Chapter 12:

Any room is fine with me

The director of the magic school is the new student, Susie Liam

(I can sleep anywhere. I'll give my seat to everyone else.)

I let my pink hair sway languidly. I stretched out my slender, fawn-like arms and legs.

"The smallest room is fine."

I leaned against the wall and watched everyone running around.

I missed my beloved cat, Cheshire, who lives at my parents' house. My dream is to spend the whole day napping with her.

If I told my parents something like that, they'd probably faint.

After graduating from here, I've decided to use some kind of wealth-building magic to accumulate a certain amount of savings and then retire.

I'm not getting married. Oh, but I might be forced into a political marriage... I don't want that...

"Hey, wanna look for it together?!"

Suddenly, a cheerful voice rang out in my ear. I turned around and saw Miranda, her short hair swaying.

"I'm fine."

"Susie! It looks like no one's checked the storage room in the cafeteria over there yet. Can you help me out?"

"It's fine, I told you."

Miranda's eyes sparkle with ambition and curiosity.

I shrugged.

Miranda's father was a scholar. They say he was a genius, having won the Rumble Prize in Chemistry twice. But he wasn't a wizard. She was the only pure-blooded human girl in this year's class, not a wizard. Miranda must be exceptionally talented.

"I have no choice. I'll go with you."

"Hey! Are you leaving it all to someone else?"

What I've learned this past week is that Miranda is the type of person who excels at leadership. I'm sure she'll become the CEO of a huge corporation, perhaps in the chemical industry, in the future.

Ever since that day I got seasick, she's been meddlesome and helpful to me when I'm feeling lethargic.

(I'll ask Miranda to hire me... fully remotely.)

With such life plans in mind, I headed towards the storage room. Deep inside the dining hall, the storage room was filled with cool air and piled high with countless wooden crates and barrels.
