Chapter 47:

Wrong decisions

How to Survive as a "So-Called Killer"

She created the same black orbs that levitated just like the members of Black Obsidian did back at the forest. I think it was called Kritos? Must have been one of their basic spells they taught at Synth. When she aimed at me and tried to burn me with that substance, I encountered her with the ice rose barricade that absorbed the balls and let them turn black.

“You little! Fine, what about this!” She grumbled and swiftly conjured hundreds of swords making them levitate in the air and fired them straight in my direction from all sides. I quickly raised my hands and created my cocoon of thorns that could deflect the swords. Then I repealed all of the thorns away from my body and let white lilies spread from my back creating my well known wings that let me levitate in the sky. I flew towards her since the brightness the lilies offered could deal with her darkness and keep me away from it at the same time, I was more mobile like this.

“Stop already!” I screamed out at her.

But she seemingly refused to cooperate as she started to chant and create a set of arrows, just like the man in Karkava did. Well, if you don’t want to listen then you give me no choice. I already once used fusion magic, so while I was fighting back at the ball hall I snatched a knife and hid it under my dress.

I took that knife out and let it get wrapped by thorns so that it turned into a longsword. The handle for me to hold, the rest of the knife grew drastically long with thorns and black berries all around the tip of the sword.

Those berries were made from the flower Atropa belladona. If Calista made any contact with the berries she might start to hallucinate or have a hard time breathing. I know Carina had forbidden me from absorbing poisonous flowers because she worried that my body wouldn’t stand the pressure from the poison, however as long as I didn't have direct contact after summoning them it should be fine right?

It was a risk I gladly took.

“You think this would stop me? I have learned far more ever since the last time you saw me, aunt!” I yelled while I cut every single arrow in half and let them fall towards the ground. I also decided to descend. Seeing me on the floor made her smirk.

“That was a mistake dear niece!” She cheered maniacally. She chanted another spell that surrounded me with a cloud of darkness, probably wanting to bind me to this realm.

Dark Dominance? Oh dear aunt, you must have forgotten that on the ground I am the strongest.

As she tried to attack me this time with the well known fire magic that I deflected with my ice roses that were great against heat, I tried to conjure my biggest creation of all time.

In a swift moment the whole place was drowning in flowers, almost like a huge flower field. I crafted a cell and bound her arms and legs with atropa belladona which she wouldn’t be able to dissolve anymore. Her whole body was surrounded.

“You! Why! Why do you always ruin my plans!" She screamed while trying to loosen herself.

She desperately tried to let magic seep out of her body, but the dark light disappeared in an instant. With these chains on she couldn’t use magic. It wasn't possible, because I mixed them with a special potion made by Carina. Every malicious intended magic could never be used, it was soul resistance chains. You lost aunt. I went towards her and gave her a pill and forced it down her throat, so she wouldn’t die from the contact of the flowers.

“It’s over now, Aunt Calista. You can’t escape my chains. I wrapped them with hardened thorns as well, if you struggle any more you will only injure yourself, it’s no use!” I muttered in a flat and hollow voice.

I was exhausted both mentally and physically. If I could I would lie down now but I still have to take us out of here. If I concentrate on the energy I can force back those dark clouds,

“Why won’t you kill me! Kill me already! Just like you did with all my men, like you did with Seymour and Sai, just kill me! Go now, do it!” She yelled ferociously.

“I won’t kill you.”

“You!”

“I won’t. I won’t! So you can atone for your sins for the rest of your life! So you can reflect on what you've done and caused others. So you can realize with how many lives you played with and how many futures you have stolen and destroyed just because of your inferiority complex and obsession. I won't kill you!”

“I don’t care about your opinion, just kill me already. You monster! Just because you feel so special and highly now you talk about this nonsense. Are you afraid to kill? But you already did so often. Huh? You little rat, demon of the bloody mansion, trash!” She hissed.

“Your provocation won’t work on me, try all you want!”

“Why! Why won’t you just stop already! Isn’t it enough that you ruined my life!”

“The one who ruined your own life was yourself! You made that choice. You could have avoided it, no one forced you to do so! But you still did and that’s your sin! I couldn’t protect those women and children I saw. Their voices are still echoing in my mind ever since then. I could only watch them tremble in fear, I couldn't stop it! If you think you could get away with just being killed you are wrong! I won’t let you get killed like that. If you think it should be justified to use dark magic then you should have found other ways to explain to people, but you killed. You could have used that power to help, but you took thousands of lives, you used it to destroy not to repair. So I can’t kill you, I won’t! Because if I do so then that would mean that I forgive you and choose the easy way out for you and that’s something I cannot do. So you can sit in a cell and think about where your life went wrong and why. That’s the only thing I can do for you as your niece!”

Saying these words felt like a weight being taken from my shoulders. I don’t know if this was the best outcome for everything, if my choice was the right one. The only thing I know is I never ever want to see someone stray away from their path like that ever again. As I saw my aunt furiously about to scream at me again, I created some vines to stop her from talking. You could still hear squeaking sounds but that was far better than arguing.

I sat down and closed my eyes, trying to feel the energy around me to create the path towards home. I swayed my arms here and there, felt the wound on my chest worsening and my vision slowly deteriorating. It’s alright, just a little longer. After a few minutes I created the pathway. With the last bit of my energy I, in my weakened state, tugged on the vines that were bound to Calista’s body. We passed through the tunnel of memories, which let her squeak out even more until I finally found the end of the tunnel.

There with a light blue common chicory in his hand was my fiance waiting for me.

“If it took you any longer my lady, he would have killed somebody!” Luca’s voice echoed from the corner of the room.

“You are back, but you don’t look fine at all” Teiran said in a softly manner, waving for his knights to take away Calista. I let go of the vines I tugged so hard.

“Sorry, I did try my best!”

“I know, come here let’s get you treated.“ He responded and carried me one arm under my legs and the other supporting my back. I buried my face in his shoulder.

“You did well, you did really well!”

“Yeah!” I wheezed with a trembling voice.
