Chapter 25:
Kesel
Immediately when I performed the technique, we ascended to the top, but around 30 meters above the ship, I turned the direction and started to fall, and when turning the rotation downward, we headed towards the side of the ship.
Then, using the tornado technique, we moved in the air around the ship above it.
"What are you going to do?!" Megan shouted.
"At some point, Klaus and Annie intend to run away taking Wini; when they do, we have to stop them."
"So that was your plan?" said Megan.
"Yes," I replied.
"Why didn’t you say so?"
"I don’t know Klaus’s Ability level. He could be nearby, so I thought it best to make everything look like he was in control."
"I got it, now what?"
"Let’s wait for them to try to leave."
At that moment, I saw, in a rotation above, them trying to get out by the left side of the ship. Then I saw a big fish opening its mouth below, and Annie holding Wini by the arm on Klaus’s side, jumping.
She didn’t react? Why is Wini so passive? Did they convince her, blackmail her? Or did they use an ability on her? Well, never mind, it’s now. I have to act.
"They will jump!" said Megan.
I went towards them. The peak of the tornado technique was descending directly toward them. I projected myself more in front of Brigid and Megan, so that I would stay more in front at the peak of the technique. So I split the tornado in two. The tornado technique accelerated and grew smaller and stronger. Brigid and Megan, unbalanced by the air currents of the technique, flew into the other tornado in opposite directions.
Klaus looked around, then moved his face up and saw me. Then soon, he threw Annie and Wini into the sea. I jumped towards them, projecting myself from the summit of the technique, catching speed and pushing Annie away and holding Wini by the arm, but the speed was too fast—the fish would swallow us both. I didn't have much I could do, so I turned my face away. And I adjusted by controlling the rotation of the technique with my hands towards Klaus, who was hopping desperately in our direction.
The tornado became smaller and stronger, and the summit hit Klaus hard, throwing him back into the ship and causing an explosion.
"Take this, you bastard!"
The fish swallowed me and Wini, but when I touched its tongue, my body rotated. I held Wini’s hand.
While I was still being swallowed, I saw that another large fish had also swallowed Megan and Brigid.
"Right, let’s get out of here." I threw myself out, but my energy then dissipated, and I lost control and hit my body on the side of the animal’s mouth and fell in sequence.
I tried to get up, but I couldn’t. The animal dived, and then I sat down, realizing that I couldn’t use my abilities.
"What does that mean?"
"Inside the animal, our abilities are nullified," said Wini. "Now we can do nothing but wait for it to lead us to our destination."
"What?"
"Will Mrs. Brigid and Megan be well?" she said, looking away.
"I removed the weight and speed of their fall. They will not suffer from the fall, but my ultimate goal was to rescue both as well."
Wini looked at me with a look of concern.
"Kesil, why were you so dismissive in your movements? It was dangerous."
"What are you talking about? I had to save you!"
"Save me? From what? Wasn’t it your plan to run away from here through the sea animals that Klaus controlled?"
I put my hand on my head. And laughed.
"I see, so they tricked you, right?"
"How so?"
"Assuming they still want to manipulate you…”
"What are you talking about?" she asked.
I looked at her and replied, "Klaus and Annie, they were not just your father’s workers. They were there to take you, they were infiltrators. I am almost 100% sure that they are from the group responsible for the attack on Uire."
She was flummoxed.
I looked around and, seeing pieces of objects, I saw a sword, caught it, swung it with force, and then put it in my sheath at my waist.
I looked at the seals that restricted and denied the use of abilities on top of the animal’s mouth.
Damn, there’s no way I can destroy that restraining seal from here.
I looked at her, sitting in the corner in shock.
Given Wini's current state, they probably invented a story about trying to save the prisoners and enslaved people from the boat through technique, using some excuse of any kind. Then, without me, Brigid and Megan out of the way, already at the final destination that this animal will take us to, they would probably make up that we died or something like that, and try to justify a plan that they have already started?
No, it doesn’t matter, I’m traveling too much on this theory. In any case, I have to settle on what to do when we get there, and where we’ll be.
I approached Wini, who with her hands kneeling on the ground, looked at me.
"Wini, listen, these people will probably need you, but just like Mora’s Empire, they’ll probably only use you. Don’t delude yourself with your excuses and ideas… People only want to use you because of your power."
"I know."
She seemed settled and sad.
"I know that the situation is bad. They will probably blackmail you, but you have to resist. If you sacrifice so much, it will only end your own life. I’ll help you; I’ll try to save Brigid and Megan, but I have to be honest: it won't be easy. The chances of me failing are high.
" I get it..."
"...So, do you still believe that your dream is possible? Those prisoners you helped might want war, helping the people who attacked Uire. The complete opposite of what you want to do."
She smiled at me confidently and said, "But of course!"
Great... She's still optimistic...
You are a being with a purity too radiant for this cursed world, it is simply a contrast to everything I have seen and experienced.
A true saint. If we truly have something of God in all of us, you're the kind of person whose light shines brightest.
"So what do we do? Brigid and Megan must be being taken to the same destination as us," she asked.
"So that’s where we fight... As you said before, in this situation we must not run away. We must face it, because if we keep avoiding it, the situation will only get worse for everyone."
"We don’t have the power to face all this, do we?"
"If we keep going, eventually. I’ll figure it out," I said.
"You’ve changed a little," she said, smiling.
"It’s... true," I replied.
"Kesil..."
"Huh?"
"What do you think they'll do now? When that whale reaches its destination?"
"Given how they've planned everything so far, you must be an important part of their plan. As I said before, they'll try to convince you to join them."
"I understood."
Right... At this point in the game, we have to stay and face the situation... But where are we being taken?
