Chapter 3: My Dreams are Nightmares, but my Life is a Dream

“Where am I?” I asked myself while observing the area. I saw a white light in the distance saying, "Your home son." “The light had a humanoid shape which resembles a man, I assume,” I muttered to myself. “Who is that? Why are we here?” I curiously asked. "We're in the place where everyone comes before they are judged before Exodus." The light answered. “What are you talking about I can't die? My body is capable of regenerating from just a tiny drop of blood. It's impossible but I want to know who are you and why are we really here for?” The light starts to dime slightly and said, "Then I'll tell you, my child. I'm here to tell you about what the doctor did to you. He turned you into something, which no one should be." “And what is that?” I asked. "A demon." It replied. I was dazed from his response. So, I asked, “What do you mean? And why are you referred to me as ‘my child’?” "Don't you remember my name, Gus Kenworthy or should I call you Crow? The name in which he forced into your mind?" It spoke. “Gus Kenworthy? Is that my name? Wait... Are you, my father?” I curiously asked. "Yes, it's a name your mother made up. I wanted another name for you... but I couldn't find a perfect name for you." My father said. “Gus sounds like a nice name. I like it and how was mother like... Father?" “She was a beautiful woman… Gus however, she died giving birth to you. I was the one taking care of you until you were thirteen years old until I became ill." He stated. “I don't remember any of this but my question is why. Why are you here alone with me and not with her talking to me?” I answered with sadness over coming me. "Isn't it because I was chosen to be here with you. She had her time watching over you before I passed but what do you remember?" he asked while smiling. “I can only remember the time when I was walking through FN Hatena D5 and I saw a poster saying recruiting soldiers! I then continued reading the poster and I was very interested in it because it paid a lot and I really needed the money for something but it wasn't too clear. So, the next day I woke up and I followed the instructions on where to go and what time to get there. I then notice it was a military base owned by Nemesis.” I said to him while looking down at the white empty floor. "Then what happen?" my father asked. I answered saying, “We were then gathered together then tested on. They say these injections were essential for us to survive the after effects of the new weapons Father Hatena been using on the Battle of Mars and Neptune. They say it was so toxic. Therefore, the planet had to be cleansed by a Dimensional Field and changed with other equipment.” "What else happen?" he asked again. I then remember most of what had happen my eyes widen after knowing the fact, “I watched my comrades die during the testing progress. They just laughed as we all die slowly from the training. If we wanted to quit, we will be executed right there on the spot... Like the others... Then our bodies will be shipped to the other side of the base. I never saw the other side of the base but all I knew back then. Whatever was over there it was very evil, extremely evil.” My father then lows his head. I sensed sympathy. He then asked, "And who were your comrades?" “Private Mark Weathermen, Private Franklin Meres, Petty Officer John Philler and me, Private Gus Kenworthy... I remember now!” I spoke. "So, can you tell me? What my name is now?" he asked. “Yes, I can… your name is...  /Wakes up from his dream, inside of Dr. Kazimin’s lab. The same lab where he was first tested on/ "Never forget Crow. Who you were as a person? I just wish I could have seen you all grown up." Said my father in my head as his voice echoes throughout my mind. /Wakes up standing over a dead body/ “Who is this?” I asked myself /I took up what it seems to be his name tag, which I found in the deceased doctor's lab coat/ “Mr. Kenworthy? Wait a minute, NO! IT COULDN’T BE!” I shouted. “Yes, he was the one that helped you escape last time Crow. I glad you too finally met.” Said Dr. Kazimin as he walks around Crow. After seeing Kazimin I lashed out in anger saying, “What have you done to him, Kazimin?!” “I simply gave him what he wanted… basically.” He answered. “Don’t piss me off Kazimin. I will kill you!” I said to him as I pointed to his direction. “You can’t because you are still here.” He said. “What do you mean I am still here?” “You will find out… or not. You did fail that intelligence test.” He said as he covers behind the glass wall. “Don’t FUCK with me Kazimin. I am Sick of your mind GAMES! Stop putting thoughts into my head! I know that I did not have a father and NOW I do!?” I shouted with mixed emotions. “So, you don’t believe that he was your father?” he asked. (“So, you don’t believe… that I was your father, Gus Kenworthy?” my father said in my head as he appears behind me.”) “Yes and