Chapter 7:

CHAPTER 1: DEATH OF ORDER
PART 7
[09:15]
AllsCathedral
Samudraas city, Tefortis country
"High Saintess, could you come here please, we can't heal them completely"
"I'm coming, just a second, I'm almost done here. "
The sound of business for the life or death situation echoed through the high ceilings of the Cathedral. Which was being illuminated by the early morning rising sun through the clerestory windows.
Despite the ceilings and walls looking like paintings of calmness incarnate, the floor was a hell on all accounts. Countless soldiers and civilians lying on the ground already treated or awaiting treatment. Those who could move would lean on walls and either look up at the ceiling and pray or just stare into the emptiness.
Yet a single person's smile made those dead stares vanish. They saw a young girl, smiling while treating everyone. That genuine smile filled with kindness and genuine affection was the reason many had held to life in those situations.
Saeli was running around the AllsCathedral, but you possibly couldn't call that running. She was barely walking. After casting mass healing for hundreds of injured soldiers and civilians, she could barely open her eyes.
In the past 30 minutes, since her arrival she personally healed every gravely injured individual. Her nose, ears, and eyes already started bleeding in the first 20 minutes. She had a wet towel tucked at her waist to clean off the blood, but it was sparkling white.
Due to the amount of injured individuals, she didn't have time to use that towel even a single time. Now the previous blood had already clotted on her face and new blood already stated flowing over it. Which could be seen by the mix of deep blackish blood underneath the deep dark red blood flowing freshly.
She was more like a zombie than a saintess with blood all over her face, hands, and her white clothes. Yet she still prayed for any and every body without exception. She prayed knowing full well the price she was paying but in her mind it was but a small price to pay for the health of others.
Almost every soldier knew her bloodied face when she was in healing duty. It was a reason her nickname became what it is. Therefore, each soldier gratefully accepted the divine healing of the blood soaked hair. Or rather they begged for it.
Yet it was different with civilians. They did not know who Saeli was. There didn't know that yellowish golden hair belonged to the angel of the battlefield. All they saw was a human girl whose face was covered in blood. All they did was pray for her thinking she's the victim.
Although, she was a victim in a sense, she wasn't the victim in that situation. As she approached civilians to heal them, they immediately started to worry about her. It even be disgusted by her. However, once she opened her golden eyes, looked at them and smile brightly at them, all their worries washed away. As the dust washing off the road with the rain.
So she prayed. She prayed smiling because she believed in a better future for each and all.
*hahh... huh..ah..*
The soldier she was healing woke up coughing and disoriented. Saeli gave him a few seconds and asked with her genuinely soft smile, "How are you feeling? I healed you completely but if it hurts somewhere please let me know okay?"
The soldier saw the blood covered face and her smile at the same time. "I'm fine, thank you very much, I just can't express my gratitu- grati-gra... hawww" Just seeing her genuine, untainted smile, the soldier broke into tears.
He didn't know why her face was covered in blood or why her cloths did too. But he did know that was the smile of someone who was genuinely happy to help, which was very rare on this day and age. His own parents sold him when he was 7 years old so that they could get smuggled through the Kadushaya border.
Just the knowledge that there exist someone like her in a world with monsters like his parents, was more than enough to forgot the pain and despair of losing both his legs and to go into the battlefield once again.
[09:49]
After everybody was done getting treated they were sent to thier respective positions. And the dead were taken underground which will be then blessed and cleansed by the AllCathedral and sent off according to thier religion if possible.
Most priests and priestesses were sent off early due to exhaustion but the most exhausted person, Saeli remained until everyone was gone.
She faced the god statues lined up from the entrance all the way up to the halls end and knelt. Bringing her hands together, Saeli quietly started praying. At the end of the hall, in the middle was a single statue separated from the others. As a king sitting in a throne while his subordinates standing beside, arranged in two lines.
"Oh god, please give me the strength and ability to keep helping everyone until the end of my days."
As her prayer finished she stood up and got ready to leave. Mumbling to herself many things among her very recent purchase.
"Ahh...I hope my little nephew likes his present... ah can't wait...."
*DING DONG, DING DONG*
Yet, as she was just a step away from the AllsCathedral's door, all ready to leave, the bell rang. It didn't occur to her that she was going to leave. That she was going to rest. It didn't bother her. Saeli instinctively opened the doors only to be met by THG soldiers.
