Chapter 24:
Kesel
“My God, why precisely, Wini?” Brigid said, complaining.
“I don’t know for sure, probably for the same reason as Mora? I can’t say for sure,” I said.
“What are we going to do?” said Megan.
“We have to go save her,” said Megan. “Let’s go, Kesil.”
“No, that won’t work,” I said. “They probably must have planned it well. In this chaos, we’re hardly going to get it.”
“What do you mean? Then what will we do?” asked Megan in despair.
We are at a clear disadvantage here. Klaus is the type who uses the Connection Ability. Even if I have expelled him from my mind with my aura at that time, he is in control of the situation and can use information from anyone’s thoughts on the ship. Also, nothing indicates that he will not try to use the technique again on me, which takes a certain amount of time for me to realize.
Maybe the best thing is to make him think everything’s okay? Would that make him suspicious?
This type of ability isn't as rare as Wini's Imitation, but it's still quite rare...
And from what I can tell, his level of control is high.
NOTE: The Connection Ability, as mentioned above, allows the person to communicate with people with whom their aura comes into contact at a distance, being able to read minds or read movements; a user with training can interrupt this technique with some knowledge, expelling its own aura with that of the enemy who connected in it. However, this wastes energy and does not last long. Once ejected from a mind, it becomes more difficult to make the connection, but it is not impossible, depending on the user’s Ability combinations or technical level.
“The animals are different. They have metal plates on their bodies, and they are attacking the hull of the ship by hitting it!” one of the soldiers shouted.
So they’re using the animals to bring down the ship? No, not only that. The bombs deployed should be enough. These animals are being controlled by the Klaus Connection, correct? And I don't know about Annie's abilities...I need to come up with a strategy, but this is terrible... No matter what scenario I imagine, they know my abilities.... Ok, ok... I have to think of something. That’s assuming you don’t have any more enemies… No, they haven’t decayed anyone else. We’re the only intruders here.
Are we the intruders? Wait…
“Stay close to me… Let’s hide!” I said. “We’ll be attacked soon.”
I pulled them by the hands, then we ran. I pulled the sword and emitted my Numen.
Flames Flaminius!
Then I felt a warmth nearby, on my back, coming from the smoke.
He was the first man approaching, with a flaming sword clashing with my sword.
“You, one of you is controlling the animals according to our trackers.”
“Would you believe that we didn’t know he was an imposter?”
“That would be very convenient!” he replied.
As expected, they would soon find out that it was Klaus who was behind it. Since we are obviously the intruders on the ship, it is natural to think we were the enemy.
“I’m from Mora. If I was betraying you, why would I still be alive?”
“The contract? Well, you could be being convenient, right?”
“One of the girls has gone missing. She is Lady Winifred. She is considered of interest to Mora’s army. She possesses the Ability of ‘Imitation’, which may result in a possible combination, The Trialism, which may make her a Magus.”
“Are you making this up?”
“No, it’s true.”
“Why did you omit this information?”
“I thought it was safer… After all, we did not know the extent of what was happening in Uire.”
He was hesitant. That's good... He is considering the situation.
I backed down, put down my sword, and said, raising my arms, “Look, we won’t do anything. I’ll stay here if you want. You can put people to guard us, but please go after the impostors and save Lady Winifred.”
Soldiers approached, and he gave instructions to watch us.
The commander soon approached and heard what Flames Flaminius had heard from me.
“Are you sure that revealing this would be the best solution?” said Megan.
“Even if you rescue her, Wini’s life will be in danger,” said Brigid.
“Trust me,” I said, looking at the situation.
“Effusion!” I said.
I will continue to use the effusion now so as not to allow anyone to enter my mind. I doubt that there is anyone on this ship with the rare Ability of Connection, since it is only a slave transport ship, but I can't take any more risks of having my mind invaded. Of course, my energy will fade like that, but it is the only way. This Klaus is the type who plans everything, so I’ll have to improvise.
NOTE: Effusion, as the name already suggests, is a technique that expels the aura of your energy out of the body. It has also been used by the protagonist.
Klaus won’t know what I’ll do next, and he’d probably, at some point, see what I’ll do, but for now he can’t either.
Now it’s time to wait for the chance. Until they try to escape, at that moment I will act.
…
Still with raised arms, I waited. Valerius and Flaminius moved in opposite directions and broke the ground, heading towards the lower floors.
“They have dug holes in places where they had prisoners and enslaved people. All of them are jumping into the sea. Dozens! They are trying to escape.”
“We have to go help Commander Valerius and the first mate Flaminius control the rebellion. They are many, but still in chains!”
“If they run away, we’re dead.”
There were only two soldiers watching us. They were pointing their guns at us.
“This will sound silly,” I said. “ But hold my hands.”
Megan and Brigid, without completely understanding, did what I said.
“Right!” I said.
The soldiers keeping watch over us hesitated.
Now let’s go.
Air Ability! Area attack! Tornado!!!