no, I don’t believe you are my father. I still believe this is one of Dr. Kazimin’s illusions or mind control tricks and I am not falling for them.” I ignorantly said. “Gus…” “Don’t call me some fake name you made up to trick me!” I shouted as I interrupted him. “I see then since you do not believe Me.” my father said as he pulls a top out of his pocket. “Spin this on the ground to release you from Dr. Kazimin’s Illusion,” He said. /I then did what he said and spun the top on the ground/ “What to do now that, it's spinning?” I asked. "Patience, now watch the top. If the top falls you are in reality if it does not stop you are in another form of reality." He said as we both watched it. “It's not stopping. So, I was right I am under one of Kazimin's control.” "Yes, you are however I am here to pull you out of this coma you are in," he replied. What? Am I in a coma? "Yes, for quite some time. Your friends have also been busy over the past three months. Do, you want to see?" he said. “Yes, but first get me out of Dr. Kazimin control because I truly believe if you were my father you, would have helped your own son get out of this already.” "Yes, a true father would have but you're not under Dr. Kazimin's control, you undermine." “My father said as he walks into a bright shining light. What is going on here?” "Are you sure you want to follow him Crow or stay here and kill me?" asked Dr. Kazimin as he rocks in his chair. /I shrugged and followed him through the light and ended up on a mountain that was close to the FN-HQ’s Military base it seemed/ “I wonder if I’m free?” /I then take out the top to test to see if I was truly free but I saw Alice/ Alice?! Is that you?! /I then ran down the Steep Mountain/ “Alice, It’s me Crow!” I shouted. /Jumps over the fence and run up too Alice/ “I wonder why can’t she hear me. Must be because of the aircraft carriers around making her deaf.” I said to myself. /Reaches out to grab her and my hand phases through her/ “What the fuck? Did I just phase through her like how S4 does?” /Tries grabbing her again and phases through her again/ “Am I still under Kazimin’s control or am I really dead?” I asked myself with a face filled with shock. "You're not dead. You're in another plane of existence." My father said as he walks by me. “What have you done to me?” I asked him. "I am just showing you what your friends are up to… Don't you wish to know what's happening to your friends over the months you missed out?" he said while he folds his arms. I answered quickly with, “Yes, I do but I want to know what's going on now.” "That's a rhetorical question. The question you should have been asking is; Why, did I bring you here and why I'm so worried about your friends?" He suggested. “Well, I was getting to that but I do want to know what's up with my friends because they are the only ones that accepted me for who I was back then and still accepts me for who I am now.” "Good, then do you want to view Alice... or wake up?" he asked. “I wish to view Alice some more. I want to see what she been up too.” I replied. I then had this thought/plan in my head, “If I am right, he picked her first for a reason. So, I'll play along until I find some pointers.” "Your friend, Alice Yamada here. Has become a Staff Sergeant at SHUNNF, she is now going to lead a platoon into a fight on Neptune and this shall be her first mission on another planet and it's going to be one of the bloodiest battles of her life." He stated. “How do you know that? And how you know where she is going?” I asked curiously. "As I said before I am your father and I have watched you for quite some time." He replied. “So, that makes you a stalker, not my father.” I said with a smirk. “But then again, I would have sensed his presentence however I can never sense S4's presences even when he is right by me. So, I really do wonder. Am I still under one of Kazimin's tricks or am I really just soul searching with my lost father?” I asked myself. “What's in that sealed box over there?” I asked my father. "It's Alice's daughters." He said as we followed the box. “How can that be Alice's daughters? Aren’t they hospitalized and not sealed within a box of metal?” "Do, you wish to fast forward to the battle or do you want to stay for the ride?" he asked. “Yeah, jump to the battle. I want to see if Alice made it out alive.” I said as I looked as Alice boarding the ship. "As you wish." He said as he spawned a portal in front of us. "Right this way." He said pointing to the portal. /We then entered the portal. We were now on Neptune. The place where SHUNNF had its bloodiest of battles/ “How could that be? They had advanced technology beyond Nemesis! So, how can Nemesis hold them back? If they only have clones and robots?” I asked constantly as they linger around in my thoughts. "When we get there, you shall see." He replied. “I then watched as they traveled to space. Now I watch the hell that's about to break loose.”

