):
John Brown, the otherworlder from Örf who acted as Commander-in-Chief of the Republic, was supposed to be residing in his headquarters (built into the cave which Libertycave takes its name from) in Libertycave. However, he spent most of his time travelling around the Republic, never staying in one place for more than a day or two unless he was needed. These visits were mostly spent inspecting the works of the Republic, giving morale to the men or suggesting improvements and helping out personally if help was needed.
Ayomide, captain of the Army of the Republic presumably from the far lands of Ginye as she was a fugitive slave, and Shinasi of Yellowclover, also a captain of the Army of the Republic who was a native of Gemeinplatz, often accompanied Brown on these trips. By this point, the two of them shared a house in Libertycave and their romantic involvement was well-known. Shinasi had a father, also named Shinasi, and a sister named Shirin.
Harriet Tubman, an otherworlder from Örf who is known to be from Awmereighka like John Brown, known as “General Tubman” to her men, was spending most of this year conducting raids against the territory of Ancoire to free slaves from the Imperial work camps and scouting out the situation in Ancoire through inside contacts. While other works have overlooked her importance compared to the more direct and observable acts of the Army of the Republic, the author would like to point out that her intel and raids proved invaluable throughout the war and that the actions of the army would be much more costly (and perhaps impossible) without her.
Sir Jacob Smith of Florida, an otherworlder from Örf and Awmereighka who operated what’s known as a “maid café” with his cheat skill that allowed him to mind control those who enslaved, was stabbed to death by John Brown on the leadup to the Azdavay Slave Uprising. His grave can be found in the graveyard of the temple of Azdavay.
Hakim, the former cook of Jacob enslaved by him, was working as a cook in an orphanage in Libertycave. Tater, also a former slave of Jacob who worked as a kitchen hand, was staying in that orphanage with other freed slave children.
Count Leon Satō-Wang of Casamonu was the count of Casamonu during the Casamonu Slave Uprising. After trying to arrest Sir Baha Earlywatch on charges of treason (due to the latter having paid ransom to the slaves who had kidnapped his sister), and failing to suppress the slaves hiding in Mount Curry, the frustrated nobles rose up against him and took Casamonu. He was executed a day after his capture by the furious group of noblemen. The location of his grave is unknown to this day.
Sir Algernon Satō-Wang of Curry was a copper mine owner who was the cousin of Leon. He was captured during a slave uprising instigated by the League of Gileadites and put to death. His body was entombed in the copper mine.
Kasim and Melissa were slave overseers working for Algernon. They were killed during the slave uprising in the copper mine.
Lady Leila Earlywatch was the wife of Algernon. She was captured after the slave uprising and put to ransom by the League of Gileadites. Leila was released after her ransom was paid, found by Count Leon after he marched an army up to the copper mine. She proceeded to travel to her relatives in Ancoire, leave her children Ani, Timmy and her newborn up to their care, and take vows to enter a monastery and seclude herself there to repent for her sins which she saw as the cause for her and her husband’s downfall.
Shakir, an adventurer who accompanied Shinasi and Shakira as a party, was killed by the League of Gileadites while he was accompanying Count Leon’s army up to the copper mine. His body was buried in an unmarked grave by the count’s troops.
Sir Baha Earlywatch was the head of the Earlywatch family who are distantly related to the Imperial Earlyriser family. He was declared an outlaw by Count Leon after he paid his sister Leila’s ransom to the League of Gileadites. Baha got together a coalition of nobles from Casamonu who managed to defeat the count’s army and put Baha in charge of the county. His diary, recovered by his former servant Ted, shows that he was unable to deal with the stress that came with ruling Casamonu during such a tense time. Ship logs from Zon’guldac show that he escaped to Aroghlie and requisitioned a boat to the Imperial capital. Baha disappears from the historical record after that event. Some have speculated that his boat was shipwrecked and he lost his life along the way, but there is no conclusive evidence either way.
Sir Korvus Jr. of Casamonu was a local nobleman who led the troops of Count Leon in an attempt to apprehend Baha. He was defeated in the battle and captured by Baha. Korvus Jr. soon succumbed to the wounds he received in battle and died before he could be ransomed. Korvus Sr. is known to have escaped to the Imperial capital after the battle in fear of reprisal. Sir Korvus II briefly took power during the power struggle after Count Leon’s death and Baha’s disappearance. He adventured under an alter ego of a black knight, with a witch companion named Tangerina (records are unclear whether she was an otherworlder too). He is exceptional among otherworlder heroes for not having participated in slavery directly, preferring to free his employees, but he still assisted Count Leon’s expedition to the copper mine with a squad of infantry armed with otherworlder rifles. He was killed when he tried to directly attack Libertycave with his adventuring party, his body being buried in the Libertycave graveyard. Tangerina managed to escape during the chaos, most likely by using some form of magic. Her current whereabouts were unknown by this point.
Nirmal was the secretary of Kim Seong-min, a dark elf cast away from the forests of Zon’guldac after the forest elves gained superiority in the region. Azra Inkwell was the daughter of Yaz Inkwell who inherited the printworks after her father. She was a well-known lover of fantastical tales of adventurers. Her second-in-command was Shakira, a former adventuring companion of Shinasi famous for her huge sword who retired from adventuring after the failed expedition to the copper mine. The two are known to have been quite close, to such a degree that some have classified their relationship as a “romantic friendship”.

Finally, Doctor Raban Rabanowicz Rabanow, the author of this work and an otherworlder from Cabbagelandetia. If you wish to learn more about my life before Gemeinplatz, I recommend you check out my other work, The Errant Otherworlder. I had arrived in Gemeinplatz while me and my otherworlder assistant were on our way down to Lutyvolvyia-Estland to find more about the otherworlder phenomenon, sponsored by the Grand Preacher of Lahanezy. A carriage hit us on the road out of Brasscirom, and we found ourselves stranded in the wilds of this strange realm. We encountered John Brown and co. while they were travelling to Casamonu and were being chased by bandits. After that, I joined his cause and lent my expertise.
