VOLUMEN 1: The Boy SUMMONED BY MistakeEpisodio 1(Part 1):The Day the sky Broke
The school bell rang, announcing the end of classes.
—Finally!
The students rushed out of the classroom as if they had just escaped from prison.
—Kazuki, are you coming to play later? —Haruto asked while putting on his backpack.
Kazuki smiled.
—Not today. My mother asked me to buy dinner before I get home.
—What a responsible son...
—Shut up.
The two of them laughed.
It was a completely normal afternoon.
So normal that it was almost boring.
"Another week just like this..." Kazuki thought as he walked down the street.
The traffic was the same as always.
Children were running around.
The stores remained open.
The smell of freshly baked bread drifted from a small bakery nearby.
Nothing suggested that this would be the last day of his old life.
...
While waiting for the traffic light to change, a little girl suddenly let go of her mother's hand and ran into the street.
—Mika! Wait!
A truck appeared at full speed.
The brakes screamed.
People shouted.
—Watch out!
Kazuki moved before he even had time to think.
He ran.
"I won't make it..."
He stretched out his arm.
He pushed the girl away.
She fell safely onto the sidewalk.
But he didn't.
Everything was covered in a white light.
There was no pain.
No sound.
Only silence.
...
—Am I... dead?
He slowly opened his eyes.
There was no hospital.
No city.
Above him was a sky with three moons shining at the same time.
—...
He blinked several times.
—No... wait...
He looked again.
They were still there.
Three.
Moons.
—...
—What the hell...?
He suddenly sat up.
A vast forest surrounded a field of blue flowers he had never seen before.
The wind moved through the grass as if the land itself was breathing.
Butterflies the size of crows flew between the flowers.
One of them passed in front of his face.
Its transparent wings released tiny glowing particles.
Kazuki swallowed nervously.
—This... definitely isn't Japan.
A strange voice answered.
—Of course it isn't.
Kazuki turned around so quickly he almost lost his balance.
Sitting on a rock was a girl with silver hair, golden eyes, and pointed ears.
She wore a white robe decorated with glowing symbols.
She smiled calmly.
—Welcome to the continent of Astravia.
Kazuki raised an eyebrow.
—...
—Who are you?
—My name is Lyra.
She gracefully tilted her head.
—And... I accidentally brought you here.
Silence.
The wind blew once again.
Kazuki stared at her.
—...
—What do you mean, accidentally?
Lyra looked away.
—It was... a small mistake.
—A small mistake?
—Yes.
—Are you telling me I died... because of a mistake?
—Well...
She nervously joined her fingers together.
—If it makes you feel better... you weren't even the soul I was supposed to summon.
Kazuki froze.
"What...?"
—...
—YOU SUMMONED THE WRONG PERSON!?
The birds in the forest suddenly flew away.
Lyra covered her ears.
—Don't shout!
—How am I supposed to not shout?!
—It was an accident!
—THAT DOESN'T MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!
She sighed.
—I'm sorry.
She truly looked regretful.
Kazuki took a deep breath.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
"Stay calm... Stay calm..."
It didn't work.
—I WANT TO GO HOME!
Lyra lowered her eyes.
—I can't.
Those two words felt heavier than anything else.
Kazuki felt an emptiness in his chest.
His family.
His friends.
His home.
Everything had disappeared in an instant.
Lyra stepped closer.
—But...
—I will do everything I can so that this world can become your home too.
Kazuki didn't answer.
He only slowly raised his gaze toward the three moons.
The wind stopped blowing.
Then...
BOOOOOOOOM!!
An explosion shook the forest.
Trees began falling one after another.
A monstrous roar made the ground tremble.
Birds escaped in every direction.
Kazuki felt the earth shaking beneath his feet.
Lyra's face lost all color.
—It can't be...
—What is happening?
She stepped backward.
—It found us...
From deep within the forest, two enormous red eyes appeared.
A terrifying presence filled the air.
And then...
A deep voice echoed between the trees.
—At last, I found you...
