Volume 1 — Chapter 5: Ordinary Days and an Extraordinary Secret Part 2 — New Friends

The following Monday, Airi returned to school.

She tried to act normally.

Unfortunately, that was difficult.

Every time she saw her Miracle Phone, 

she remembered the battle.

Mio Hayasaka noticed immediately.

“Airi.”

“Yes?”

“Why are you smiling at your bag?”

Airi stopped smiling.

“I wasn't.”

“You definitely were.”

Airi hugged her bag.

“It's nothing!”

Mio leaned closer.

“Are you hiding a boyfriend?”

“What?! No!”

Airi's face turned bright red.

Several classmates looked over.

“It's not like that!”

Mio laughed.

“Relax! I was joking.”

Airi sighed with relief.

“You're terrible.”

In another classroom, Rina was having a similar problem.

Kaito Fujisawa placed a book on her desk.

“You forgot this in the chemistry club.”

“Thank you.”

Sana Moriyama sat beside her.

“Rina, you look tired.”

“I didn't sleep much.”

“Studying?”

Rina hesitated.

“Something like that.”

Sana smiled.

“You've been acting mysterious since Saturday.”

Rina looked away.

“I have something important to 

investigate.”

Kaito raised an eyebrow.

“Another experiment?”

“Something much more complicated.”

The Strange Coincidence

During lunch, Airi and Rina unexpectedly met in the hallway.

They both stopped.

Airi smiled awkwardly.

“Hi.”

“Hi.”

They stood silently.

Mio looked between them.

“You two know each other?”

Airi and Rina looked at each other.

“Not really,” Airi said.

“We've only spoken a few times,” Rina added.

Mio smiled.

“Then why do you both look so nervous?”

Neither girl answered.

Kaito approached from the other side.

“Rina, there you are.”

Sana followed him.

“What's going on?”

Suddenly, everyone was standing together.

Airi looked at Rina.

“This is getting complicated.”

Rina quietly replied:

“Very.”

A Very Strange Club Meeting

After school, Rina invited Airi to the chemistry club.

Airi looked around nervously.

“There are so many bottles.”

“They're chemicals.”

“That doesn't make me feel better.”

Rina laughed.

“You're afraid of a laboratory?”

“I'm a swimmer, not a scientist!”

Kaito entered the room.

“So this is your mysterious friend?”

Rina froze.

“She isn't mysterious.”

Airi raised her hand.

“Hello.”

Kaito smiled.

“I'm Kaito Fujisawa.”

“Mio already knows you?”

“No.”

Airi blinked.

“Then why did you say that?”
Kaito laughed.

“I didn't.”

Airi looked embarrassed.

“Right...”

Sana walked into the room.

“Why is everyone staring at each other?”

Rina sighed.

“This is going to be a long afternoon.”

The Legend Continues

Rina placed the old history book on the table.

Airi, Kaito and Sana looked at it.

Kaito became serious.

“This book is really old.”

Rina nodded.

“Look at this.”

She pointed to the drawing of the two warriors.

“The legend says that two chosen warriors appear when the Power Stones are threatened.”

Airi pointed at herself.

“So that's us.”

Kaito looked surprised.

“You two are the warriors?”

Airi and Rina exchanged nervous looks.

Rina finally nodded.

“We think so.”

Sana stared at them.

“Wait... you're telling me you two can transform?”

Airi whispered:

“Unfortunately.”

Sana's eyes sparkled.

“That's amazing!”

Rina immediately put a finger to her lips.
“Keep your voice down!”

“Sorry!”

Kaito looked at the Miracle Phones.

“So those devices are responsible?”

Rina nodded.

“We still don't understand how they work.”

Airi added:

“And I definitely can't control everything yet.”

Rina looked at her.

“Especially your hidden power.”

Airi became serious.

“Yeah. I can feel something much stronger inside me.”

Kaito frowned.

“Then maybe you shouldn't try to use it until you understand it.”

Airi nodded.

“I know.”

A New Piece of the Legend

Rina turned another page.

There was another passage.

“The Power Stones are scattered across the world. Each stone contains a different aspect of the world's balance.”

Airi leaned closer.

“How many are there?”

Rina continued reading.

“The number is unknown.”

Kaito looked surprised.

“Then how are you supposed to find them?”

Rina shook her head.

“The legend doesn't say.”

Suddenly, both Miracle Phones began glowing.

Everyone froze.

A new symbol appeared on the screens.

Airi looked shocked.

“It reacted to the book!”

Rina immediately opened her notebook.

“The phones may be able to locate the stones.”

The symbol slowly disappeared.

Airi smiled.

“Then we have our next mystery.”

Rina nodded.

“But we also have school tomorrow.”

Airi's expression fell.

“Do we really have to worry about homework while saving the world?”
Rina smiled.

“Yes.”

Airi groaned.

“That's unfair.”

Everyone laughed.

For the first time, the girls realized that their new life wouldn't consist only of battles.

They still had classes.

Clubs.

Friends.

Homework.

And ordinary problems.

But somewhere in the world, Reiji Kurogane was continuing his search for the Power Stones.

And he already knew that the two Miracle Hearts were beginning to understand their abilities.

The peaceful days would not last forever.