"Commander John Braton, 501st, 320th and 2nd platoon is here from Earth." Said Commander Rei. "Thanks for the intel, Commander Rei. I'm here with 101st and 502nd. We are the location on the southern hemisphere of Neptune, heading to Eastern hemisphere. Nemesis is located at the North, south and east hemisphere of this planet. It's time to drive them out of this place because whatever they are farming here is not good. From what our reports say." Replied Commander John over the radio. "Last time I check they were working on a type of sniper, which will be able to pierce anything in its path. Judging from the places Nemesis are harboring these materials means they can get it done without notifying Father DSI or other Fathers." She replied. "Or maybe that's what they want us to think." He replied. "What are you implying?" she asked. "They haven't notified a Father or their head of command. Sounds fishy or they just didn't want to point fingers. But whatever it is the case will be worked out after this." Commander John said as his convoy comes to a halt. "I see... I just got word there is something heading your way, John! Keep an eye open! It has already destroyed Squad 5 and 7. It's Pro...J (connection ended)" said Commander Rei before her line was cut short. /Explosion occurred/ "Commander! One of our Vehicles was just hit but something coming from the left side of the mountain ahead of us!" shouted Captain Filler over the radio. "How many wounded?" he asked. "Two dead and five injured, Sir!" Captain Filler replied. "Alright get the injured and what's left of the dead into the Medic vehicles. Captain Alice, needs to hurry up and get those supplies to Commander Rei and for us. Sergeant Poland, get my weapons for me, get your men to haul ass and get that vehicle out of our way. We have to keep moving." Said, Commander John, as he puts on his helmet. "But? Sir? We are carrying a lot of wounded most of the stuff we have can't secure a stable port here." Sergeant Poland replied with a concerned looked on his face. "It's an order, not a question, Poland." He replied as he left the vehicle. /Commander John looked at the hill, where the shot was supposedly shot from/ "Commander, don't forget this." Said Sergeant Poland as he throws his weapon at him. "Thanks." He replied as he catches it. "So, what are you going to do until Sergeant Alice comes?" asked Sergeant Poland. "I'm going to check where that shot came from. I'm gonna need three soldiers." He said while thinking. "I think I have a few people, who will be willing to come with you." Replied Sergeant Poland as he looks around at the other soldiers. "So, who are these three fellow men of yours?" asked Commander John as he waits patiently. "Captain Arose, Sergeant Fisher, and Private Carl come here for a second!" shouted Sergeant Poland. "Commander John, a word with you please." Said Staff Sergeant Maya Palmer as she walks out of her vehicle. "Give me a moment you three. /Turns to Sergeant Maya and walks a few feet from the others/. What is it, Sergeant?” he asked while looking at her. “We have zero communication and as you know we are mostly carrying wounded. We can’t risk sending anyone outside this perimeter. I think we should hold off until Staff Sergeant Alice reaches our location.” Staff Sergeant Maya stated. “We don’t have time! If we stay here, we are going to die.” Commander John said in anger. “Commander! This is out of line! We can’t just go wasting our time and my comrades for just a sector of the planet!” Staff Sergeant Maya replied. “Listen to me, Maya Palmer. You’re clearly out of line for not listening to my orders.” He stated as he steps away from her. “Yes, sir. Sorry for my behavior,” She said. “Good! /Points at Private Carl/. You get the supplies and a few gears for us. Captain Arose, I want you to get some weapons and Sergeant Fisher, you and I will head up there, first while the others get their things together. /Points to the mountain/. Where the shot was said to have come from.” Said Commander John. “Yes, Sir.” They replied as they followed his orders. “Are you sure this is a good idea? If you’re gone who will be in command?” asked Staff Sergeant Maya. “I’ll leave that too Sergeant Poland here. I hope you two can get along nicely,” He said. /Staff Sergeant Maya looked at Sergeant Poland then shrugged/ "I guess we can work things out," She said. "Good, let's go Fisher." Said, Commander John, as they ran to the mountains. "Yes, sir." Replied Sergeant Fisher as he followed him. "How long is Alice going take to get here?" asked Staff Sergeant Maya. "She said she'll be here in five minutes or more." Sergeant Poland said as he looked into Staff Sergeant Maya's eyes with a straight face. "It's already been over five minutes... /folds arms/. She needs to get her ass over here.” She said as she walks away. “I wonder why he looked at me like that. Does he think I like him?” Staff Sergeant Maya said to herself as she slightly turns around then looked forward. “Maybe he is just teasing me.” She said as she walks away.

