Chapter 32:
HIKARU TO ONNA
Yuki stood frozen beside the lifeless body of Yukito. All around him, their village lay in ruins. The destruction was absolute, but the grief inside Yuki was even heavier. How could he carry such a massive loss?Suddenly, Yuki sat up perfectly straight. His voice was eerily calm as he looked down at his fallen friend. "You know, Yukito... Hikaru is our mother," Yuki whispered to the empty air. "But where she is, I don't know."Slowly, Yuki reached out and took the muffler from around Yukitoās neck. He wrapped it gently around his own throat. "From now on, you will always be with me," Yuki said, a small, sad smile flashing across his face. But the calm didn't last. The next second, a wild scream ripped from Yuki's chest. "I won't spare anyone! I will destroy everything, Onna!" he roared.Watching him break down like this broke his friends' hearts. Seeing Yuki in so much pain hurt them deeply. Makato was completely lost in grief over Yukitoās death. Haru, Mika, Keito, and Akari looked on, their hearts aching for him. But then, Yuki stopped crying. His eyes became unnaturally calm, like a quiet shadow, but the look in them was terrifying. Anyone looking at him could tellāhe was fueled by a deadly desire for revenge against Onna. When Makato walked up to comfort him, Yuki completely ignored him. He didn't want to talk. Annoyed and cold, Yuki snapped, "How many more lies are you going to tell me? What do you even want to say? And Hikaru, my momāwhere is she? Who are these people? Tell me!"Makato had searched for Hikaru before, but he had found absolutely nothing. "I don't know where she is," Makato admitted softly.Yuki turned his back. "Then don't ever come to talk to me again."The situation in the village was getting worse by the minute. Onna had done something terrible to the seals of the Sacred Ground, and none of the elders or villagers knew how to fix them. Now, Yukiās power was their only hope. But everything felt messy and confusing in Yuki's mind. He couldn't figure out where his First Name Seal was hidden.Frustrated, Yuki rushed to his room and began, searching through his things like a madman. Suddenly, a memory flashed in his mind. He remembered a time when Yukito was teaching him how to use his powers. Yuki had thrown a massive, powerful punch back then, and the impact had uncovered a strange, mysterious object in the ground. That must be it, Yuki thought, his heart racing. That has to be my name seal, the one Hikaru made when I was born.Yuki made up his mind. He would go to the Space of Demons entirely alone. He had to fix everyone's seals and end this nightmare. As he prepared to leave, thoughts of Tokoro and Hitoshi crossed his mind. While trying to create the Copy Crystal, Tokoro had pushed his body too far and fallen dangerously ill. He had been unconscious for the past few days. Hitoshi wasn't doing well either. There was no backup left. In this final, brutal war, Yuki would have to fight and win all by himself.Yuki entered the Space of Demons entirely alone, where Onna was already waiting for him."I have been waiting for you, Yuki," Onna said, her voice echoing in the dark space.Yuki didn't come to talk; he had come to avenge his brother's death. Without warning, Yuki launched the first attack. As their powers clashed, Yuki demanded, "Why are you doing this? What reason could you possibly have to destroy the sacred seals?"Onna deflected the blow and looked at him coldly. "Have you ever felt true helplessness, Yuki?" She gestured around the desolate space. "If you didn't have this immense power, if you were weak, the people around you would make fun of you. They wouldn't look at you with respectāthey would look at you with disgust and irritation."Yuki stayed silent, his eyes burning with rage.Onna continued, "When people mock you for something you don't have, that is true helplessness. I swore I would never have a weak point in my life again. I have never loved anyone, no one has ever loved me, and I don't even love myself. I have nothing left to lose."Shut up!" Yuki roared, his anger boiling