Chapter 37:
Kesel
Well....
Then it only remains to try this...
No problem... In the end, that’s what I really wanted to do...
I looked up and stared at the small slit of light in the small crevice that opened earlier in the sky.
"It seems that the moment when Mr. Bricius spoke... about my decision... has happened, and now is the final moment in which I confirm that choice..." I said.
I’m grateful that you believed in me...
Now we need to check a few details.
"What are you thinking, Kesil?" asked Wini.
"About saving the world," I said.
I looked at the fruits of Numen... twelve fell, and they still swayed between the colors... There were five more, and Wini was handling one with her aura before I arrived.
"These are purple and have a destructive aura..." I said, walking and approaching them.
"Yes," Wini replied. "It’s more suitable for the purpose of replicating the nuclear bomb on which they relied."
"I’m sorry that you had to be a part of this, Wini..."
She made a sad face.
"Don’t worry, it’s not your fault."
"From the little I know about you, I think you have an idea, right?" said Megan. "You already have a plan decided. So, what's the plan?"
" I'll destroy these things."
I approached from where Wini was handling the last great fruit of Numen. I saw stones with different sparkles near a stand.
"These are tiny fragments imbued with aura, 20 in total. I was using them to copy the abilities and handle the fruits, creating the conditions that made them become the kind of energy they wanted."
"Got it..." I’ve heard about that before... but this kind of thing is quite rare. It’s not cheap to get. Plus, finding a user of the Imitation type to do this... And they are practically non-existent because of the Mora Empire. Really, these people were very well prepared. And I can’t let Mora get hold of this.
Mother Ludlam, who did not move, she sat down on the floor and began to cry... Then she laughed in despair.
"You’re all idiots," she said, with her face. "How do you think you can destroy these things? Do you have any idea how much energy is inside these things? If Blodeuwedd can’t activate them, no one else can. We are lost. The Empire will get hold of these things. This world is doomed."
"I expected something like that... I just wanted to confirm a few more things," I said. "Wini, how many more fruits did they intend to create?"
"Five... With the limited time, they would probably leave the others here later to be destroyed in the explosion."
"So you would have more minutes to modify the nature of the energy fruit to that of the Numen type of destruction?"
"That's right, exactly."
"Why didn’t you start earlier?"
"The fruits needed more time. They were not yet ripe and in sufficient quantities... Besides, I spent a few more hours practicing on smaller replicas so that I wouldn’t make mistakes," said Wini.
"Why would you need more than those?"
"Five is not a sufficient number necessary to destroy the strategic sites that would cause the Empire to collapse," she said to Mother Ludlam. "If we had just five, 100% sure we would fail in our purpose."
"I understand." So they needed to buy time. That explains.
"And what will happen to those other twelve I pulled from the branches?"
"They are practically ripe. They will go to a kind of random ability," said Wini.
"How long?" I said.
"Four or five minutes at the most," Wini explained.
Right.... Now I need to think.... How will I do this? I need to think about how to act in the best way possible.
"Wini, Megan, Brigid... you have to get out of here."
"And you?" asked Megan.
"I will stay."
"And why? What are you going to do?" Megan asked.
"The only thing I can do," I said, looking at them. "It was fun. I’m really glad I met you..." I said with a melancholy smile.
"No way! What do you intend to do?" Wini said.
"To do something that would make me something I didn’t want to be in any way until two days ago: a hero," I said.
"How?" said Mother Ludlam. "What could someone like you do?"
"In my state, nothing..." I said... "But I’m still familiar with my kind of Ability, even though I’ve been cursed and can’t use my own energy. Nothing prevents me from using that."
Then I looked at the fruits of Numen with the energy of destruction, approached them, and said, "And this time, I will be able to borrow the use of an energy that is not naturally mine."
"No, you won’t do that!" Wini said desperately. "There’s got to be another way."
"If I make a small cut, how long do I have until that energy leaks and they explode..." I asked.
"No, you don’t need to do that!" said Wini in despair, being restrained by Megan.
"Wini... Please..." I said. "There is no other option..."
She then paralyzed me and then hugged me from behind, crying... I started crying...
"I’m sorry, I wish I could see how you would build your Garden of Eden, but I don’t think I can..."
"No... No... No..." She was desperate.
Even Megan and Brigid had tears in their eyes.
She let me go... and fell to her knees on the ground...
"How long?" I asked, with my back looking at the fruit of Numen.
"About 3 minutes..." she replied.
"Got it... I think there’s time," I said.
The only thing left for me is to do this, Wini. I’m sorry.
I cut off one of Numen’s great fruits of destruction that was on the ground with a basic sword cut, then the energy of destruction began to leak and spread.
I turned and looked at Wini on her knees, and then at Brigid, and Megan said:
"Please go! You need to live... to build what you, Wini, have turned into my dream too."