“Commander, look at this,” Sergeant Fisher pointed out, holding a 56. Caliber round shell casing. “Is that a 56 Caliber round shell from a plasma rifle?” he asked. “Yeah, whoever shot it made no noise and left without a trace which is interesting,” He analyzed. “You’re right and we are at least one thousand meters away from the site. How can someone has shot from approximately one mile on Neptune?” Commander John asked with a slightly shocked face. “Let me see that round, Fisher,” said Private Carl as he stretched his hand out. “It’s Sergeant… Fisher, Private Carl… learn some respect why don’t you.” Fisher vocalized as he threw the empty shell to him. “This is a laser round and it is a 56 Caliber round in size, but the vehicles were extremely damage compare to a normal rifle. So, this has to be one powerful rifle,” Carl stated. “Powerful rifle? (Flashback of what Commander Rei told him). Could it be?” murmured Commander John as he speculates from what Commander Rei told him previously. “What is it? Is there some type of new weapon, sir?” asked Sergeant Fisher. “I’m afraid so, Fisher,” He replied as he shifted towards him with concern. “How far you think the bugger made it?” asked Captain Arose as he looked around. “Not too far. I’m sure. I think after testing it so well, they will want to hit something bigger,” Commander John implied. “Come in Commander Jo… H… n! There is an Ice storm in your area!” said Staff Sergeant Maya on the communication line. “We’ll be heading back soon, Maya. Is Alice there yet?” he asked. “No, sir. No sign of Sergeant Alice.” She replied. “Alright, continue looking out for her and give me any info on anything that happens there, until I get back,” He commanded. “Right away, Sir,” She said before disconnecting. “I have a bad feeling out here though,” Private Carl worried. “Why you say that Private?” questioned Captain Arose. “I mean there is a…” said Private Carl before he was shot in the chest by a laser. “Get down!” shouted Commander John as he hit the deck. “Fuck! Where did that shot come from?” asked Sergeant Fisher. “I didn’t even see where it came from,” Commander John said while peaking. “I have an idea,” suggested Captain Arose. /He takes out his mirror and shine it in an angle to see where the enemy was/ “Anything?” asked Commander John to Captain Arose. “No, but whoever that was had a clear shot to hit Private Carl. Is he even alive?” he said as he takes more cover. “I’m setting up a Field!” shouted Sergeant Fisher as he tosses out an Advance Anti- Laser Shield. “I’m going to check on Private Carl. You two watch for where that shot is going to come from,” commanded Commander John as he crawled over to Private Carl’s body. /Commander John then checks for his pulse/ “He is breathing! Carl! Look at me! You need to hold on. Just for a little longer,” He pleaded to him. “Commander, I can’t move my legs. I can only move my head; my arms and my insides feel very weird,” He stated. “Shit! /Tries to radio in the convoy/. Staff Sergeant Maya, send a Medivac fast! Are you there, Maya?” shouted Commander John over the radio. /Ship flies over head/ “Commander! Look!” shouted Captain Arose. “Alice?” he said to himself. /Ship then turns around to them/ "Active the Field. I'm going out!" Alice said as she jumped out of the ship and a few men followed her. "Where have you been?!" shouted Commander John. "There was an Ice storm that was to have come by now?" she replied. "Wait? Who told you that?" he asked, spuriously. "Sergeant Poland, isn't he in charge since you left?" she asked. "Yeah, but that was just a few minutes ago." He replied. "But it was reported in the last twenty-five minutes ago." She stated. "Anyway, we will deal with the fake weather report but help me get Private Carl some attention. He is seriously injured." Commander John stated. "I wonder if weathermen in Poland, are trouble lies?" asked my father to himself. “What do you mean?” I asked. "I'll tell you when you are older just watch and you will see," he replied. "Where did the shot came from?" Alice asked as she presses around his body. "Not sure. The shot hit him directly in his spinal cord it seems. He told me he can't feel his legs and his insides are hurting," He stated. "He is not responding though. Captain Flair! Drop a Medic Kit!" Alice shouted to the ship. "I got you Captain!" he replied and dropped a Medic kit right by them. "Captain Flair! Get the other supply ship to the convoy and let's move out!" shouted Commander John as he watches Alice give CPR to Private Carl repeatedly. "Commander, the convoy is not responding to the signals." Said Captain Arose while tweaking the radio waves. "What!?" shouted Commander John in confusion. "Captain Flair! I want you to fly over there and signal the convoy that