Chapter 75:

The Reason Why He Fights

The Creature Hunter: Soul Of The Wind

The war was finally over.

All The Orwells were slaughtered, and the creatures were controlled by the Knights.

At the time, Tatsumi was carrying Nuzuki's head by pulling his hair.

He had on his shoulders the burden of responsibilities he carried all this time and bore the weariness of his soul.

He also still had his friends in mind. Maybe he was able to save them, but he couldn't stop thinking about the choices he made. "Maybe I could have done better,", "Maybe I should have done that, or this", "Or maybe I shouldn't have done this from the start."

But he then remembered the smile that her mother and his friends gave. Maybe he failed on something, but he was able to save many lives. And that was enough for him.

What had happened had already happened, and there was no way of turning back. So he finally put an end to these thoughts and continued to walk with the peace of the victory they have achieved.

And as he was walking, he heard someone talking,

"Are you going to carry me like that?"

It was Nuzuki's head and he was still alive.

At first, Orano got nervous and pointed his sword towards him.

But Nuzuki then said,

"Hey! Hey! Slow down. This is just a thing that my kind has. Even if our heads are cut off, we can live another three hours. I don't want to believe something stupid like that too, but it's true."

As he looked once more to where he headed, Orano slowly put Nuzuki's head down and started to walk away from there. He had put his head on the grass of the forest and was slowly getting away from there.

And this made Nuzuki very confused.

Even though he could just leave it on the floor, he carried him into the woods and put him there slowly. He thought about why would he do such a thing, but had no idea about his intention. He didn't know if it was a favor done to him or out of pity.

So he then asked curiously,

"Hey! Why did you put me here? Are you just going to treat me like trash you throw away?"

Orano was still angry, it was obvious from his look,

He then replied,

"The ice will melt and the lake will turn into its normal form after a while. I don't think you would have wanted to stay here to drown."

Nuzuki grinned,

"That is very nice of you, but I don't think that is the reason."

He then looked at Orano and added,

"Why did you saved me? Why did you pity me? After all, I'm not a friend of yours. And you tried to stop everything I did."

He then added once more with a more serious expression,

"I want to know why you have so much empathy for people, even though they don't try for you."

Orano then slightly looked back, then turned his head once more and started to explain,

"People may have taught you fear and strength, but what I learned was different."

Then he added,

"The thing that humans don't realize is, the world we are living in is not built for a single human to live in.

Maybe we come into this world alone, might grow up alone, might suffer alone. But these moments are unlikely to last forever. That is why we help each other. Because if you help someone, then that person can help the other too. And it will go on like that.

It's like the wheel of a machine, if we don't lean on each other and don't work correctly, then the machine itself will not work at all.

And maybe helping other people is weakness and stupidity for some people, since you don't know who they truly are.

But that still doesn't make it right anyway.

You can be betrayed by your own actions, but you may help somebody with the same ones.

He then added once more,

"That is why I help people without wanting something in return. Because if there's a chance that something bad might happen, there will always be a chance that something good might happen."

Those words were the last words that Orano said to Nuzuki.

After that, he walked away, leaving Nuzuki alone with his destiny.

After he had finally returned where Ken was, Orano quickly held his arm, helped him to get up, and started talking with him.

"Are you okay?" said Orano, as he tried to carry him.

Then Ken replied as he held his wound with his other hand,

"I am alright, boy. I just need to rest a little bit."

But right after he said that and they tried to walk away, a purple-eyed crow appeared and landed on Ken's shoulder.

Both Orano and Ken looked at it confused. What was a crow doing right there anyway?

Then it started talking,

"You guys did a pretty good job there."

It was a talking crow and made them pretty surprised as they heard it talking. And they still didn't understand how it was happening.

Then Ken understood the situation and his expression had changed.

Then he sighed and said,

"Every day you find even more absurd ways to talk with other people, Elsa."

