Chapter 52:

Anger, the Gentle Assassin (Part 3)

Welcome to the Republic of Meows!

“Please come to my home. I’ll tell you everything.”

Anger spoke in a gentle tone.

“I don’t trust him, meow!” Tanimaki snapped.

“It’s all right, Tanimaki. If he had truly intended to kill us, he would have done it by now.”

Mayutan spoke softly, trying to reassure the anxious Tanimaki.

After exchanging glances, the three of them gave small nods. They had decided to trust Anger and follow him.

His house stood deep within a back alley beyond the shopping district, beside an old well that was no longer in use.

The interior was packed with equipment for physical training: thick logs, hanging ropes, roughly carved stone weights, and more.

Every piece of equipment showed signs of heavy use, revealing the intensity of his daily training.

The three sat down around the fireplace and sipped the Darjeeling tea Anger had served them.

Its subtle sweetness and delicate floral aftertaste lingered pleasantly, blending perfectly with the warmth of the fire.

“Please defeat Undo.”

Anger was the first to break the silence. Yet he had said that he was Undo’s son.

“Why?”

Mayutan asked with a grave expression.

“Undo abandoned my mother. I’ve hated him ever since.”

Anger answered, sadness filling his eyes.

“That isn’t the only reason. Undo tried to raise me as a killing machine. But even now, I can’t bring myself to kill a single insect. That’s why Undo abandoned me too.”

“You can’t even kill an insect... You’re just like me.”

Debiru murmured sympathetically.

The son of the Demon King and the son of the evil sorcerer who opposed him—neither of them had any desire to fight. There was something deeply ironic about it.
