Anger, the Gentle Assassin (Part 2)

Just then, a faint whoosh of air brushed past Tanimaki’s cheek.

Something—or rather, someone—had slipped right past him in the darkness.

“To think you can follow my movements... Just who are you?”

A youthful yet composed voice came from somewhere in the darkness.

“Mayutan! Someone’s behind you, meow!”

Tanimaki shouted.

Mayutan spun around at once. But there was no one there anymore.

“So you really can see me...”

The mysterious voice sounded somewhat impressed by Tanimaki’s ability.

“Now he’s behind Debiru, meow!”

“He’s right! Someone’s behind you!”

This time, Mayutan caught sight of him too. Debiru turned around, and the owner of the voice spoke in a calm tone.

“I am Undo’s son... My name is Anger. I have come to assassinate you!”

“Tanimakick!”

Tanimaki attacked without a moment’s hesitation. But Anger vanished in an instant.

“That guy can teleport, meow!”

But the next moment—before Tanimaki even realized what had happened—Anger was standing behind him.

“The standard tactic would be to eliminate the one who can see my movements first.”

Without changing his expression, Anger seized Tanimaki by the throat with his left hand and raised the dagger in his right.

“Meeeow! Help me, meeeow!”

But just before striking, Anger released him. Tanimaki collapsed weakly onto the ground.

“...I’m sorry. I was testing you.”

With that, Anger bowed his head in apology.

“What do you mean?”

Mayutan was relieved that Tanimaki had been released, but he could not understand Anger’s actions.
