Chapter 7:
A Vampire's Guide to Owning and Caring for Your Pet Human
Six weeks.
It has been six weeks since I became a certified human pet owner, and I think it is time for me to close this guide. Below is a summary for those who skipped to the end, which I know is most of you. So here is a list of ten rules to follow for all human pet owners:
1.) Choose the one who looks at you, and check the hands
2.) Listen to them, even if you don’t understand.
3.) Chip her, tag her, sigil her. Expect sixty percent obedience.
4.) Learn what she loves. Mine loves coffee.
5.) Do not cook for your pet, just let the appropriate staff handle it.
6.) Build a house she does not want to leave.
7.) Make sure they have access to sunlight, water, and bathroom access.
8.) Build a home your pet doesn’t want to leave.
9.) Never let another vampire touch her.
10.) When at social gatherings, keep your pet at your side at all times, and do not let anyone feed your pet or feed off your pet.
And now my question for the community.
About a week ago, I noticed that Ginger had started writing.
It began on a scrap of paper on her windowsill. I photographed it to show you all. (I photograph a great many things for this guide. She has watched me do it. She watched me do it very closely, in fact, and then watched me type, and then watched the little screen light up when I posted. She seemed extremely interested in the whole process, which I found flattering.)
The next morning, there was more writing. On napkins. On the bathroom mirror, and even written in blood on the laundry going out. I think the most interesting one is inside the paper wrappers the coffee comes in, which go back to the supplier. I even found some in the margins of some of my books as she does also enjoy spending time in the library.
Every time I photograph one, she writes another. She is very prolific. I believe she is trying to impress me.
I cannot read any of it. Human script is no more legible to me than human speech. So I have attached the photographs in the order she wrote them. If any of you can make them out, I would be grateful.

WARNING: PL- Rank A+
Here is the strange part. When I first saw the writing from the brown paper, she noticed my curiosity. I saw her write this word several more times, then tap it, and point at herself.
When I say "Ginger," she shakes her head and says one of the two words I do know.
“No.”
When I say nothing at all, she nods, slowly, and points to herself. I begin to suspect she is sharing something deeply personal. Her name. Her original name. But I am not certain. If so, I will go back and redact this portion of the post to protect her identity as we know that all names, even incomplete one’s, hold power.
What is even stranger, is that last night she fell asleep on top of the wardrobe again. Something she had not done since I first got her. Before she drifted off, I tapped the wood to alert her that I was there. I noticed tear streaks on her eyes, and that she was clutching that ring. Concerned, I made the shrug gesture when I have come to learn as a human expression for questions or not knowing something.
I asked her “what is wrong?”
She looked down at the ring for a long time. Then she said one word, very quietly. I have written it down: EV-ree-thing.
I do not know what it means. I do not have a tip for this section. I find that while before I detested the idea of learning the human language, maybe I should try. If only to be a better and more responsible pet owner.
Yours in darkness,
xXBloodyWristsXx
EDIT: I have decided to learn Human. Purely for research purposes, for future editions of this guide. Recommendations for learning tools are welcome as I have come to discover there are many sub languages of human, and I want to be sure to learn my pets specific dialect.