help has arrived!" he said. "I got you commander!" he replied as he flew off to the convoy /At the Convoy/ “Why has Commander John not reported back to me yet?” Staff Sergeant Maya said to herself as she walks around the vehicle that was hit by the unknown rifle. “Alright! Let’s get the convoy moving!” shouted Sergeant Poland. “Why are we moving? We were told to make a secure perimeter until Commander John comes back.” She stated. “Did he leave you in charge?” he asked with a smirk. “I wish he put me in charge to whop your ass. You snobby Bastard!” she replied angrily. “Last time I checked. Commander John told me on the radio to continue without him because they are going to be our recon until we reach the checkpoint. So, by then he will shoot a flare when he arrives at that location.” He said while giving commands to the other soldiers. /White Flare was then shot into the air/ "And there is our Q. Let's go people!" Sergeant Poland shouted as he jumped onto a vehicle and drove off, leaving Staff Sergeant Maya behind. "Fine then. Hold the phone… my communications were disabled? I wonder?" she said to herself as she watches the convoy leave. "Don't you want a lift, Staff Sergeant Maya?" asked Petty Officer Aerial as he looks out his vehicle. "Sure, I'll bum a lift. First I want you to tell me something." She said as she jumps on to the vehicle close to Shiny Roger Brown. "What is it?" he asked as they drove off. "Did Commander John called here and told everyone to continue moving to the checkpoint in which he and the other soldiers going to do?" she asked curiously. "No, I don't know about that. I know that Sergeant Poland said so. I didn't hear that over the radio but he is in charge so." He replied as he shrugged. "Maybe the Commander is planning something for the unknown shooter." Stated Shiny Roger. "This does not concern you Shiny. However, you do make a point but something feels off, because why are heading to the waterways and not the ice part?" she asked herself. "Then again. Wasn't there to be an ice storming incoming soon? So, isn't the waterways a better opinion than turning into ice?" answered Shiny Roger. "You're out of line talking. When there are two officers talking." Stated Staff Sergeant Maya with her eyes closed. "Didn't you hear? You're getting demoted for not responding to Commander John's call before we left." He replied. "What? My device is disabled! What are you talking about me getting demoted?" she replied. "I think he is right. Sergeant Poland did say so. When I overheard him talking to someone over his personal com.” Stated Petty Officer Aerial. "Hold on. Sergeant Poland said that?" she said. "Yeah, a few minutes before he gave the order to leave the secured perimeter, however, it's odd he said we should stay here no matter what and he turned it around." Petty Officer Aerial said. "That's how Commanders get their men killed just like Commander Rei. I heard both, Commander John and Rei are tied for the number of soldiers killed under their command." Stated Private Richard L. Adair. "I know that but Commander John don't like putting his men in danger like the others." Stated Staff Sergeant Maya. "Anyone know when or how Sergeant Poland reached his rank?" asked Shiny Roger. "In the Battle for Mars. He helped and saved his squad from Admiral Umbrella and that's where Commander John gained his majority deaths. Wait, a minute! That's the battle where John got his loses." Said Staff Sergeant Maya. "What are you getting at?" asked Private Richard. "Sergeant Poland's squad, vanished after the battle of Mars and no one has records of them." She said. "I see where she is coming from." Said Shiny Roger. "So, you're trying to convinces us that. Sergeant Poland of all people is trying to get us killed?" asked Petty Officer Aerial as he looks at Sergeant Poland's Vehicle in front as they turned. "Yes, I also believe he is working with Nemesis." She replied. "I still don't believe since you h... ate." Said Petty Officer Aerial before their vehicle was hit with a rocket. /At the mountain where Commander John and Alice was/ "Commander John, there is smoke coming from that area." Said Captain Arose as he points to the location. "Yes, and it's like approximately two or five miles away from where the convoy was." He replied as he looks at Alice and the other soldiers help Private Carl stay alive. "Commander John! The Convoy is here at the location you left them but there are no signs of the soldiers!" shouted Captain Flair over the radio. "What?! That means... is Sergeant Poland there?" he asked. "No, sign no one but the Vehicles are here." Captain Flair stated as he turns the ship around and headed back to Commander John's location. "Commander, do you think that smoke we saw?" said Captain Arose. "I'm