The sudden disaster shattered the peace Themyscira had enjoyed for countless years.

Anger, grief, and confusion appeared on face after face. The warriors from the beach were brought back by the guards and treated alongside the other injured. Amazons helped one another, rescued one another, and the entire island sank into a heavy, suffocating sorrow.

At the entrance to the Amazon palace, several guards stood in the great hall.

Menalippe gripped her weapon, her face grim as she stared at Damon sitting high on the throne. With the hostages in his hands, she did not dare move.

A low groan came from beneath the throne.

Diana slowly woke.

The armor she had been wearing had been destroyed in the battle and the dragging that followed. Dirt smeared her body, leaving her in a miserable state. When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the blue lightning binding her.

Then she saw her mother and Antiope bound the same way.

"Mother. Antiope."

Diana tried to break free in fury, but the lightning chains flared brighter.

The next moment, a scream tore from her throat. She collapsed to the floor, twitching helplessly.

"Ares. I will kill you."

Diana forced her head up and glared at Damon on the throne.

Ares?

He was Ares, the god of war?

Menalippe and the others stared at Damon in shock. Every Amazon knew the history between Themyscira and Ares.

Damon looked at Diana's furious eyes and explained with a pleasant expression.

"I am not that old man Ares. My name is Damon Keller. I crossed through time from the future. A group calling themselves the Legends decided I had changed history, so they dropped me here while they went off to repair the so-called mistake and put history back on its original course."

"The Legends? Time travel? From the future?"

Diana stared at the man calling himself Damon Keller, momentarily unable to process it.

"Lies!"

Menalippe shouted.

"Ares is best known for twisting people with lies."

Damon looked at her as if her brain had failed and her subscription needed renewing.

"Every breath you and your people take right now comes from my mercy. What use would I have for lying to you?"

Menalippe snorted.

"Even if you are not Ares, you are still Themyscira's enemy."

"So you are emphasizing that we are enemies and reminding me that I should wipe out every enemy in front of me?"

Damon smiled as he asked.

Menalippe froze.

That was not what she had meant.

"To be honest, I like Themyscira," Damon said. "I would have enjoyed experiencing its customs and scenery. Before the Legends return to pick me up, I might have played around a little and treated it like a vacation. Unfortunately, my first request was refused. That is why everything after it happened."

He looked at Diana with almost sincere regret.

"I did not kill everyone, and I did not destroy Themyscira. It may be unfair to ask, but if I release Antiope and your mother for treatment and stop killing anyone else on the island, will you forgive me?"

"No," Diana said coldly. "I will never forgive you for the disaster you brought to Themyscira."

"That is a shame."

Damon sighed, then crooked his finger.

The lightning chains around Diana lifted her into the air and forced her down on her knees in front of him.

"Sorry. When you stand, you are rather tall, and looking up at you while we talk is tiring. You will have to kneel for now. Since you will not forgive me, I suppose I can only go deeper and deeper into the role of your enemy."

His smile thinned.

"I am formally informing all of you that from this moment on, you are my slaves. If one person disobeys, if one person resists, I will kill all of you and destroy Themyscira."

"Do you understand?"

As his question fell, immense divine power erupted from him.

Thunder roared.

Divine force churned.

The pressure drove Menalippe and the others backward. Their bodies gave way against their will, forcing them to their knees.

"You... wish..."

Diana, who bore the full weight of that pressure, fought to rise. Her muscles tightened. Her eyes remained unbroken. In that moment, the divine power hidden inside her burst awake.

Golden light instantly filled the space around her. The strength that surged through her stunned Diana for half a breath, and then joy flashed across her face.

She planted her feet hard against the floor and forced her knees upward inch by inch. With a hoarse shout, she drove all her power into one strike and punched at Damon.

Boom.

Golden light blazed. The collision of two divine powers exploded outward.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

Menalippe and the guards were thrown through the air and crashed to the ground.

Then came a deeper roar.

The palace collapsed.

Stone from the ceiling rained down, but before it could strike them, the force of the two powers ground it into dust.

In the ruins, Damon held Diana's fist and smiled at the disbelief on her face. His arm suddenly trembled, and divine power several times stronger than hers swept out.

Whoosh.

Diana shot away like a cannon shell.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

Her body smashed through walls and trees until, with a final splash, she plunged into the sea.