over. "Why did you kill my big brother?! What did he ever do to you? Why did you do this to our village? Why did you rip him away from me?!"Onna paused, looking confused. "What? Yukito? Who is Yukito?""Yukito was my big brother!" Yuki shouted.Hearing this, reality hit Onna like a physical blow. She suddenly realized that the boy who died in yesterday's battle was Yukitoāone of her own twin sons. Before she could process the shock, dark, terrifying smoke began to swirl heavily around Yuki's body. His aura turned completely menacing. "I came here for revenge," Yuki said, his voice dropping to a horrifying, deadly whisper. "Why did my brother have to die? Who is going to take responsibility for what you did to our village? Tell me, what did you do to the seals?!"With a burst of pure fury, Yuki unleashed his attack, summoning a massive, terrifying demon from his aura. Onna was genuinely shocked by the sheer scale of Yuki's rage and raw powerSeeing his demon manifest, Onna quickly summoned her own demon to block the hit.The two demons collided, and a brutal, earth-shaking fight broke out between Yuki and Onna."You still haven't answered my question, Onna!" Yuki screamed through the chaos. "You and your people destroyed my home! My brother is dead because of you!"Onnaās movements slowed down. She was struggling to fight back now because her mind was spinning. It was completely clear to her nowāYuki and Yukito were the twin sons she had left behind long ago, the ones Makato had taken in and named. The weight of Yukito's death pressed heavily on Onna's chest, leaving her stunned and confused. She didn't know what to do anymore. If she stopped the fight right now and told Yuki that she was actually Hikaruātheir biological motherāwould Yuki even believe her? He had never seen his mother his entire life. If she suddenly confessed the truth in the middle of a war, how could Yuki ever accept it?Yuki kept launching attack after attack, blind with fury. Onna barely managed to dodge and deflect his strikes, her mind completely racing. Looking at him, she realized her son was consumed by an unimaginable amount of rage. He had come here with only one goal: to take revenge for his brother.A wave of painful memories hit Onna. She had only seen her twin sons for a very short time when they were babies, but she had loved them so dearly back then. Now, Yuki was not stopping for anything. He lunged at Onna from every direction, striking wildly and ruthlessly. Onna found herself
completely unable to counterattack. The blows Yuki was landing now were truly terrifying, and several of them crashed heavily against her body, injuring her. She just couldn't bring herself to hit him backāhow could she strike her own son?Deep down, a suffocating guilt began to crush Onna. She desperately wanted to tell him the truth, but Yuki's fiery wrath gave her absolutely no room to speak. Inside Yuki, a roaring fire was burning, and he blamed Onna entirely for the death of his twin brother.Gathering all his strength, Yuki delivered a devastating, monstrous blow. The force of the impact slammed Onna hard against the ground. Gasping for air and heavily wounded, she couldn't find the strength to stand back up.Breathing heavily, she looked up at him and cried out, "Yuki... Yuki, listen to me... I am your mom. Iam Hikaru!"Yuki froze instantly. The heavy air in the Space of Demons seemed to stand still for a single minute. "What?!" Yuki breathed, his voice shaking before turning back into rage. "Impossible! I don't believe you! A woman this cruel... how can she be my mother?!"Onnaānow revealing her true identity as Hikaruālooked at him with tears in her eyes. "Did you only see my cruelty, Yuki? To give you and your brother your immense powers, I had to sell away a part of my own life. Please... just call me 'Mom' once. I am truly Hikaru. In seeking revenge for the hatred and neglect I faced in my past, I destroyed myself... but you must save whatever is left of your life."With those final, heartbreaking words, her breath faded away. Onna died right there on the cold ground.
