Chapter 947:

Delayed reaction

En Passant Grandmaster

With the players in position, Imono opened by moving her pawn to e4.

"Ready to humiliate her?" Vasily's voice chuckled in Miyako's head.

"Yes, fuck her up," Miyako snickered as she moved her pawn to f5.

Lowri's gaze narrowed instantly at the move. "You're setting yourself up now," she thought as Imono captured said pawn with her e-pawn.

Miyako continued to grin like a loon, this time out of her own volition, as her hand moved her knight to f6.

"Look at that. I don't even need to force her to smile," Vasily thought as Imono moved her queen to f3.

"Don't know what you're planning, but it looks exploitable. And if something's exploitable, I'm exploiting it," Imono grinned in her mind as Miyako moved her pawn to e6.

She then captured said pawn with her f-pawn and watched as Miyako moved her knight to c6. "Time to give you a redux of your second night here, or was it a night? I don't know. All I care about is beating this challenge and getting paid," she scoffed as she moved her bishop to d3.

The black-haired woman's gaze narrowed as she saw the play. "That's... Bishop c5," she thought as Miyako slowly extended her hand and moved her bishop to c5.

Imono continued to develop pieces by moving her knight to c3, while Miyako found herself castling king's side. "It's starting to feel natural having Vasily move my arms. Imagine if he could do this for curling. I'd be winning gold, no, he'd need to do it for the others too. They botched it. They cost me my gold," Miyako thought.

Imono slowly began tapping the table with her finger before shrugging and moving her knight to e4. "Let's go big. This should bag a fluke like her easy," she thought as Miyako moved her knight to e5. "GOTCHA! CHECK!" she grinned as she captured the knight at f6 with her knight.

Both the black-haired woman and Lowri stared in disbelief.

"She really went and did that," the black-haired woman sighed as she turned around.

"Anyone above 2000 can see what Imono's planning. Maybe it would work on normal folks, but a cheater like her? I don't think so," Lowri thought as scowled and watched as Miyako extended her hand and captured the knight at f6 with her rook. "Queen e4. She's gonna go for the queen captures h7, but that isn't mate," she thought as Imono fulfilled her prophecy by moving her queen to e4.

"How do you like that? Next move, it's check, then mate. You're gonna get duped again," Imono gleefully thought.

"Check," Miyako softly laughed as she captured the bishop at d3 with her knight.

Imono recoiled in shock. "I needed that!" she fumed as she captured the knight at f3 with her c-pawn.

Now even Arina could see the trouble Imono was in as Miyako began grinning maniacally as she quickly captured the pawn at e6 with her rook. "Oh no... Imono, you're losing your queen... that's not good," she trembled as she began to tear up.

She wasn't the only one as Imono herself, began to go pale at the realization. "No, no. This fucking game!" she thought as she frantically moved her knight to f3.

Then Miyako raised eyebrows and browless brows by moving her pawn to d5.

"Why didn't she capture!?" Arina thought.

"That move... Yeah, that's proof enough right there," Lowri glared.

Imono scowled and clicked her tongue as she captured the rook at e6 with her queen. "CHECK!"

The words had barely left her mouth before Miyako captured said queen with her bishop.

"You shit eating shit! Don't get all giddy cuz you got my queen! Your dumbass didn't even know you were playing chess with me back then, so no way you're beating me!" Imono raged as she moved her pawn to d4.

"You pissed me off... You cheated. I WOULD HAVE WON IF I HAD KNOWN! ... Which I'm rectifying now," Miyako grinned as wide as she could before moving her bishop to g4.

"Uh, it was ruled fair," Imono scoffed as she captured the bishop at c5 with her d-pawn.

"Oh you'll wish it wasn't. CHECK!" Miyako cackled as she slammed her queen down on e7.

"OH, REAL DRAMATIC! GO FUCK YOURSELF!" Imono shouted as she moved her king to d1 and flipped off Miyako.

"RIGHT BACK AT YA!" Miyako laughed as she moved her rook to e8. "... Uh... Why am I not flipping you off?"

The slip quickly drew eyes to Miyako, but only Lowri's gaze pierced like arrows. The rest, were simply confused, Imono included. Then awkwardly, Miyako's hands began flopping before steadying to give Imono the double middle finger salute.

Awkward silence ensured as Imono cringed and slowly nudged her pawn to b4.

"Uh, um... Fuck you," Miyako nervously laughed as she moved her queen to e2, forcing Imono's king to c2. "Oh, that was check. And uh... check again," she nervously chuckled as she moved her queen to c4.

Lowri intensified her glare as Imono moved her king to b1, while Miyako followed up with bishop f5, check. "It's mate in 2, but no way I'm letting this cheater get the win. Those delayed gestures are the last thing I needed to solidify my case. Miyako, you're cooked," she thought as Imono moved her pawn to d3.

Said pawn was quickly captured by Miyako's bishop, while Imono began to sweat as she found herself forced to move her king to b2. "Fuck. I'm going to lose to her... No, she had to be cheating! there's no way she could have pulled this off!" she thought as Miyako reached for her queen. "CHEATER!"

The guards all glanced over as Lowri took it as her cue to step in. "Yes, Miyako is cheating, and I can prove it!"

"Let the game finish first," Vasily's voice snarled over the loudspeaker.

"Tch, this shit better rule in my favor," Imono snarled as Miyako frowned and captured the pawn at b4 with her queen.

"Black has won," the board stated.

"Now, do wait a few minutes while I come down to hear your... testimonies," Vasily chuckled.
