Caitlin Snow quieted down, still trembling.

Damon came over, crouched in front of her, and gave her a bright smile.

"That is better. Calm down and stay quiet. Do not act like the heroine of a cheap soap opera, screaming every other second. It ruins your image in my mind, and I am more interested in your other self anyway."

Caitlin stared at him, shaking and confused.

My other self?

What did that mean?

"I do not plan to hurt you. In half an hour, once Cisco Ramon finishes what I want, you can leave. Until then, I hope you can behave. Can you do that?"

Damon's voice was gentle.

Caitlin nodded.

"Good."

Damon patted Caitlin on the head, satisfied, then asked casually, "Do you have a boyfriend?"

Caitlin shook her head.

"No? Good. You are better off single."

Damon chuckled.

Caitlin did not like that.

What did he mean, better off single?

She snapped, "Why?"

Why?

Because of your talent for ruining boyfriends, obviously.

First there was Ronnie Raymond, another S.T.A.R. Labs scientist and Caitlin Snow's fiance. After the particle accelerator explosion, he merged with Martin Stein and became Firestorm. In the end, he died saving Central City.

Then came Hunter Zolomon, Earth-2's Zoom. He ruled Earth-2 and beat Barry Allen so badly the Flash could barely function, and he died too.

The last was Julian Albert, Doctor Alchemy. He did not die, but he left directly.

Caitlin Snow seemed destined to grow old alone.

Damon patted Caitlin's shoulder with solemn seriousness, as if shouldering a noble burden.

"Remember, do not get a boyfriend. If you ever really need someone, you can come to me. As the saying goes, if I do not enter hell, who will? My life is hard to break. Your bad luck cannot kill me."

What did he mean, if she needed someone, she could come to him?

What did he mean, if he did not enter hell, who would?

What did he mean, his life was hard to break and her bad luck could not kill him?

If she could beat him, Caitlin would fight him right now.

She turned her head away from Damon, wearing the clear expression of someone who was angry and refusing to engage.

Angry or not, Caitlin was no longer as terrified as before. The man spoke in an infuriating way, but he did seem to have no intention of hurting her.

Once the fear faded, curiosity naturally rose.

She was not as obsessed with superpowers as Cisco Ramon, but as a bioengineer, she was deeply curious about how Damon could produce electricity. If she could, she even wanted to run a complete physical examination and gather data.

"What is your name?" Caitlin asked tentatively.

"Damon Keller."

"Were you born with this ability, or did something happen to you later? Have you ever had a medical workup?"

Damon smiled.

"What, you want to examine me?"

Caitlin nodded first, then shook her head.

"There are no confirmed cases, but your condition should involve genetic changes. If we were in the lab, I could give you a detailed examination. Maybe we could determine how you gained the ability and what its upper limits are."

After saying that, Caitlin sighed regretfully.

In the current situation, she clearly had no chance to examine him.

"If you can keep a secret, I might come to you someday and let you examine me quietly. What do you think? I will say the ugly part first. If you cannot keep quiet when that happens, I will have to kill you."

When Caitlin put it that way, Damon also grew curious about his own body.

"Really?"

Caitlin's eyes lit up, and she asked eagerly, "When?"

"When I feel like it."

"Then it's settled. I will not tell anyone the results. I just want to know why."

Afraid Damon would change his mind, Caitlin quickly gave him her phone number.

"Call me in advance when you want to come. I will arrange it."

"Good."

Damon memorized the number and nodded.

"Why do you need sonic gear?" Caitlin suddenly asked, realizing the obvious. "If you have powers, you should not need that kind of equipment."

"You will know later."

Time passed without either of them noticing as they talked.

Damon did not carry Caitlin or tie her up. He simply took her downstairs and returned to S.T.A.R. Labs.

At the entrance, the security guard he had shocked unconscious had already been taken inside for treatment. Cisco Ramon stood by the door with a box in his hands, Harrison Wells beside him.

When Cisco and Wells saw Damon and Caitlin come back side by side, talking almost like friends, both of them froze.

What was going on?

Had Caitlin not been kidnapped by Damon?

Why did she look as if she had just come back with a friend?

"Caitlin, are you okay?" Cisco asked anxiously as they approached.

Caitlin glanced at Damon, then shook her head.

"I'm fine. He did not do anything to me."

"That's good."

Cisco let out a breath and handed the box over.

"This is what you wanted."

Damon took it and opened it.

Inside the box was a round device about the size of a watch face, fixed onto a black metal band two fingers wide.

Cisco began explaining how to use it with professional diligence.

"Touch it with your finger to activate it. Touch here at the same time to adjust the sonic output..."