It was a crow that Elsa had with her for a long time. And since she had experimented with Dark Magic on it, it was able to get mind controlled and made it easier to communicate from long distances.

Then the crow looked at Orano and started talking again,

"Oh! Tatsumi! I knew you would be here too. You joined the war right?"

Orano replied as he tried to understand how the bird talked,

"Yeah. It was a tough battle but we managed to win after all."

"That is very nice to hear!. Frankly, after this old man, you're the only one who's killed so many creatures."

Ken said with a slightly angry tone,

"You are making the same thing again, Elsa."

"Oh, sorry! sorry! Don't take it personally."

Orano then said with a confused expression on his face,

"Actually, there is something I want to know."

The crow looked at him and asked,

"What is it?"

He then asked,

"Why is Ken here? I remember you saying that he had to protect the Black Forest. But he came here to help us in the war. How did he get here?"

"It was after I helped him." The crow said, "He didn't cooperate with me, but I finally convinced him."

Ken then sighed and said,

"I guess I can't stop this."

Then the crow added,

"In short, a lot of my creatures were stolen. And it got on my nerves, and I wanted to get them back from that winged idiot."

"So that is why. I understand."

"I wasn't expecting this war to end like this, but you are all did a good job after all."

Then she added like she remembered something,

"Anyway! I have to go now, I have many important things to do. Bye!"

After the crow said that, it flew away from there and disappeared once again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After Orano and Ken finally got away from there, they slowly walked towards the end of the lake and looked around.

The battlefield was in ruins. And after the last fight, cracks formed in the glaciers, and the lake began to turn back into its normal form. That is why everyone had quickly evacuated and met again on the streets of Idrisud.

After walking for minutes, both Ken and Orano had finally caught up to the others. And seeing them coming, Lydia, Yuma, and Caitrin quickly ran towards them to help them. Then the creature hunters quickly followed them and helped too.

Thanks to the first intervention in Ken's wounds, his life was now safe and now everyone was sitting down and taking a deep breath at last.

But before they even talked with each other, Kono approached Tatsumi and said,

"Tatsumi. Do you have a minute?"

Orano looked at him and said,

"Yes, I do. What happened?"

"I have to say something. I know we had to tell you this earlier but I think now is the best time."

As they walked towards somewhere else, Kono added,

"All this time, we have decimated you and thought that we should never let you talk with us. But now, you have proven us wrong."

"What do you have in mind?"

"I just wanted to tell you that we are sorry. Maybe you will not forget our actions, but I will still respect you. And will accept you as a friend of ours."

He then held out his hand for him to shake and looked at him with a serious expression.

His eyes had changed and they were not the same as the previous time. It wasn't the ego, the disgust, or the disdain that he had previously carried. Instead, he had eyes that were filled with huge respect.

He was waiting for an answer.

Orano then sighed and said,

"I only protected the people I was supposed to protect. You don't have to thank me here, because you showed and proved that you have the same will, here with me. That is why I shouldn't be the one that deserves all of the respect."

He then shook his hand and looked at him.

The cold rivalry between them had finally ended. And a new friendship was born.

And while they were looking at each other, Rai approached them and said with a grin on her face,

"So you have finally talked with him, huh?"

Kono replied with a smile,

"The war has finally ended. It would be useless for us to continue our rivalry."

"Rivalry, huh? It is actually surprising to hear that Rookie got here all the way alone."

She then looked at Tatsumi and said,

"I must say. You might be the Rookie before, but now you are one of us."

Then Kono said,

"Yeah. Thank you, Tatsumi."

Orano then turned his back to them and started walking away from there.

Rai then asked loudly,

"Hey! Tatsumi! Are you going to come back again?"

Orano slightly looked back and said,

"I don't know. But If I do, I'll let you know."

Then he walked past his friends and said,

"Come on. We are going."

They all gathered their stuff and quickly followed Orano.

This adventure, which Orano had been trying and striving for all along, had finally come to an end. So he walked away calmly and made his way wherever the wind took him.
