Chapter 21:
HIKARU TO ONNA
The little squirrel hopped back into Yumeko's lap. Seeing this, Yuki leaned over and whispered into Tatsuya's ear, "I think Tokoro is totally flirting with Yumeko, what do you say?"
Right then, Tatsuya and Yuki started imagining a ridiculous wedding scene between Tokoro and Yumeko, and they broke into loud laughter and cheers.
Masaru and Kazuya looked at them, completely baffled. "Have these two gone completely crazy?" Masaru asked.
Kenji muttered under his breath, "Honestly, I thought they were crazy from the very beginning." Masaru and Kazuya just stared at him.
Tokoro looked up at Kenji and asked, "Hey Kenji, who are these people? Did you hire new guys to clean the house?"
Yuki screamed in disbelief, "What?! Cleaning guys?!"
Everyone started yelling at Tokoro at once. Kenji quickly stepped in to clarify, "No, no, they came here to meet Hitoshi."
Tokoro sat down on one side, grooming himself, and mumbled, "Oh. I really thought you brought
them in to clean up the place."
Yuki turned to Kazuya and chuckled, "You know, Kazuya, at first I thought this thing was related to a rat because it's just so tiny, right?" Yuki burst out laughing again, and Kazuya, Masaru, and Tatsuya joined in.
Kenji then turned to the little squirrel. "Tokoro, why don't you show them your hidden talent? You know, that dance!"
Tokoro gladly obliged and put on an adorable little dance performance for them. Everyone was laughing so hard their stomachs hurt.
But seeing them laugh at him made Tokoro lose his temper. He suddenly leaped into the air and began kicking everyone in the head, one by one! He flew over to Yuki, aggressively yanked at her hair, and then landed right back into Yumeko's safe lap with a soft thud.
"Ow! He kicks so hard! Ouch!" Kazuya yelled, rubbing his head.
Yuki cried out, "Tokoro!!!!! What did you do that for?! You almost pulled my hair out!"
Tokoro made a funny face and scoffed, "Oh please, my feet are tiny. How can a little kick even hurt?
hurt?"
Yumeko couldn't help but laugh out loud seeing everyone in such a miserable, messy state.
"Well, you certainly proved your point," Masaru groaned.
"Hmph!" Tokoro squeaked proudly. Still a bit annoyed, he started to walk away, but stopped to turn back to Kenji. "Make sure you have my cookies ready!"
Kenji waved his hand reassuringly, "Alright, alright, don't worry about it. Go get some rest.
Here is the story written in natural, easy English. It flows like a script/story scene so that it is simple to read and understand without feeling forced.
Seeing Tokoro speak in that harsh tone, Kazuya asked, "Why did he just order you around like that?"
Kenji sighed and replied, "He’s just angry right now, that's why he's acting up. Don't worry, he’ll come back to play with me in a little while."
Suddenly, Tokoro’s voice rang out from inside the room. "Tell them to leave! When Hitoshi gets here, I will tell Hitoshi everything myself!"
Hearing this, Yuki made a funny, mocking face and teased, "Oh look, 'I will tell Hitoshi everything, haha!'"
Bang! The bedroom door flew open. Tokoro stormed out, absolutely furious, and yelled at the top of his lungs, "Throw all of them out right now! Except for her—she stays!" He pointed directly at Yumeko, wanting everyone else gone.
The whole group faceplanted on the floor in complete shock at his sudden outburst.
Kenji tried to calm him down, saying, "Tokoro, please, just relax."
"But they are annoying me!" Tokoro snapped.
Yumeko smiled and said softly, "Tokoro Hitoshi, you know, just like how cute you look, your anger is just as cute!"
Tokoro paused, blinking in confusion. "What did you just call me? Tokoro Hitoshi?"
"Yeah," Yumeko smiled warmly. "You said you are Hitoshi's son, right?"
Tokoro's anger instantly melted away. He nodded happily and proudly said, "Mm-hmm, you're right! From today on, my name is tokoro hitoshi!
Masaru was losing his patience. He turned to Yuki and said, "Let’s just get out of here! My head is spinning, I can't take this anymore."
Kazuya sighed, looking at Masaru. "Why does he always act like this?"
Meanwhile, Tatsuya was already standing outside, completely ready to leave. Just as Masaru and Kazuya got up to walk away, Kenji stopped them.
"Wait," Kenji said. "You guys still haven't told me why you came looking for Hitoshi in the first place."
Yuki hesitated. "Actually... we wanted to tell Hitoshi something important. It would have been better if he were here."
"Can you tell me what it is?" Kenji asked.
Yuki thought about it for a moment, wondering if it was a good idea to trust him. Finally, he spoke up. "I met a strange woman. She told me that she is going to the Seal Ground to break all the seals. She didn't look like a normal villager at all. When I first saw her, she gave off the vibe of someone from the Space of Demon. Later, when I saw her again, I felt the exact same thing."
Hearing this, Kenji’s face grew serious. He looked deeply worried. "A few days ago, Hitoshi and I were actually talking about this," Kenji said. "Hitoshi mentioned that people from the Space of Demon have managed to sneak in here. But what I don't understand is... Hitoshi created a powerful barrier. How on earth did they manage to bypass it and get inside?"
Yuki panicked. "Oh no... then what’s going to happen now? What if she actually breaks all the seals?!"
Kenji tried to calm him down. "Take a deep breath. Try to stay calm. Hitoshi and the entire Shimaru Sector are on this. They will handle it."
Kazuya spoke up, thinking out loud. "Honestly, I don't think they can do anything to the Seal Ground directly. The main point of the Seal Ground is located inside the Shimaru Sector. If the enemies plan to do anything, they will attack the Shimaru Sector first. They won't be able to touch the Seal Ground easily."
Kenji narrowed his eyes and looked at Kazuya suspiciously. "How are you so sure about this information, Kazuya? How do you know the internal setup so well?"
"Because my dad works there," Kazuya replied casually. "The underground of the Shimaru Sector is where the real security is. That's where the First Grade and the Senoji Grade are stationed, and that is the main area. The buildings for the other two grades are just up on the surface."
Yuki’s eyes widened in pure terror. "What?! Does that mean... does that mean we have to go and guard the Shimaru Sector now?!"
The tension inside the room was thick. Kazuya stared at Kenji with a look of pure doubt. "You can't even protect yourself," Kazuya scoffed. "How on earth are you going to protect us in the Shimaru Sector?"
Kenji didn't look bothered at all. He just gave a calm, reassuring smile. "You don't need to worry about that," he replied.
Before Kazuya could argue, a loud voice shouted from outside. It was Tatsuya, sounding completely impatient. "Hey! Aren't you guys leaving today? It's getting really late!"
"Yeah, we're coming!" Yuki, Kazuya, Masaro, and Yumeko shouted back in unison.
Hearing his voice, Yumeko looked surprised. As they walked out, she asked, "Tatsuya? Were you waiting outside this whole time?"
Tatsuya rolled his eyes and sighed. "Yeah. Thanks to Tokoro's constant nagging, I had no choice but to stay out here."
As the group said their goodbyes to Kenji and started to leave, Tokoro looked at Yumeko. "Make sure you visit again," he said.
Yumeko giggled. "Alright. From now on, your nickname is 'Little Pie Angry Tokoro.' Bye!"
Just then, Yuki turned back to Kenji, his expression turning completely serious. "Kenji, when Hitoshi gets back, tell him I want to meet him. Personally."
Hearing this, Tokoro mocked him with a teasing smirk. "Well, what you want and what you get are two very different things! It's never going to happen."
"You brat, Tokoro!" Yuki snapped in anger, but they finally turned around and left.