With a bright smile, Saeli inquired there necessities, the rushed feeling completely absent from her mind. And so, the soldier spoke.
"Excuse me priestess, we found these bodies in an accident site. We're been told to bring them here, can you please confirm" a newly joined soldier said. You could see by his emblem's lack of color that he hasn't been in THG for even a month. And above all, he didn't know Saeli. Because any soldier who has been in at least one battle knew, Saeli is a saint.
"Unfortunately they were all dead when we found em." Added the inexperienced solder.
"What a tragedy, please give me a moment until i call the AllCathedral, he handles all matters related to already passed aways" replied Saeli which in return the Soldier asked if he could bring them inside. Probably to go home as soon as possible, to which she agreed.
Saeli used the comms device provided by the AllsCathedral to contact the AllCathedral but he didn't answer. Even after multiple tries there wasn't any signs of answering. Even though Saeli knew he was underground, she couldn't go there. It was prohibited to anyone but the AllsCathedral.
As she was thinking what to do, the new soldier finished taking them inside. He had already put them into trolleys too. They were powered by an hover system used in the battlefield for easier transportation in uneven surfaces. He covered them and waited a few seconds.
But since the AllCathedral didn't seem to be responding, he approached Saeli and leaned to ask something. But only then, did he see Saeli's eyes. Mesmerized, he struggled to ask his original question but with the help of her smile, he powered through.
"C-could you co-confirm the bodies, we, we have thier data h-here, please?"
While Saeli haven't done it before and it was a job exclusive for the AllCathedral, she also felt guilty making him wait so she agreed.
The rookie soldier then took off the covers and began to name the corpses. "From right to left we have Pilot of Inflyer, Ma-" Before he could finish, his supervisor came after parking the vehicle only to see a catastrophic event unfolding right before her eyes.
"YOU STUPID IDIOT, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!! SHE IS HIS SISTER!!!" The supervisor screamed but it was too late.
"Big bro.... hey big bro... what are you doing there....wake up...wake up... this isn't funny you know... big bro??? Saeli mumbled with an almost unhearable voice. Her voice was shaking. Yet she did her best to form complete words. Because she feared if she didn't, her brother wouldn't be able to understand her. But it was too late.
Among the bodies which were brought to the AllsCathedral, Magalt's body was one of them.
All the bodies were severely burned and bruised and most had missing limbs. In Magalt's case, his left arm and left leg was missing. The signs most likely indicated a series of explosions caused the disaster unfolding before Saeli's eyes.
His face was entirely unrecognizable. The left side of the face had bones extruding from the skin. Or rather the skin, alongside blood and flesh, had all melted and attached to the bones. His right side was doing a little better. It was only completely charred into a black crisp. The vibrant green hair he had was no more.
"WAKE UP!!!!"
" WAKE UP YOU BIG DONKEY!!! THIS ISN'T FUNNY!!! WAKE UP!!! WAKE UP DAMMIT!!!"
"WHY WON'T YOU LISTEN TO ME!!! I SAID TO WAKE UP!!! Pleaseee.... please listen to me and wake up big bro......."
Tugging on her brother's burned corpse, she screamed until red drops dripped into Magalt's charred corpse. Like rose on a black canvas.
"Big bro.... what happened to you... why are you not responding...big bro it's me, is your little sister, Saeli... Please open your eyes big bro... please... I'm begging you... open...your....eyes...please...AHHHhhhh....."
Saeli's screams turned into low rugged pleads. With tears flowing down her reddened face, she cried and cried but no answer came.
Unable to witness the saintesse's devastation, and since as soldiers, they didn't exactly triumph in consolations, both the soldiers decided to wait outside, giving Saeli space to despair in peace. Yet her despair didn't last long.
She put her hands together, intertwined her fingers and started praying as hard as she could. She didn't knew the concepts of healing magic. So she didn't know how to control it. Or how to strengthen it. She only knew that when she prayed, she could heal others. So she prayed. The backlash depended on time. The more she prayed, the more it was taxing to her body. Which is why she didn't over do it. Yet it didn't matter now.
She looked at Magalt and said with a pained expression. But there was a soft smile on her face full of tears.
"I'm sorry big bro, I'm going to break our promise....."