thinking it's an illusion!" stated Sergeant Fisher. "You could be right. However, Sergeant Fisher? Why you think that?" asked Commander John. "Our convoy was hit by a laser rifle that's a 56 round, but yet the user is no were to be found. Then he shots Private Carl from the same location where I saw when he shot the vehicles." He stated. "Hmm... Just don't make sense. If it was an illusion. Captain Flair would have known since the ship come with advance visual adapters." Replied Commander John. "This isn't the first time our equipment failed John. Do you remember that weather report?" said Alice as she walks over to them. "Hmph... Don't remind me. How is Carl?" he asked. "He might make it but whoever shot him might have hesitated." She stated. "How is that? They shot him straight in his chest?" asked Sergeant Fisher. "Yes, however, to hit the spine and not hit the heart exactly is odd. This sniper or person has great marksmen ship. What I don't get is where that smoke is coming from, if the convoy is there." Said Alice. "Wait a minute! The convoy was in the West, South West right?" asked Sergeant Fisher as he noticed something off. "Yes, it was. That's where we came from." Replied Captain Arose. "Yet, the ship headed to North West and saw the convoy." He said as he points at the location it went. "Not again, it can't be." Said Commander John to himself. "So, this means the convoy is over there where the smoke is coming from, right?" assumed Alice. "Yes, which means someone has been fooling us since the beginning." Stated Commander John as he shakes his head in disappointment. "Who you think it was? Do you think it was Sergeant Poland?" asked Alice as she turns to John. "I'm afraid so since he gave us false information about the weather and took my convoy in harms danger. It's like he is trying to relive what happened on Mars." John said as he placed his hand on his head. "What did really happen on Mar? I know you got over five hundred plus lost in that battle to claim a spot-on Mars but Sergeant Poland saved his squad from your mistake. If I can recall correctly." Stated Captain Arose. "Yes, I got five hundred and sixty-nine men killed in that battle, however, I took full responsibility for it even though it was not my ideal plan." Commander John replied as his right hand balled up into a fist and he squashed. "What you mean?" asked Alice. "Sergeant Poland insisted we head in a location that will lead to Checkpoint C faster since he been on this run before with his squad for recon. Since I know he is great in battle and his tactics are very impressive and accurate I took his lead. After walking my men through that death trap. I lost a lot of important people. I even lost Commander Lee S. Pattern, one of my colleges." He said with a tear running down his cheek. "Sorry to hear that... Commander." Replied Sergeant Fisher as he bows his head down. "So, it was Sergeant Poland's fault. Why didn't you tell Father Hatena this than you taking the blame?" asked Captain Arose as he walked up to John. "Because it was my decision and my stupid mistake to trust in a traitor like Poland and even if, I accused him of that. He would have won since his whole squad was nowhere to be found after that battle!" shouted Commander John as he lifted up Captain Arose off the ground. "Then we should kill that bastard for what he has done to you and the others that died for him sorry ass." Stated Alice as he rests her hand on Commander John shoulder. /Commander John puts down Captain Arose/ “Sorry about that, Captain Arose. I got out of control.” He said as he dusts off Captain Arose chest. “It’s okay Commander. We all do have our moments but I really do believe. At this moment Sergeant Poland is going to lead our convoy in hell and will blame you for this.” Captain Arose stated. “I agree.” Said Alice and later followed by Sergeant Fisher. “Alice, how many airships you bring when you got here?” asked Commander John. “I bought around five airships, ten gunships, and two carriers. Why you ask?” she replied. “When your personal airship gets back, we are heading to that smoke cloud,” He said. /They then waited until the ship came back and jumped in it and flew to the scene/

/My father and I looked over the battlefield where Nemesis and SHUNNF battled constantly/ “I don't see the point in this... when I look at their perspective,” I said. "Oh really? So, why do you fight with them?" my father asked as he looks at me. “Because it's the only way to protect others.” I replied. "So, is it just to protect yourself or just for pleasure?" he angrily asked as he stare became even colder. “What you are asking is quite irrelevant. I see your point in this being a bloody war, people betraying one another but this is ridiculous.” I stated.
