Chapter 8:

The art of breaking bones

The Outcast of the Mage's Association

“Dear intruders, would you care to leave please! As you see we are having an important conversation right now.” The translucent woman said.

Then she shifted her gaze back towards the guy and pressed her nails towards his throat.

“Just a quick question, what type of creature is she?” I asked.

“A Jinniri, Meilyn. Also it appears at the end of chapter 30 in the book” Tannie said.

“No, why would you spoil that part?! I didn't even make it till there Tannie!”

“Then let me give you some information, when Galego and his student Adoras Altisse encountered a bloody massacre on a night of delight there was a Jinniri at the scene begging them for help since she found a dead body. But she was actually the killer so she tried to trap them and kill them. They described her as a creature born from smoking fire and faintly glowing embers being surrounded by a swift translucent wind.”

“That’s a great chapter, I should continue reading it once we make it back!”

“Why are you both so obsessed with that book and shouldn’t we interrupt them and secure the target?” Pointy ears complained.

I slapped his arm down.

“Okay I got this, leave it to me Pointy ears!”

“Are you really sure you know what to do?” He doubted me.

“Listen, I know the ways of a woman, you have to be delicate and precise.”

“Delicate? You?”

“Jeremy, how dare you say that to me!” The Jinniri’s yell interrupted us.

“Miria, what can I do? I fell in love with Rubianne. She saved my life!”

“Saved your life? Who was the one that protected you from the flames when that building was burning down? Who is the one that helped you get back on your feet, that nurtured you and helped you earn money?”

“But Rubianne told me she would love me to the depths of the world.”

“You freak, did none of my love matter to you? I always believed in you even when you messed up your errands and couldn’t win a new client for your merchant’s innovation. I was the one that helped you, not her so why!”

“Miria, I–”

“No, I should just kill you!”

“Hey, killing would do you no good! Do you think an idiot like that would change his mind just because you threaten him? Leave him Miss he is not worth it, you will find someone better!” I yelled out.

The Jinniri named Miria looked at me with tears flowing down her eyes.

“Hey didn’t you want to help him?” Pointy ears whispered in my ear.

“Sorry, I don’t like those people that betray their lovers!”

“You mean cheaters?” he asked.

“Right, nice one Pointy ears!” Tannie added which left Pointy ears questioning whether he hallucinated since he received a compliment.

Yeah, you should feel honored! Tannie isn’t the type to randomly compliment anyone.

Then I gazed back towards the Jinniri.

“And you, you cheating freak, how dare you betray such a Beauty!”

“B-beauty?” she asked.

“If I were you I would be begging on my knees asking for forgiveness! You lost your chance. Come on Miss, let's go! We don’t need losers like that!” I hissed.

“M-miria please just listen once-” The man continued on.

“Shut up Jeremy I listened to you a thousand times already!”

“Yeah she did!” I added.

“And I gave my everything to you!” She expressed.

“Exactly!” I added.

“Hey maybe we should stay silent?” Pointy ears nudged my arm.

“No, let her talk! I like that girl!” the Jinniri said.

“D-didn’t you come to save me? You red eyed girl, you are a demon aren’t you? You ugly monster, you ferocious beast! Go back to where you came from, to your vicious relatives!” He yelled toward me.

“M-meilyn?” Tannie panicked.

Did you just call my brother vicious?!

Ah this reminds me of something Raiden taught me.

—---------------------------------------------------

Nine years ago

Meilyn and Raiden Taira, age 8 years old.

“Listen Meilyn, if anyone dares to insult you while I am not by your side, you should always fight back. No one is allowed to insult you!” Raiden said, clenching his fist in the air.

“Should I hit him?”

“Well that depends, people tend to get triggered more with words or if you ignore them but if there is someone that makes you really angry then yeah kick them!”

“Like swoosh?”

“Yeah with a huge swoosh, try not to use your magic though. You might kill them.”

“Killing is not good, right brother?”

“Exactly! As expected of my genius twin! If you were just a little more confident nobody could stop you!”

“Sorry, I am always scared…”

“That’s okay Mei! Don’t be sorry. As long as I am here no one can hurt you right?”

“Mhh, because we are two halves of a whole and together better than ever!”

“That’s right we are two parts of one heart!” he repeated.

“But still let me teach you a grand technique in case I am not with you. Look carefully Mei first you need to…”

—---------------------------------------------------

“First you need to take a step back!”

“What?” Tannie and Pointy ears asked as I took a few steps behind.

“Then you start sprinting at him!”

I started dashing towards the Jinniri and that disgusting piece of trash.

Just as I was standing right there with fury in my eyes, as if understanding Miria loosened her grip on the trash. She carefully observed my moves.

“Then you concentrate all your energy on your foot and...”

I concentrated my mana on my foot so it would harden like steel.

“Kick him in between his legs!”

“Ugh” He let out a shriek while crumbling on the floor.

“And as a grand finale you concentrate your energy on your fist and smash him in his face!”

With a slap towards his face the man ultimately fainted, leaving behind a silence and stunned expressions.

Damn brother your technique actually worked! It’s good that I kept on training for the moment to use this!

“Now Miss Beauty, should we go?”

The woman looked at the man and then gazed towards me. As if satisfied with my performance she smiled radiantly.

“Oh my dear, who are you calling a beauty? You make me feel flustered! What’s your name? Should we go for some tea?”

"I am Meilyn Taira and you?"

"Meilyn, such a pretty name! I am Miria, call me sis!"

She flew around me and put an arm over my shoulder and so we kept on chatting while leaving through the door.

“Women are scary!” Pointy ears mumbled.

“See? You shouldn’t provoke Meilyn!”

“What about Jeremy?”

Both of them stared back at Jeremy lying motionless on the floor, his face covered in bruises.

“I mean he is still alive…”

“... mission accomplished?”