Yuki sat frozen in absolute shock, his mind spinning from his motherās sudden confession and death. Dropping to his knees beside her lifeless body, tears finally spilled from his eyes."Mom... Hikaru..." Yuki sobbed, his voice breaking in the heavy silence. "You set my entire life on fire, only to burn to death in it yourself. And now, you've left nothing but ashes for me."It was a nightmare he had never imagined. He had spent his whole life wondering about his mother, only to find her and lose her in the exact same breath. A crushing emptiness swallowed him. Yuki felt completely hollow, as if everything beautiful in his world had been permanently destroyed and lost forever. As Yuki sat there, completely broken and weeping in the ruins of the Space of Demons, a figure slowly limped into view. It was Kazuya. He was visibly injured, covered in scratches and bruises, barely holding himself up.Dragging his feet, Kazuya finally reached Yuki's side. "Yuki... Yuki, listen to me!" Kazuya gasped, desperately trying to catch his breath. "The village... the demons are everywhere. They are torturing everyone, destroying everything in their path! We can't hold them off much longer. Thevillage... the demons are everywhere. They are torturing everyone, destroying everything in their path! We can't hold them off much longer. The whole village is counting on you, Yuki. Only your power can stop them. Please... you have to come quickly!"Hearing Kazuyaās panicked words, something shifted inside Yuki. He slowly stood up, wiping his tears away. His grief began to turn into sharp focus. He remembered his mother's final words about the demons and the sacred seals. He realized that if he could find the Demon Power Seal and destroy it completely, the demons would lose their source of energy, and their reign of terror would finally end. The war wasn't over yet, and Yuki knew he had to strike back immediately.
Yuki immediately rushed to the location Hikaru had revealed to him before she passed away. When he arrived, he was met with a terrifying, desolate landscape that looked like the true heart of nightmares. Swallowing his fear, Yuki pressed forward into the shadows.Deep inside the area, he discovered the power seal capsules pulsing with dark energy.Kazuya, stumbling behind him, gasped in shock, "Yuki... how did you know this place existed? How did you find these?""Drop it, Kazuya!" Yuki snapped, his eyes locked on the targets. "Right now, we just need to destroy these capsules and wipe out these monsters once and for all!" With a surge of raw, destructive power, Yuki smashed the capsules, shattering the dark energy source completely.Meanwhile, back in the village, the demons of the Space of Demons had been running rampant. They had been torturing the villagers, trying to viciously show them what it felt like to be stripped of their name seal powersāthe exact torment that had been inflicted upon the demons in the past. But the moment Yuki broke the capsules, a
bizarre phenomenon occurred. The bodies of the attackers suddenly began to shift and warp. The villagers watched in absolute shock as the young, powerful warriors transformed before their very eyes. They weren't naturally young at all; they were actually ancient, elderly people who had used the dark magic of the Akuma to siphon power and falsely restore their youth! When Yuki and Kazuya finally made it back to the village, the battle was already over. The invaders had reverted entirely to their true, frail forms. They were now lying scattered across the ground, completely exhausted and near death as their stolen life force evaporated.Yuki looked down at their withered bodies, a cold realization washing over him. "They really traded their souls to Akuma just to look young and powerful..." Yuki muttered, his voice heavy with disgust. "A life built on stolen time like this... I don't think it has any value at all."Seeing the massive scale of the crisis and hearing about the tragedy that had struck the village, Katsuro and Hayato made a firm decision. Even though Katsuro had been suffering from severe heart complications for a very long time, his heart was finally healed and stable enough for him to move. Together, they vowed to return to the village center and permanently fix the broken sacred seals. The village was finally safe, and the war was won. Yet, for Yuki, there was no victory. Two massive, bleeding wounds remained completely unhealed in Yuki's heart, bringing him a pain so intense he could barely breathe. He had lost his beloved brother, Yukito. And worse, he had to live with the agonizing truth that the villain he had fought so hard to destroy was his own mother.Amidst the ruins of the battlefield, Yuki discovered a final, tear-stained note left behind by Hikaru. The handwriting was shaky, carrying the final words of a broken soul:"I couldn't be a good mom like Akari was... but to give you both your ultimate power, I gladly sold away my own soul. My dearest Yukito... and my dearest Yoru."Yuki stared at the paper as the truth finally clicked into place. Standing before his own First Name Seal, he looked down at the ancient text etched into the stone. The name written there wasn't Yuki.It was Yoru.
