Chapter 7:

Chapter Fifteen said there would be Golems!

The Outcast of the Mage's Association

This dungeon didn’t look like any of the dungeons back in the demon territory. This one was rather ancient, you could tell from the walls crumbling and dust gathering around. Also this mud like substance on the ground that created weird noises each time we stepped on them.

This sucks! I can just go ahead and throw my boots away!

The dungeon also smelled unfamiliar. I adventured every single dungeon existing in the Ashura tribe in hopes to escape, hence why my plan 2 failed since there was no way out except the entrance.

However the dungeons there were almost glamorous compared to here. They were brimming with red light and dark marbled walls created endless paths, with a clean and beautiful ground it almost was the royal version of this shabby dungeon.

Yeah I tell you this dungeon is boring, dirty and not the least bit interesting!

As we walked the path I sighed out loud in disappointment.

“So why do I have to go with you again?” I mumbled to myself. Tannie who was striding along sighed as well.

“Because I want to avoid you causing an uproar and making this place crumble before we find that man” Pointy ears answered.

“Again with this, look I am the last person who would cause trouble!”

“Says the one who almost-”

“... stop fighting already. You heard that glasses guy didn’t you? You should try to get along for now and concentrate on the mission” Tannie interrupted.

“So how long do we have to walk again till we find that man?” I complained.

I looked around but there was no sight of screaming, blood, clothes or footprints here.

“Are we really sure he is here?” I asked.

“You heard the leader, the last traces of his mana were found here.”

“But Pointy ears think about it, maybe he wanted to meet his lover and they just ran away!”

“The chances of that are less than one percent.”

“As long as the possibility exists you should prepare for the consequences” I shrugged.

“You are taking this really seriously huh?” Pointy ears sighed.

“So kids listen for a second. I have been wondering for a while but haven’t we crossed this path already a few minutes ago?” Tannie asked.

“What do you mean?” I wondered.

“Look there Meilyn that wall with the huge X crossed over there, you complained about it a few minutes ago. You said that it looked ugly.”

“You are right, that ugly wall!”

“It seems like this is a maze after all?” Pointy ears added.

“Finally!” I cheered.

“Finally?” Pointy ears looked bewildered by my sudden excitement.

“Finally something interesting is happening! So this dark and muddy dungeon was a maze where the paths get reconstructed. How great! This is exactly like that book we talked about yesterday Tannie!“

“What book?” Pointy ears asked while taking glances at Tannie.

Tannie sighed.

“That adventure book that was lying around in the room as a welcome gift. She was having a blast reading that, what was the title again–”

“The adventures of Galego and his misfit class. Listen carefully Pointy ears, this is a really important aspect! In chapter fifteen Galego and Melina were lost in a dungeon searching for the forbidden fruit of youth so they could fight against the Underworld King that has been trying to take them down ever since chapter one. So Melina was like Galego doesn’t this path look familiar and then he said yes if you look closely there are subtle changes that keep on happening and it’s rotating all the time. So they were trapped in there for a very long time and Golems appeared and attacked them also-”

“... what even is this book about?!” He looked completely traumatized.

“A book of adventure and fun!” I exclaimed.

“Well whatever, you seem to be right about one point there really seems to be some changes happening here.”

“Right, right! Could it be this exact dungeon?! Then there should be golems attacking us soon! And a treasure! A forbidden fruit, a mysterious map or desserts?!”

“No way that golems would suddenly appear and try to-”

Pointy ears’ words were disrupted by the sudden shaking of the dungeon.

The moment we reached the end of the path, suddenly a wall came falling down, another path was shifted towards us opening up a two-way path in front of us.

“Now only the golems are left!” I said.

“Alright there do seem to be some sort of maze shifting magic being applied here but seriously, do you really think that golems would appear from such a-”

BOOM

“Grrrr”

A sudden explosive sound and an earsplitting scream echoed through the new path in front of us. There from afar a group of massive, humanoid clay figures came running at us with red glaring eyes.

“No way!” Pointy ears was dumbfounded, staring at the large creatures.

“Finally they make their appearance, the golems!”

I started to let the dark fog escape from my fingertips creating an almost liquidy texture. I started to let it revolve around my hand letting it turn around in a swift movement so it could attack as a dark arrowhead. However Pointy ears also created a lance out of his white glowing magic and we let them fly towards the golems at the same time.

They started to mix mid-air creating a blinding grey flash and ultimately exploding.

The shock wave slammed us back against the wall and sent us crumbling on the floor.

With the explosion the creatures were turned to dust not able to recreate their bodies, leaving me and Pointy ears stunned.

“...Maybe we should take turns?” He asked, his voice strained.

“... I agree.”

I started to cough from all the dust that was released in the air.

This combination is no fun–that was lethal! If we were even just a bit closer to the blast it would have been our remains the members would have had to collect from the ground!

“By the way, where is Tannie?” I blinked realizing he was nowhere to be seen.

I stood up from the ground and started sprinting towards the corner where the path split.

There he was standing staring towards an entrance.

“Tannie, why are you going on your own, I thought you turned to ashes!”

“What are you looking at lizard?” Pointy ears added.

Do you want to die? Except me he doesn’t tolerate anyone calling him a lizard. Right, Tannie?

… Tannie?!

However Tannie didn’t answer.

“Hey, what is it? Are you hurt? Are you fine?”

“Meilyn look ahead!”

“Hmm?”

As I looked in front of me there were two figures. One of them, a man that was sitting down kneeling and begging for help. The other one a woman that had a translucent and rather foggy appearance. She was holding onto his throat. Only after taking a look at them their voices could be transmitted.

“How could you do this to me Jeremy! Why would you go after that human when I gave you my everything!”

“Miria if you could just listen once!”

“No, I already listened enough to your lies!”

They were fighting.

“Tannie, is this what I think it is?”

“... A lover’s quarrel!" he answered.

“Is that the tea thing we talked about?!” I exclaimed.

“Tea?” Pointy ears interrupted.

“Yeah, Spit the tea out!”

….

“... It’s spill the tea, Meilyn.”
