Chapter 2:

The Truth That Breaks Everything

Warriors Academy: The Kuroyuki Clan

Chapter 2: The Truth That Breaks Everything

This was no ordinary night; the very sky seemed to be tearing itself apart. Black clouds hung heavy as mountains of lead, blotting out every trace of moon and stars. Wind shrieked through the highest spires, thunder rolling so deep the earth itself trembled in fear. Then lightning split the darkness — and in that blinding flash, they appeared: Dina Kuroyuki and Yuichi Yagami, floating face to face high above, separated by mere paces yet worlds apart.

Their gazes held no love. Fury, yes — but above all, a hurt so vast it might have rent the sky in two. Dina wept, and her tears, as they fell, transformed into dark flames that burned away before touching the ground. This was not sorrow alone; it was rage, the agony of feeling shattered, the realization that everything she had believed was hers had never truly been hers at all. Yuichi met her gaze steadily, his eyes hard, yet beneath it all lay something that looked very much like defeat — as one who knows no words can mend what has been broken.

“How could you?” she asked. It was not a shout, but a whisper that turned the air cold. “How could you look me in the eye and tell me I was the only one, when all the while you shared your life with them?”

“I never said you were the only one,” he replied, his voice low and steady. “I told you I loved you. And it was true.”

“Lies!” she thundered, and her cry shook the clouds. “All of it was a lie! You made me believe I was your refuge, your queen, your everything… and all the while, she was there. Dannae. My own sister.”

Dina took a step toward him, the air thrumming with ancient, untamed power — the full fury of the Kuroyuki blood unleashed.

“Mei exists,” she said, and the name pained her to speak it. “Your daughter with her. Living proof that you lied to me day after day. Do you know what it cost me to accept that? Do you know how it hurt to see her and understand you had already built a life in someone else’s arms before you ever came to mine?”

Yuichi lowered his gaze but did not step back.

“I never planned any of this,” he said, his voice breaking. “When I arrived in this world, I fell from the sky — lost, with no memory. I did not know who I was or where I belonged. They took me in. They cared for me. I met Dannae first, in the palace infirmary… she was my first guide, the first person who made me smile. What grew between us happened without seeking it.”

“And Rumi?” Her words were sharp as a blade. “Did that happen without seeking too? The youngest, the purest among us — she who welcomed you with the innocence of one who knows no deceit. Did she too fall into your arms by chance?”

Yuichi fell silent — and that silence was the most painful answer of all.

“You love her,” Dina said, a look of scorn twisting into tears. “You love them as you love me. As you love Dannae. So many hearts won over… and you, the stranger fallen from the sky, found your way into every heart you pleased.”

“That is not how it was,” he answered, lifting his head. “I did not seek any of this. They… you… each of you made me feel I belonged. In your own way, each gave me something I needed. I did not choose to love you all. It simply happened. I was not this way in the world I came from.”

“That is what makes it worst!” she screamed, lightning striking between them, illuminating her stricken face. “That you lacked the courage to choose! You let us all fall in love with you while you gave away pieces of your heart, never seeing you were breaking our lives apart!”

Dina raised both hands, and a surge of immense power thrust him backward. Yuichi did not strike back; he only defended himself, dodging the blow, every movement as agonizing as if she had driven a sword through him.

“Do you know who I am?” She advanced slowly, terrible in her resolve. “I am the eldest. The queen. I have held this realm together since we were born. And you… you arrived with nothing, and took everything that was mine. Not only my heart — but my family’s too. If Rumi learns the full truth… if her power fully awakens… she could kill me. And you know it. You prefer her, do you not?”

“I do not prefer her,” Yuichi said firmly. “I love her. As I love you. As I love Dannae. But I cannot choose between you. It would be as if you asked me to tear my soul apart and decide which piece is worth keeping.”

“Then none of this matters to you,” she spat. “Not me, not them, not this world that opened its doors to you.”

She looked down — at city lights flickering out one by one, at people running for shelter as the ground cracked and towers crumbled. The kingdom she had ruled justly for centuries was unraveling in moments, all because of her rage. And she did not care.

“If you have shattered my world,” she said, her voice cold and terrible, “then I will destroy everything. Let the sky fall, let the earth split open… if I cannot have you whole, nothing else matters. Not the kingdom, not its people, not my own sisters. Let it all burn with us.”

“Dina, please…” He pleaded, seeing her power swell beyond control. “Think of what you are doing. There are innocent people who have done nothing to deserve this.”

“Then let them pay!” she roared, launching herself at him. “Let them learn that when their queen suffers, the whole world trembles!”

They collided — a sound like mountains crashing together. Yuichi fell back, defending himself, never striking to hurt, only to shield himself. Dina struck with everything she had; every blow carried the weight of love betrayed, of trust shattered, of years believing herself special only to learn she was merely one among many.

“Why do you not fight back?” she cried, striking his chest with both fists. “Defend yourself truly! Look at me and tell me you do not love me!”

“I cannot say it,” he answered, breathless. “Because it would not be the truth.”

The answer halted her, if only for a moment — long enough to feed her rage to a fiercer blaze.

“Then die,” she whispered. “Or kill me yourself. But this will not end here.”

And the battle raged on, fierce and merciless, as the sky crumbled and the world that had welcomed them fell apart around them. No one yet knew this was only the beginning: that deeper secrets would come to light, that older bonds would break, and that the fate of all had been written in fire and blood long before Yuichi ever fell from the sky.
