Chapter 17:

The Dark Past

Secrets of Loenhess

//When they arrive at the warehouse Mika begins to drag the sister out of the van onto the cold hard cement floor. Mika cringes as the sister hits the floor.

Mika: Sorry about that

//Hana grabs the brother by his coat hood and flings him out of the van. Mika cringes again.

Hana: What? He’s fine, trust me he’s probably had worse before.

//They blindfold and tie the duo up to one of the iron pillars in the warehouse. They have removed their pants, sox and shoes and tied their feet to the pillar. Aiya comes walking back with two buckets of water.

Aiya: Mika, bring the van closer and get out the cables.

//Mika brings the van closer and hands the cables to Aiya. He is well aware that part of Aiya’s training in the Military was in interrogation techniques. He is also well aware from previous missions that she has used these skills in the past.

//Aiya unzips her bag. In it are tools used precisely for this moment…. She pauses and takes a deep breath.

Aiya: Thank you Mika… I know this isn’t your favorite part so it’s okay if you want to step outside.

Mika with his head hanging down: Yeah, I think that’s best.

//Mika heads outside head still down.

//Aiya looks at Hana who is now beginning to visibly sweat.

Aiya: It’s okay Sis, I’ve got this one.

Hana (gulps): Yeah, Yeah right. I just go and keep Mika company.

//Hana meets up with Mika just outside, but still in ear shot of Aiya just in case something goes awry.

//Mika has yet to look up but hears Hana coming.

Mika: It takes a terrible toll on her; the faces still haunt her to this day. She once explained to me it’s one thing taking out an armed and hostile enemy trying to kill you, but it’s another thing when you slowly and painstakingly torture a defenseless and bound individual to the point of near death. Of course, it always comes to that point.

Mika Sighs: But before it was duty, and this time it more personal, so I’m not sure just how far she will go.

//In the distance the two can hear the screams of the sister and then the brother, over and over again. This goes on for more than an hour.

//Eventually Aiya makes her way outside. she pauses and looks to the night sky. It’s a beautiful starry sky.

Aiya mumbles to herself: My day of reckoning will be sweet revenge for those souls as they drag me down into the depths.

//Aiya walks past Mika and Hana.

Aiya (not making eye contact): Go back to the office, I will meet you there.

Hana: Are you?...

Aiya stops and takes a deep breath: Please don’t ask…. The police are on their way to pick up what’s left of them, so we need to go. They won’t be harming anyone else ever again.

Hana: But won’t they?...

//Mika stops Hana.

Mika: If they are still alive it’s standard protocol that they won’t be able to see, speak or hear. They be fortunate to have their hands and feet. They will most likely spend the rest of their days in a prison cell, alone in total darkness and silence.

//Hana gulps and wipes the sweat from her forehead. Hana loosens the collar around her neck.

Hana: Remind me not to piss her off anymore.

//Hana and Mika get the van and head back to the office.

//Aiya is now kneeling down on top of the roof of the warehouse across the street. She is watching as the paramedic bring the brother and sister out on stretchers and put them in the ambulance. They are still alive.

Aiya: Tsk… who is really the wicked one here.

//She looks up to the sky.

Aiya: Can I really justify this Mom… Dad? Please tell me that I wasn’t wrong!

//Aiya begins to cries uncontrollably.

Aiya: Why? Why? Never again! That’s not me anymore!

//Aiya punches the short brick wall in front of her and small pieces of brick and cement fall to the ground.

//Just before that several police detectives at the scene are talking amongst each other. The lead detective looks at the pictures taken of the crime scene.

Lead Detective: Tsk, this is the work of a professional. This was no random torture, there was a purpose to this.

//just then the detective hears the rocks hit the ground and he immediately looks up to where Aiya was. But she is no longer there.
