Chapter 2:
I Got The Wrong Skill For My Class
Lying in bed, Ethan pulls up his Status Window.
Class: Subjugator Level one Experience 0/100 Skills - Item enhancement level one. Attributes - Strength - 2 Dexterity - 3 Agility - 2 Constitution - 2 Intelligence - 2 Wisdom - 1 Luck - 1 Attribute Points Available 21
"Ok, I don't think I've read anything about a hero with this Class, and I know I haven't read anything about a Luck Attribute. Holy... how do I have twenty-one Attribute points? Shouldn't I have started with twelve, two for each attribute?" Ethan pulls out his phone and checks the Power Academy's forums, but every search says that when you acquire a class, you will get twelve attribute points to spend how you like. There is nowhere in the forums that talks about an attribute named Luck. "Could it have been because that Power Sphere was damaged and it malfunctioned when it gave me my Class?" Ethan gives the mental command, 'Luck Details,' and a new window pops up with a jumble of letters and letters on top of those letters. "Ahhh, how am I supposed to figure this out if that's what it's going to do. Ok, I should look up my Class." Searching the forum again, he combs through the list of Common Classes, not finding it. "Ok, at least it's not a Common Class; now to check the Uncommon Class list. Surprisingly, this list is more than twice the size of the last, and after carefully going through it, he still doesn't find his Class on the list. "Oh, heck yeah, it has to be a Rare Class." Ethan's hands shake with excitement as he scrolls the list of Rare Classes. "What it is not on here?" He goes back and scans the lists again. "Oh, please, oh please be a new Class no one has ever had." He says to himself as he pulls up the last list, Unique Class. There it is, about halfway down the list, 'Subjugator'. Ethan slumps back into the bed. Why does it have to be a Unique Class? They never become great heroes; most don't even gain fighting skills, just a bunch of craftsmen. The ones that do get fighting skills are like Necromancers, and who wants to be a fan of a hero that has a bunch of smelly corpses around him all the time? Pulling his Status Window back up, he looks at his class description.
Class Description
Class Subjugator
Take control of any creature you defeat
Subjugated 0/10
"Wait, it doesn't have a time limit to control the creature. Could this mean I can control it forever, unlike a necromancer, where they can only control it till the creature is too rotten to function. I wonder if there is anything on the Power Academy forums?" Barely able to contain his excitement, he began looking at everything Subjugator-related. Many of the forums were locked, leaving him frustrated. When he finally found one that piqued his interest. It was titled 'Subjugator and the Subjugated', and he quickly opened the link. "AHHHHH! REALLY!" He yelled, finding the post was for a leash-free dog walking service. "I can't believe this. I got a class just to find out it's trash. Maybe Mom can get her money back from the Power Academy? Andy and Jill are going to be so mad. We were supposed to make the best hero team ever. Ethan rolls over, deciding to drown his sorrow in sweet desserts from room service. When he reaches for the phone on the nightstand, he sees a wasp on the receiver. Ethan flicks it, sending it crashing into the wall. He picks up the phone, but just before he can dial for room service, the wasp is back flying at his face. Swinging his hands, he shouts, "Stop, leave me alone." Instantly, the wasp stops and hovers in the air in front of Ethan. "What, did I do that?" Hanging the phone up, he looks at the wasp, "Fly in a circle." The wasp quickly flies in a tight circle before his eyes. Ethan's mouth falls open in astonishment, "I can't believe I just did that. Maybe I could work my way up to something like a lion. That would be so cool, walking in on a bank robbery with some lions and bears and stuff. I can just see the look on the bad guy's face. This just might work out."
Several hours pass by, and Ethan finds he doesn't even need to give the wasp verbal commands to control it. Giving the wasp mental commands, he has the wasp zipping all over the hotel room. When his family returns just before lunch, Ethan is letting the wasp eat some of his leftover waffles from breakfast. His dad walks into his room and stands next to the bed. He quickly grabs a stack of brochures and swats the wasp, killing it. A window pops up in front of Ethan. "Your Subjugated Wasps Has Been Killed." Ethan slumps in the bed. "Hey, Dad, what's up?" Allen gives him a big smile. "Did you see me get that wasp? I crushed that nasty guy." Ethan's mood sours. "Yeah, Dad, you totally owned it, great job," he tells his dad unenthusiastically. "Well, don't look so happy about it then. Oh, and by the way, we brought some really amazing Mexican food back for lunch." Hearing Lunch and Mexican food, Ethan's mood does a complete one-eighty. "Oh, yeah, what did you bring me?" With his mood visibly brighter, Ethan's dad leaves the room and returns with a take-out box, setting it on Ethan's lap. "Your mom ordered you a steak and chicken chimichanga, and your sister insisted on getting extra ranchero sauce on them. Sorry if they are a little soggy. It was a fifteen-minute drive from the restaurant." Not even bothering to say thanks, Ethan flips open the box, digging into the food in front of him. After several bites, he says thanks, through the mouthful of food. His dad looks down at him with a big smile on his face. "I guess this makes up for being stuck in the hotel room all morning?" "MMMM HMMM!" Ethan exclaims, his mouth jammed full of food. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your sister talked your mom into going to the water park. Other than bringing you lunch, we're back to get our swimming gear and going to be heading back out." Shrugging his shoulders, Ethan barely hears anything coming from his dad, too engrossed in the delicious food.
Ethan's family left for the water park, only crumbs left in the takeout box, and he sits back in his bed, wondering what to do now. Just as he is reaching for the TV remote, his phone goes off. It's an email from the Power Academy. He quickly opens the email; It's an acceptance letter. In the letter, it says he will get basic physical training, basic mental training, Basic hero training, and basics in crowd control and public relations. The letter also states that he has been given year-one student access to the Power Academy website. He quickly logs in on the website and notices a tab that reads "Year-One Students"; clicking it, it brings up a list of links. Too excited to pay attention, Ethan clicks the first link. The page loads, and the title reads "Stats And How They Work".

"Ha, I'm not going to miss out on any more of this vacation." Ethan pulls up his Status Window and adds three points to his Constitution.
